    • @@ooohlaa13 The hunt for pieces to bring new life to is almost as fun as making jewelry! LOL. My friend makes a living cleaning up houses and properties for a local real estate agent, and he also moves the contents of auctioned storage units for another person. He’s told to do whatever he wishes with everything they don’t want, and he lets me look through it before he takes it all to the dump. I’ve ended with a TON of costume jewelry and other treasures. Some of the things are unused and in the original packaging! He literally just dropped off a nice haul from a moving job he had where the people got tired of going through their stuff & told him to get rid of the rest. It’s cold & rainy here today so I haven’t had a chance to go through the boxes, but I now have a vintage console stereo with record player like I’ve been wanting for years! I get an entirely different type of satisfaction from making new art from thrifted/found materials than I get from making art from all new supplies. Plus, it’s saving more from being put into landfills or burned. Happy “hunting” wishes going out to you! ✌🏼💜🛼

    • @@OG_Beckie_Leigh omg you are so lucky ... very nice to hear of this for you, you deserve it! At 79 I am just trying to get rid of some of my bead stash, pour paint stash, yarn, mosaics, fabrics, well I'm sure you know. I just sold 25 years of crockery on FB Marketplace to an aspiring mosaic newbie and its refreshing to have room in my shed! The hazard in all this is the accumulation of supplies and tools until you can't move in small quarters like mine, so once I get a lot done I will sell the rest as there are so many things I want to dabble in. My grandma lived to be 100 so I am hoping!!! Blessings!

    • @@ooohlaa13 I am lucky to have a friend like that, but it makes decluttering difficult. I’m 48, and my kids are grown. I’ve been trying to downsize my various art supplies to a manageable level so that I can move into a small house or apartment. I’m way too much of a hoarder to live in a big house all by myself. LOL. I’ve started rug tufting just so I can use up some of the mountains of yarn I’ve bought and inherited throughout the years, and I’ll be donating the fabric to a local quilting club. My beads have been kept fairly organized from the beginning, but I’m still going to need to learn how to say “no” when I’m offered boxes of old jewelry to pick through. The struggle is real for sure! 😂

  • Hi! I use 18 gauge wire for mine because it's sturdier. 20 gauge works fine too but you need to wrap a lot more and it can still be flimsy. I'd just say bear this in mind, whoever is reading. Happy ring-making :):)

    • @@CenturionMan15 I’m new but I’ve worked with 20 and 16 there’s a substantial difference. 16 is two times tougher to work- doesn’t mean impossible. 18 is ofc in the middle and it really just depends on the look you’re going for

    • so many times I read dead or soft dead words but never see these words on labels ... is it a foreign country product that uses such terms? I found it might say medium soft or some such ... also what is artistic wire mean? • Love your video. I think the way you simplify the whole process is great. From "thrifting" beads to using your own thumb as a ring mandrel, to using cuticle cutters as flush cutters makes this craft accessible to anyone who wants something pretty but doesn't want to buy unnecessary tools (or can't afford to). That's using your noggin! Good for you young lady. Keep teaching. Practical is smart. And you're a very bright bulb.
