  • I adore the rift between easy tools, that you have at home, and basic tools, which a profession needs.

    @jito7377@jito7377 Жыл бұрын
    • Basic tools in this videos doesn't mean stuff that everyone would have at home. They are very basic jeweler tools that can be had for not very much money to be honest. The point of the videos is to show how can make this ring using the cheaper tools to do the same thing as the professional tools but at the same time showing why professional tools can be very handy for time saving or making things easier.

  • i used to make celtic rings from silver wire when i was younger. my grandparents used to own a craft shop that sold everything. sadly when they passed away most of the stuff in the shop was thrown into a skip as my aunty had no idea of what was in the shop. they chucked loads of silver wire and tools into the trash. i was so gutted. lost so many tools from the shop. i must get back into making stuff again. these days i tend to use computers and resin printers and then have them cast. miss the old ways. well not that old but old if ya know what i mean. thanks for a great video.

These are pretty basic jewelry tools and, with a bit of ingenuity, I can (probably) make this! Definitely gonna take some practice though...

    • @@GomeowCreations The primary things I am missing from the video are a metal block for hammering, a bench pin, a good cleaner, and, well, skill lol. From what I have done so far, my skill is holding me back far more than the tools. I'll get there though. Not super related, but I actually have learned everything I have done so far from your previous videos! I have made a number of copper and brass rings so far, but I just bought some silver wire to move up a level. Wish me luck!

Would a dental wax jet flame do the heating & Soldering?...pickling powder product name? I wanted to be a jeweller. Only apprenticeship I could get was as a Toolmaker. No regrets as my hand skills through that trade allowed me to be a carpenter, a Welder, wooden boat builder, fibreglass, panel beater, stone letter engraver, antique item repairer. Medical grade Welder too. Also a rifle stock Carver grips and forend, Boat name Engraver. Now wish to learn to facet. Stone set and metalsmiths engraving. I just seem to have a craftsman's hands, like my Dad.

  • Hi Randy, this video was so helpful. I've been trying to figure out how to do this inside an inlay ring. I think I'll have to go to a two piece inlay ring, which I don't want to do. Originally wanted to make my own wood inlay ring and add the chain, but you can't solder on wood LOL!!!! Thanks for the tutorial!

  • I'm glad I found a video of exactly what I wanted to do to make a ring hahaha I'm gonna do fine silver, I've also been thinking about doing two tones, copper/silver, or silver/gold. Same with some bracelets, but the coil styled ones that are like an inch wide. Might not work well, I've not yet tried to solder silver to copper.
