Easy Guardian Farm Tutorial (No Drain/Water Removal) | Simply Minecraft (Java Edition 1.17/1.18)
Today's tutorial sees us build a simple Guardian Farm! This is super easy as you don't need to remove the monument or drain the water. We build this farm with a handful of blocks above the monument and flush the Guardians onto some campfires to be killed. I'll also show you a super simple and easy way to kill the Elder Guardians to make building the farm even easier.

Replace stairs for the last block before the campfires. Makes it a lot faster to get them into the fire instead of having them hang on to that lip for dear life.

Oh, man! I've already built a farm, it wasn't terribly difficult, but still not as elegant as this. Logical is making me consider revamping mine even though I have more resources from my guardian farm than I can use :-[
i have 2 questions: 1. can you replace the concrete/roof of the build with tinted glass 2. can this work in bedrock edition ?

For anybody curious, I just built it 1.19.2. Works just fine. I did things in slightly a different order because for some reason even with potions mobs saw me (idk). Also, I’ve never seen anybody say how long it takes to build and for me it took about 2 hours. Albeit, I had to go back and forth because I didn’t bring temporary blocks and etc. but I think it took about 2-2.5hours to clear the monument and then build. Material gathering…. A decent amount of time. Thank you Logical!
did you have armor on? in my experience, even with armor on the guardians can still see you with invis. you can get away with wearing just one piece (i always used my boots bc depth strider). also yea, the lack of mentioning the temporary blocks threw me for a loop and ended up with me wasting an invis potion to go get several stacks of dirt after already starting the build
@@spooglez7605 I looked into the minecraft wiki and saw that one piece of armor is max for invis potions! So I used my respiration helmet and water breathing!

Final advice, build the bubble columns last. Do the edges so you know your boundaries, but you will get stuck in side the bubble Column and die if you don’t remove the layer above first
What I learned from building this farm: don't get excited and remove the temporary blocks before you place the soul sand. Some kelp inevitably grows and ruins your water streams, and then you have to do it all again. Order is important!

Make sure that you have your simulation distance set to 8 in order to get this farm to work properly. It took about 10 hours but all 40 chests filled up nicely. Fantastic farm.

This still works like a charm in 1.19.3. It's a very good farm and works very well with hopper minecarts too! I used a minecart system instead of the oppers because of the crazy iron amount needed. I recommend this to anyone needing a huge amount of monument blocks or even just a bit of them. It saves very much time in total.
Love it. I’ve been wanting to use sea lanterns extensively but the couple of tutorials I’ve seen were an intimidating mess of draining and fence gates. I’m going to build this next weekend.

Great farm, thanks Logical! I made it with a handy modification by taking the items up a water elevator to the AFK platform. I also have a nether portal up there so I never need to go down to sea level.

Just stopping in to say that this is working fantastically in 1.20.1. I haven't moved up to 1.20.4 at this time by choice, so I can't speak to that, but it's great in 1.20.1.

Very nice and easy tutorial to follow! I built this on BoxOfRocks which is a 1.18.1 Java (Spigot) server in a few hours (after gathering resources and brewing potions). Wearing just a Aqua Affinity and Respiration helmet while drinking potions of invisibility works well. Height of 186 for the AFK spot works just fine. Make sure no other players in area (at least 128 blocks) or the rates will drop. I like the method of clearing the Elder Guardians with TNT and sand. This made it very easy to no longer have mining fatigue before building. Used MiniHUD mod and alternate account in spectator mode (with the Despawn Sphere loaded) to verify everything was working properly. It also helps if the server render distance is at least 10 along with your render distance for the AFK spot.

So easy and yet efficient, I love it, thanks :D Just a small thing, ton remove the water if you have a piglin trading farm instead of sand use gravel ;) It also makes getting soulsand way easier. Oh and of course having a conduit makes the whole thing even easier :p

A Thank You Was not expecting this to be as good as it is :) Almost TOO EFFICIENT... Playing on 1.18.2 Java (public server) Date: September 13, 2022 Had over a chest full of miscellaneous goodies before i was even ready to go AFK on the platform. Totals were pretty close to what you got per hour. Shards - 9,000+ Crystals - 4,000+ Cod - 4,000+ Ink - 500+

Works in 1.20.1, however guardians are getting stuck on the glass making rates extremely poor. **TO FIX THIS** where the guardians are getting stuck on the glass, replace that glass with fence gates and build the killing chamber , hoppers and campfires lower than the fence gates either 1/2blocks(to prevent them being able to swim hop around back into the water). This would also mean move your hoppers and redstone are 1/2 blocks lower. + will need more glass to lower the killing chamber. Hope this helps 😋😋

tried on xbox one 1.20. works like a charm. im not super knowledgeable with other versions of minecraft but on the xbox one 186 is way to high. i am chillin at 80 as i write and see a steady stream of items now I'll be able to get the 12, 852 sea lanterns i need for my project thank you ^^

I love how simple this is. Instead of full blocks, could you just use bottom half slabs on the block above the concrete, which would also spawn proof the area?
As far as i know you need the roof made of solid blocks to improve spawn rates
I think because the farm needs to be covered by solid blocks so as to not have sky access, as guardians tend to spawn less if exposed to the sky. Unless slabs are counted as opaque, which I think they are.
You could place carpets to spawnprove the area and at the same time create a nice image 🙂

I made a variation of this design; instead of putting the Soul Sand at the shown locations, I put it all the way to ground level around the outermost edges of the farm. I also expanded the scooping system by adding additional layers of the flowing water (which involves adding walls for the water/bubble columns to feed into. It's worked STUPIDLY well, and uses the existing ocean to your advantage. It requires a lot more setup work, but does NOT require you to empty the ocean, as before. You also need to clear out the monument, but that's not a bad thing as it can be gutted, and you can feed your items into the monument, and turn it into a safe spot. :) I can provide screenshots on request - and great job on the design Logical! :)

Worked for me in 1.17.1, had zero issues with it. If you are looking at this before hand, you will need invisible potions the entire build, which for me was like 40-60 minutes worth

Made this in a 1.19.4 server and it still works brilliantly. Only problem is that sometimes items seem to get stuck on hoppers when I added a sorting system, and when I raised the water level a bit to counter this a few items would instead miss the hopper. However the loss is very minimal given the ridiculously amazing rates of this farm for its simpleness
For me, the trick to killing the elders was more usefull! Thx
@LogicalGeekBoy So I have a question regarding this instead of the solid blocks like the concrete that was used could you instead make use of something like tinted glass? I assume we want the solid blocks to reduce the light level to increase spawns.
Tinted glass is a not a solid block. Wont work according to wiki

I don’t think it’s the same, if I go up that high I get 0 drops.. Something must have changed.. I am in a server so it may have something to do with that
9:35 can we use soul sand and light them on fire? will the fire destroy the drops before it is picked up by the hoppers? and if it does work, does it give cooked cod or raw?

For those going to make this farm, please pay careful attention to the afk spot. You have to follow his instructions for being very high above the farm, so that guardians do not spawn below the platform.
