I always thought fusing with Yamato caused Nero to be temporarily possessed by Vergil's memories... Causing Nero to recite a Vow that Vergil must've made in the past. "From this day forth, my arm changed" probably means Vergil recently activated his devil trigger at the time and made this Vow of needing more power after losing their mother to demons. It's just another way to look at this scene.. gives me the chills thinking about it

Dmc1 dante only gets devil trigger first when he gets alastor and the sword you start with is the force edge and it doesn't have the power to turn into spardas form until its fully complete. Dmc3 each devil stm equipped you get a different form. Dmc5 when rebellion breaks dante loses his form. The only true form dante has without a devil arm is his majin form like how vergil is fully demon as an angelo without yamato

I don't think Vergil knows why he sought power anymore, V said the last thing he wanted was simply to get enough power to defeat his brother. He knows that he needed power if he's to protect anything, but the problem is he had nothing to protect. Nero however had Kirye, so when he thought of her in the lab, his desire for power grew. The Yamato happened to be in the next room and it sensed its owner's power resonating to it, so it responded to him. It's also interesting when you realize that both Dante and Vergil got their power with external help, but Nero did not need any. His desire to protect Kirye awaken his demonic heritage, his desire to not let Vergil die unlocked its true potential.

Funny enough, Dante DOES have a time manipulation ability that he got in DMC3 so there's that. Sure, his Quicksilver style doesn't stop time indefinitely but it can sure as hell slow down time by an extreme amount that it looks like he stopped time.

@@andreadebernardis4390 i think if Nero get his Sin Devil Trigger in DMC 6 it should be the original DT concept of DMC4 (the ghost form but physical this time). Meanwhile since lore wise (if i'm not wrong) once you have sin DT you can't go back to normal DT (we never saw the twins using normal DT once they have the sin version) Nero could use the phantom as 'normal' DT and the SDT will the physical one.

Kinda like when you play you only have access to a little part of Dante/Vergil/Nero power. Else if you had them as strong as they are lore wise during gameplay part it wouldn't be fun because you will take thousand of hits before dying or could run even quicker than light.

Isn't Nero Vergils son? I think it was confirmed too on an interview with the dmc creators. I think that's the reason why Yamato actually reacted to Neros devilpowers. What I believe is that Vergil loved a human in the cult and to protect her from it, he searched for more power. When Nero said he needs more power he really reminded me of Vergil. I think the only reason Vergil was so cold so no one could stand in his way, not even his family. "Anything to protect her". A lot of what Nero said could have been originally from Vergil. Vergil does love a lot, in the end of dmc 3 he saved Dante from being trapped in the demonworld. If he really was so cold and mighthungry, it wouldn't matter to him if Dante was trapped or not.

it peeves me when people miss what I am saying and have a rebuttal on an unnecessary point. I did not say the ONLY reason Nero resurrected Yamato was love...nor did I say Vergil is incapable of love. No shyt Nero is Vergil's son. We know this. I am saying ... what a warrior fights for... affects how he fights. I am merely pointing out a theme within DMC that seems to coincide with the classic "good always wins" morality tale. Just because Vergil loved once, does not mean there is love in his long-term motivation. He is driven by being power hungry and probably embraces his demon heritage more than his human side. He does not have inner peace or balance to his spirit. This is why he will always lose.

Chaney McInnis Vergil doesn't fight for the wrong reasons he just fights for the right reasons in a wrong way. The reason Vergil wanted power is for he can get revenge on demons for what they did to his mother and father, even if that means collecting power that isn't his and defeating his own brother. Dante fights for the same reason that's why he made Devil may Cry he doesn't want anyone else to be taken away thanks to these demons, he just does this in a different way than Vergil by not be being greedy. I understand why Vergil is bitter and cold would you be to if your mother and father were gone. I also think Dante is depressed but shows it in a different way, trying to cover it with a smirk and cheesy one liners. Nero is driven by his duty to protect and for love.

After his death, Sparda took up the sword and gave it its name, Yamato, in recognition. Sometime later Sparda acquired Rebellion, and gave it to his two sons, Rebellion to Dante, Yamato to Vergil. Nero, while being of Sparda's blood in some manner, is the reincarnation of sorts of Yamato, seen in the arm. Its the same arm as Yamato had, and Nero got the arm without any contact with the sword. The reason they both sound similar is because whenever D.T is activated, the character's voice is played alongside the voice of the demon, so whenever Vergil went D.T, he also spoke with Yamato, like Nero. Gilgamesh, a hungry weapon borne of Echidna's symbiotic desire to use any organic matter as her weapon withthe Chimera. And Lucifer, a lustful weapon prised from the corpse of Berial, a best who sought to conquer in all aspects. Those three weapons arent of the beasts themselves but representations of their motives. Then theres the enigma, Force Edge/Sparda, the only example of a Devil Arm used by the Demon it came from, since rather than being a representation of power, it was simply a vessel containing Sparda's Dormant power. It's probably a mutation. Nero is a special case when it comes to the Devil Trigger. I'm implying that in 4 it was probably due to him being an uneven hybrid so the power had to show itself somehow or it would probably hurt Nero in some way or another. And due to the Yamato being a family sword from Sparda himself and Nero being apart of his bloodline it reacted to him especially since Vergil is his father so I think Yamato used Nero as an a means of returning to Vergil but recognized him due to lineage and stuff like that. Then again this is just headcannon and theory.

There are clues as to what the connection is, we know that Vergil was fragmented back in DMC when Dante defeated Neo Angelo. We know the only ones able to restore Yamato would have been the one who made and weilded it, Sparda, or Vergil himself. This very clip gives us another clue as to Nero's demonic power, as he seemingly was not born with it: "From that day forward, my arm changed". We can assume that this means an event like a fragment of Vergil's spirit possessed Nero, causing his change and the voice desiring power. Also, this call for power is what brought him to Yamato and restored it. Returning it to the owner by proxy. Vergil.

I mean it could be possible, but Dante(and Vergil if he was still alive) are only like 30-31 years old in DMC4. In DMC3 they're around 19-20 years old. Nero is about that age (19-20) so unless Vergil was getting busy around 10 then idk how Nero would be his son.

IccyTheOne DMC 4 artbook, the DMC 4 novel and the massive amounts of hints dropped throughout the game heavily imply and even state that he is vergil's child.

HYPETRAIN Okay, well how come Nero's power did not awaken before his contact with Yamato? Unless you count Devil Bringer, but Devil Bringer might not even be HIS arm. We know nothing of Nero's mother, or any other family. I feel like the hints are given to us to throw us off and give a lot of people the simple answer. Truly if it was that simple, I don't see why they don't blatantly show us in the game.

IccyTheOne Devil Bringer is arm, it's stated several time that the arm was always his that he was born with it but the accident was the catalyst of him arm transforming completely, becoming possessed by an " evil force". Sit tight, and I shall explain all. DMC 3 happens around the time Vergil and Dante are about 18-20, and canonically, Vergil visited Fortuna BEFORE ever meeting Dante again in the DMC 3 manga, which is a year before DMC 3. During Fortuna, Vergil investigated the Order of the Sword and while he was he slept with a woman that in turn conceived Nero. Now, in the DMC 4 novel, it is stated by Sanctus that Nero's mother is likely a prostitute, since no one knew exactly who she was. Now at this time, Vergil could be between the ages of 16-17, is unusual for someone of his age to actually have sex. Nero was then raised by Kyrie and Credo's parents as a part of their family, and eventually fell in love with Kyrie. While Nero was apart of the order, a large number of demons attacked Fortuna forest, but Nero defeated them all, albeit suffering injury to his arm which he believed to be an infection. In truth, however, it was demonic power and Nero decided to train with it in secret and also hid it, by the sling we see him with in the opening. During DMC 4. we see Yamato has been shattered, but most of us can't understand why. Well, when Vergil was defeated by Mundus and turned into Nelo Angelo, he and Dante fought again, but Dante won and ended up killing him. When the island from the first DMC 1 was destroyed, it EXPLODED with demonic energy. The sword Nelo Angelo used was most likely the transformed Yamato, that was also caught in the blast, destroying it. The order of the sword gathers devil arms, and Yamato ranks highly in the power a devil arm can possess. So, when the order recovered the sword and saw that it was destroyed, they tried to restore it but simply couldn't. Now here is where it gets interesting, you see in the novel, it says that while Nero was stabbed by Angus, he began to remember a dream had been having recently. He was with Vergil in his subconscious, though Nero didn't know who the man actually was. Though Nero himself stated that the man had a cold glare , but with a touch of kindness. ( like the one a father gives to his son) Long story short, Nero and Vergil both wanted power. Nero wanted power to protect Kyrie, and subsequently gained his devil trigger and Yamato. What most people don't know is that,the specter behind Nero in D.T is actually his soul, which feels similar to Vergil's, as stated by Dante. You see, while this was happening to Nero, Dante was a few floors above Nero, and felt the " cry of a soul" that only those who shared the same blood could feel. At first, Dante thought it was Vergil, but remembered that Vergil was " no longer of this world" ( dead). What also hints towards Vergil and Nero being father-son is that Dante even says that Yamato had to stay in the family. Even more, the fact that Nero has Sparda's blood means that he had to get it from one of the two brothers. Hell, even his theme song is a similar to Nelo Angelo's battle themes from DMC 1.
