In this one I take a more in-depth look at the wheels and tires I have been using, and at the wheels and tires I will be using after my Solid Axle Swap (SAS) is complete. I've been using SCS F5 wheels with 35 inch Milestar Patagonia tires. After the build, I'll be using 42 inch Interco IROK tires on Spyderlock beadlock wheels!
So ready to see this fj in it's new transformation.
Me too! Like I mentioned in the video, this is going to be A TON of work! There's a reason shops charge $10-15k in labor for these things!
It worth all the work because the end result going to be stronger fj great wheeling and more content for us to watch.

Giving that tire the business!😉 Ken is sheer determination and perseverance.
I'm not a little guy... I'm sure that tire knew I meant business when I started bouncing on top of it!
Wow, those 42's are insane. Didn't know you could install beadlock tires yourself. Great vid as usual
Being able to change a tire is one of the big advantages of true beadlocks! Thanks for watching!
I think we’re all excited, to see you, out on the trail👍🏼
Those are going to be awesome once they are on. Can't wait to see the progression of your build. Thanks again for sharing all the progress with us. Cheers
Holy rubber tire size! 🤩🤩🤩. Get some!
She’s gunna be a beast....awesome Ken!. I can’t wait for the new videos.
MAN 42s on the FJ! WHOA. Bad ass man!
I saw an FJ running 49s in Las Vegas several years ago
Thank for the video, and congrats on the upgrades.
"Easier" he says.. lol enjoyed the video.. been lookinh forward to this build.. with those easy install tires, i can imagine that FJ lookin like a beast.. great job brother!
Hey Ken, you know you go from mountain goat climbing skills for camera action on the trails to outright brawn in the garage. What a skill set! Right there with you on this transition/build. Your rock crawling happy came out there at the end showing that mounted monster 42” ! Thanks for taking us with you and teaching along the way. Now I understand what a real bead lock is. Will you mount a spare or going to run just the four?
Thanks Jey! I was pretty excited to see these tires on the wheels, I like em! I will not mount a spare, but I will keep a 5th tire in my truck so I can change one out if I had to.
Yep. I like your show!!. Keep up the good work. I know it must be a real pain in the ash to make videos when you are trying to get something done, but we appreciate it!.
Can't wait to see how it turns out...
can't wait to see how your run the 42.
There is a meme about tire size that’s pretty good.. pretty much if you put 33’s on it you’ll want 35’s 35’ you’ll want 37’s the list goes on.. I run 35’s on most my trail rig builds and 38’s or bigger on a crawler type build.. 42’s will work pretty nicely for what you have in mind thanks again for taking the time to film edit and post all this stuff up for everyone to see can’t wait to see the build finished and get out on some runs..
I figured 42's are big enough that I won't be wanting to go bigger... Which is why I didn't want to "just get 40's" 😆 Thanks for watching!
@@offroadhub.official I’m going to Moab next week so we will see how I feel about my 35’s after that trip.. lol..
@@theclan4adventures you can do a lot on 35's for sure! Have fun!
@@offroadhub.official thanks! we will sure try..
Looking great!! Real curious how it all turns out! Good Luck to you and the FJ!
4wheel awesomeness right there.
Those tires are HUGE!!!
Yes! Tractor tires pretty much...
Pritchett Canyon Ready!!
Oh yeah! All the big trails everywhere!
A friend started mounting his beadlock wheels and after finishing installing all the ring bolts he realized that he forgot to install the valve stem XD
Oh that would be a sad moment!!
Enjoying this Solid Axle Swap Series.. Thank you! I have seen others number their KZhead series which really helps for new viewers..
Thank you! I'll consider that!
It may be too big of a tire for this, but using a bucket makes it a lot easier getting the tire on. Also, you should use balancing beads.
A bucket may have been very helpful. I haven't had any need to balance the tires.
Going to look cool and climb better.👍
ken youre the man!
No you're the man. 🤙
Now this is fun . ( just a little tech tip . On the tire there is a red dot . That dot lines up with the valve stem ) Not a issue at all for you but if you were trying to balance these That is the lightest portion of the tire , These look great !!!
Balance shmalance!
@@offroadhub.official LOL. Yep. Like the boulders care about balance !!!!
Very cool! 👍🏻
Hurry up! Let’s see what those can do.
I will... It's a lot!!
I one ton'd my JK last summer in my driveway, tons of work but so worth it in the end...
I can"t WAIT for the 5.7L i-Force swap!
You'll have to wait until next year at least... 😆
The new hair style looks good on you.
Thanks! It's not a big change honestly... 😄 Most people don't notice.
When you try to get the last bead on and when putting the bolts in put a five gallon bucket under the wheel to hold the tire off the ground and gravity helps pull the tire down.
Thanks for the tip! I'm just loving the fact that I don't have to pay somebody with a machine to do it!
I really enjoyed the music you played while torquing down your rim locks. And how hard is it to get to the valve stem and lugs with the spider web on. Love the look of it.
Accessibility is pretty good. An extension would be required to get to the lug nuts with or without the "spider web."
Gonna be a Beast and Look like it Too.....P e a c e
wow! 🙌🏼
I’ve got the Milestar mts 40x13.5 R17 on my 2014 raptor
I see that Milestar just came out with a 42... Those will probably be my next after these IROKS wear out.
@@offroadhub.official nice I hope they got it in a 17” rims and wonder how much will they weigh compared to others
HOLY SHIT!
Needs. More. Subs.
Thank you for your support!
All your videos seem to have one single dislike. Why? Reveal yourself!
😂😂 it's ok, I would prefer that everyone reacts one way or the other. KZhead just sees it as "engagement" which is good. So if my video ruined your day, please give it a thumbs down! 😂
Gonna be a monster on the trails. Any idea if you will be needing to open the fender wheel openings to keep those huge meats from rubbing or cutting?
Yes I plan on cutting the rear wheel openings all the way back. I may shave an inch or so off the bottom of the front fenders. Thanks for following along!
Patgonia Milestar starts or 275 70 r 18 in and they say they're 33.4 inch tall and when I have the weight of my two-door JK on them they're actually about 33 in perfect
Well crap! I have a similar build as your FJ (3rd gen Tacoma, fully locked, 4.88 on 35's) and I've been using your experiences on the trail as a barometer as to how far I can push the envelope in my rig. Now that your going a different direction with your rig, I'll just have to wing it! It'll be fun to watch your build and see how much more it will be able to do. However, your FJ has taken you everywhere you've asked it. Hasn't it?
I'll still do "difficult" trails, not just extreme ones. The FJ has taken me lots of places, but I've skipped tons of trails and obstacles that I wish I could have done. With about 90 trails in the western US under my belt, I feel like I've "done it all" with my current setup. Time to hit the stuff I've been missing!
You are going to have 600lbs of unsprung rotational mass! Have fun being the slowest FJ in the world.
Marlin Crawler has the "slowest Tacoma in the world" so I'm just trying to have the slowest FJ....
✌️👍
Marlin transfer case in the future???🤔🤔
Atlas! The Marlin takes gas tank modification and I've already got enough going on that I don't want to worry about that right now...
Hi Ken ......as far as these Stealth Wheels ...what offset are you running ?...I got currently 1.25 inch spacers but looking in to wheels instead ....Cheers .
I was running -25 offset so that I didn't need spacers. The 17" version of this week comes in a -38. Thanks for watching!
Supercharging will have to be added to help turn those tyres?
No. Just gears. I'm not planning on highway use. The same setup exists on much less powerful vehicles. It'll do just fine! 😉
Cmon Ken, install a supercharger !
Let me get this little sas project done first... 😆
Do you know what your total width will be? Out side of the tires. I’m planning on running the same axles wheels and tires my Jeep, curious how wide it will be.
Just over 90 inches I believe. 👍
Back to busywilde after this???
Absolutely! It'll be a totally different experience!
Are you selling your old wheels and tires?
Wheels still yes. Email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com
Do you have a buyer lined up for the stealth?
Nothing solid yet. Email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com if you are really interested!
Won't you sacrifice a lot of power by putting those big ass tires on the FJ?
They would be a big sacrifice if I wanted to cruise at 80 down the freeway, or race the other guy to the next light. But in the case of crawling over rocks? No big deal. I trailer my FJ to trails as well.
@@offroadhub.official Thanks! I can see now why that makes sense.
Will you sell your old wheels I’m interested?
I've had a few interested folks, and they have all declined after seeing that my wheels are pretty scratched up. 😄 If you're still interested, email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com. 👍
Have you heard anything good or bad about boltless beadlocks
I've never heard of boltless beadlocks. I'll have to go Google that now. 😀👍
Oh those! They look interesting. I've never talked to anyone who has used them.
What suspension is going on
14" Radflo coilovers, 3 link front and rear.
Are you selling the FJ wheels? If so let me know!
I am. Email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com 👍
@@offroadhub.official email sent
Are you going to balance them
No. I might throw some beads in if I feel the need. These won't see pavement above 55mph ever.
Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm digging your build so far. Can't wait to see the finished product
You interested in selling your old e-locked rear axle? Would love to put it on my GX470
Already spoken for, sorry.
Probably sold your old rims already?
Oh yeah, long gone! 😄
can i buy the old rims
Yes. Email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com 👍
Selling your old wheels?:p I want lol
I think I have a buyer already. But "wheel" see....
@@offroadhub.official you are good, I'm 17s anyways but love the design and the color of those.
Are you interested in selling those wheels by chance?
The stealth customs not the spyder locks
@@2dollarDirtbikes email me at offroadhub.official@gmail.com if you're interested!
At least line up the inside spider with the outside spider.. or split them half that not quite lined up looks weird
I did line them up I think... I'll double check. 😄
@@offroadhub.official i was waiting for a good straight on shot. Didn't get one, so I could be wrong. But looks like a hole off.
Next time try Pam spray for your lube.
Don't confuse your viewers a TIRE fitted to a RIM gives you a wheel. That is a f5 16 x 8" rim it becomes a wheel when you fit a tire to it
Hmmm... Interesting. I've always considered a tire the rubber part, the wheel is the metal part. Together, they are wheel and a tire. 😆 I have no idea what a "rim" is. 😂
24/32"? 3/4" is simpler!
😆 sorry I didn't do that math... Tread depth is always just stated in 32'nds so that's what I went with. But now that you point that out... That's funny.
@@offroadhub.official I'm a carpenter, I go with the LCD. Lowest Common Denominator.
@@offroadhub.official Try finding a 24/32 wrench or socket in your tool box. LOL
@@PeteHemdem OK OK.... 😂 I messed up. I'll try to do better in the future!
@@offroadhub.official I did learn that tire tread is measured by thirty seconds of an inch! Your FJ is gonna be a beastly machine. You have some serious fabrication and fitting to do.
Ken: I really hate to see you make that transition as I was imoressed with the places you took the FJ with the parts you had. Once you make that transition you no longer dwell in the "modified stock" category and move closer to the "buggie" category. I will no longer watch your channel as I don't like watching buggies - and I've seen many of them. They are just not what this sport began with. That's just my opinion.
Mark, it isn't going to be a buggy, and I'll still do interesting trails and include lots of fun Toyota content!
