  • I feel like this album is a story, for example, the first three songs are introducing the character and saying how he isn’t okay, then in addict with a pen, it’s the character writing a suicide note to his friend, then in friend, please, the friend comes over and convinces the character to not kill themselves, but then in Johnny boy, the friend kills themselves, saying “no one really knows his mind” and then in oh ms. believer, I think the character comforts the friend’s family. Then in air catcher it’s the character mad that his friend is gone, then it progresses on where the character gets worse and worse, until the end of before you start your day, where he kills himself. Then in isle of flightless birds it has reached “the climax of the story” and continues into vessel. Where the process happens again with a different person. Just a theory

    • I saw this somewhere else but there's didn't include all the songs. I love your theory and I could actually see that but even if that is not what Tyler intended to do the songs can still mean this to you

Rain down And destroy me Rain down And destroy me Rain down And destroy me Rain down And destroy me Rain down Rain down Rain down 2. 4:51 Fall Away I don't wanna fall, fall away I don't wanna fall, fall away I'll keep the lights on in this place 'Cause I don't wanna fall, fall away I don't wanna fall, fall away I don't, I don't wanna fall away I'll keep the lights on in this place 'Cause I don't wanna fall, fall away I disguise And I will lie And I will take my precious time As the days spent away As I stand in line And I die as I wait as I wait on my crime And I'll try to delay what you make of my life But I don't want your way I want mine I'm dying and trying But believe me I'm fine But I'm lying I'm so very far from fine And I, I can feel the pull begin I feel my conscience wearing thin And my skin It will start to break up and fall apart I don't wanna fall, fall away I don't wanna fall, fall away I'll keep the lights on in this place 'Cause I don't wanna fall, fall away Every time I feel selfish ambition Is taking my vision And my crime is my sentence Repentance is taking commission It's taking a toll On my soul I'm screaming submission and, I don't know if I am dying or living 'Cause I will save face For name's sake Abuse grace Take aim to obtain a new name And a newer place But my name is lame I can't walk and I ain't the same And my name became A new destiny to the grave And I, I can feel the pull begin Feel my conscience wearing thin And my skin It will start to break up and fall apart I don't wanna fall, fall away I don't wanna fall, fall away I'll keep the lights on in this place 'Cause I don't wanna fall, fall away 3. 7:53 The Pantaloon Your grandpa died when you were nine They said he had lost his mind You have learned way too soon You should never trust the pantaloon Now it's your turn to be alone Find a wife and build yourself a home You have learned way too soon That your dad is now the pantaloon You are tired, you are hurt A moth ate through your favorite shirt And all your friends fertilize The ground you walk Lose your mind He's seen too many stare downs Between the sun and the moon in the morning air How he used to hustle all the people Walking through the fairgrounds He's been around so long he's changed his meaning of a chair now Because a chair now, Is like a tiny island in the sea of all the people Who glide across the very surface that made his bones feeble The end can't come soon enough but is it too soon? Either way he can't deny he is a pantaloon You are tired, you are hurt A moth ate through your favorite shirt And all your friends fertilize The ground you walk Lose your mind You like to sleep alone It's colder than you know 'Cause your skin is so Used to colder bones It's warmer in the morning Than what it is at night Your bones are held together by your nightmare and your frights You are tired, you are hurt A moth ate through your favorite shirt And all your friends, they fertilize The ground you walk So lose your mind You are tired, you are hurt A moth ate through your favorite shirt And all your friends, they fertilize The ground you walk Lose your mind 4. 11:27 Addict With A Pen Hello We haven't talked in quite some time I know I haven't been the best Of sons, hello, I've been traveling in the desert of my mind And I Haven't found a drop Of life I haven't found a drop Of you, I haven't found a drop I haven't found a drop Of water Water I try desperately to run through the sand As I hold the water in the palm of my hand 'Cause it's all that I have and it's all that I need and The waves of the water mean nothing to me But I try my best and all that I can To hold tightly onto what's left in my hand But no matter how, how tightly I will strain The sand will slow me down and the water will drain I'm just being dramatic, in fact, I'm only at it again As an addict with a pen, who's addicted to the wind As it blows me back and forth, mindless, spineless, and pretend Of course I'll be here again, see you tomorrow, but it's the end of today End of my ways as a walking denial My trial was filed as a crazy suicidal head case But you specialize in dying, you hear me screaming "father" And I'm lying here just crying, so wash me with your water Water Hello I haven't talked in quite some time I know I haven't been the best Of sons, hello, I've been traveling in the desert of my mind And I I haven't found a drop Of life I haven't found a drop Of you I haven't found a drop I haven't found a drop Of water 5. 16:13 Friend, Please I feel for you but when did you believe you were alone? You say that spiders crawled inside and made themselves a home Where alliance once was Petrified of who you are and who you have become You will hide from everyone, denying you need someone To exterminate your bones Friend, please remove your hands from Over your eyes for me I know you want to leave but Friend, please don't take your life away from me Living like a ghost you walk by everyone you know You say that you're fine but you have lost your sway and glow So I stopped by to let you know Friend, please remove your hands from Over your eyes for me I know you want to leave but Friend, please don't take your life away from me Would you let me know your plans tonight 'Cause I just won't let go 'til we both see the light And I have nothing else left to say But I will listen to you all day, yes I will Friend, please remove your hands from Over your eyes for me I know you want to leave but Friend, please don't take your life away from me 6. 20:26 March To The Sea There's miles of land in front of us, And we're dying with every step we take, We're dying with every breath we make, And all fall in line A stranger's back is all I see, He's only a few feet in front of me, And all look left and right sometimes, But all fall in line No one looks up anymore, 'Cause you might get a raindrop in your eye, And heaven forbid, they see you cry, As we fall in line And about this time of every year, The Line will go to the ocean pier, And walk right off into the sea, Then we fall asleep As we near the end of land, And our ocean graves are just beyond the sand, I ask myself the question, why I fall in line Then out of the corner of my eye, I see a spaceship in the sky, And hear a voice inside my head Follow me instead Follow me instead Follow me Then the wages of war will start Inside my head with my counterpart And the emotionless marchers will chant the phrase This line's the only way Then I start down the sand My eyes are focused on the end of land But again the voice inside my head Says, follow me instead Follow me instead Follow me Follow me instead Follow me instead Follow me instead Follow me instead Follow me instead Take me up Seal the door I don't want to march here anymore I realize that this line is dead So I'll follow you instead So then you put me back in my place So I might start another day And once again, I will be In a march to the sea 7. 25:58 Johnny Boy He stays home from work this time He never really told his wife He never really told a lie But this time he decides that it's alright It's alright No one really knows his mind And no one knows behind his eyes The man deserves a medal But he's never really won a prize, before He goes to lock the door He has fallen in love He knows it's enough And the world looks down and frowns Get up Johnny boy, get up Johnny boy Get up 'cause the world has left you lying on the ground You're my pride and joy, you're my pride and joy Get up Johnny boy 'cause we all need you, now We all need you, now Someone said, where you going? Someone said to you, goodbye They deflect the disrespect When they say that they blame it on the times They blame it on the times We all know you're qualified to fix a chair and love your wife They all know you're qualified But they lie when they blame it on the times And we blame it on the times He has fallen in love He knows it's enough And the world looks down and frowns Get up Johnny boy, get up Johnny boy Get up 'cause the world has left you lying on the ground You're my pride and joy, you're my pride and joy Get up Johnny boy 'cause we all need you, now We all need you, now I will carry all your names And I will carry all your shame And I will carry all your names And I will carry all your shame And I will carry all your names And I will carry all your shame Get up Johnny boy, get up Johnny boy Get up 'cause the world has left you lying on the ground You're my pride and joy, you're my pride and joy Get up Johnny boy because we all need you, now Get up Johnny boy, get up Johnny boy Get up 'cause the world has left you lying on the ground You're my pride and joy, you're my pride and joy Get up Johnny boy because we all need you, now

Trapdoor reminds me of when you read in history books about how hangings were public 'Everyone gather around for a show/ Watch as this man disappears as we know/ Do me a favor and try to ignore/ As you watch him fall through a bleeding trapdoor' almost as if hangings were a show. People would watch, sometimes cheer, or ignore what was happening right in front of them. Anyway enough of that, stay street, and stay alive frens /-/

  • During lockdown, I lived the worst time of my life. Looking back, I can't really understand why I went so low for a stupid reason, and this period of time felt so numb, I hated myself so much, I was so angry. I hurted myself for insignificant errors made through the day, and I felt like losing track of time. The only thing that could bring me peace, deliverance, was Twenty One Pilots. I can't tell how many times I sang, I cried, I danced thanks to Tyler and Josh. But with the arrival of summer, I slowely started to revive. I met someone, and moved one the better I could. I never forgot TØP, but I just couldn't listen to them without feeling bad. And here I am, almost a year after all this. I still am fragile. But I'm alive, I've not cut myself for at least 9 months, I'm full of a new strength and full of love. So whoever you are : I know that life is hard right now. I know you feel numb, or angry, or terribly sad. But please, stay. We never know what the universe has for us. Stay, it is really worth it. • Can't help but feel sad looking at the cover. Beautiful mind pouring out. Ask for help if you're in a tough place. There is nothing weak about asking for it

    @gbennett9297@gbennett92972 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed, 100%. You *might* get help if you suffer in silence, but you *will* get help if you let the people around you know you need it. People tend to be preoccupied with their own issues, so don't just expect or hope others to notice what you're going through - and it isn't necessarily because they don't care, things that seem obvious in your own mind may be hard for another to spot. Don't be afraid when someone asks "How are you today?" or "How's it going" or "How are things?", "How have you been?", "How is your day?", "Are you having a good day?" or even just "What's up?" to actually answer that honestly, like "I'm not doing well, things are really hard for me at the moment" or something like that. Even if it's someone serving you at the store, tell them about your shitty day/week/month/year/life and cry if you need to. Letting it out is better than keeping it in. Sometimes just letting a bit of out, even to a stranger, helps to just slightly lighten the load you are carrying. Sending my love to all who are having a hard time for whatever reason (or no reason at all) ❤️ I hope things improve for you.

    • It's about his relationship with God. Tyler's Christian and Christians believe in God the Father, The Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. Jesus or God there the same person from a Christian biblical standpoint. God is Tyler's heavenly Father along with all other Christians or whoever believes in Jesus and repents from there sins and asks Jesus into there lives and accepts his gift of everlasting life (heaven) Tyler talks to God in Implicit Demand for proof because he has struggled in his religion and is somehow doubting God's existence but he feels like he's real but at the same time he feels like God's ignoring him and his pain. So Tyler's saying strike me down with your lightning, do whatever just show me a sign that your real and you care about me and is listening to me. Even if that means striking him down with his lightning or calling him down from heaven. Tyler also has depression and sounds like he wants to die when he says 'And destroy me rain down' it's about his relationship with God, depression and demanding a sign (Implicit Demand for proof!) (That God is real and is listening to him and cares). That's what this song is about

  • Just heard this album for the first time a few days ago (never listened to TOP before), but this is just such a great album, and I think I'm a fan. Thought I'd put a little review I wrote as I was listening through the first time. 1. Implicit Demand For Proof: Beautiful track to start, and the way the piano contorts before the vocals is perfect. However, it may have worked better as a closer, rather than a grand first statement. 2. Fall Away: Not my absolute favorite, but the bridge into the chorus, as well as the chorus are nice. 3. The Pantaloon: The intro definitely caught my attention, and what I got was a very unique song for which I couldn't help but write "oh my god" as I listened. It is my second favorite, for sure, and sounds like a modern "Little Creatures" track. 4. Addict With a Pen: One of the weaker tracks, and that weird crinkly sound got a bit annoying. 5. Friend, Please: It's so eerie and well made, just about perfect. My only gripe is the loud synth whine, which could've been left out with no negative impact. But it doesn't matter too much. 9.5/10. 6. March to the Sea: Dreamy and hazy sounding. Like #4, seems like a bit of filler, and not too demanding. Don't get me wrong, though, the world does have a place for that. 7. Johnny Boy: To continue the short filler period, this one doesn't really 'go anywhere' and doesn't feel as experimental as most of the album. Also, the happy sounding piano didn't fit with the rest of the composition. 8. Oh Ms Believer: Again, it seems to stay in its lane, not really branching out or attempting to stick out. 9. Air Catcher: Thankfully, the album picks back up, and, though slightly overproduced (the louder guitar sections), the verses are definitely the highlight. This should've been the opener track. 10. Trapdoor: Continues the momentum from the previous number. The instrumental breakdown is great, and it carries that "spooky" sound that this album is best at delivering. 11. A Car, a Torch, a Death: I really like the beginning section, which sounds like a confession in a large (and for some reason, white) room. The ticking like a clock. While the vocals can be a bit pitchy (at one moment, my headphones crackled), the storytelling is very well executed, and keeps the pace strong. 12. Taxi Cab: The best ballad on the record, in my opinion, and, at times, reminds me of Queen. Really, take out the rapping, and the length is perfect, as it just feels out of place and made the song go on much longer than it should've. 13. Before You Start Your Day: Very soothing, no doubt. Nevertheless, while it picks up for a moment at the end, I found it to be the least interesting of the lot, and a bit too soothing. 4/10 14. Isle of Flightless Birds: The absolute best part is the little pause right before the piano kicks in after the chorus (it was beyond satisfying). The rap, once again, bloats the length slightly, and, in this case, makes the track lose a bit of its identity. Otherwise, I liked it very much, and thought it a great closer.
