For those wondering the intro is entirely wrong: Yes Tony steals the hat and the club closes, but it closes due to renovations not because the mobster burned it. See Tony stole the hat, but he made it look like the hat was stolen by someone else, therefore he made the mobster believe that he was the one that got it back even though he was the one that stole it. Tony saw it as an opportunity because he earned the mobster's respect and got a good tip.
The title is also wrong. The driver has a higher IQ than this recapper.
I personally haven't had the pleasure of watching this movie, in fact I never even heard of it . However simply based on the bosses first appearance and his style of clothing im guessing the stolen "hat" you are referencing isn't really just a hat (I know right who cares? what's the big deal ? , im not an expert and plz correct me if im wrong (im disinclined by the idea of spreading falsities') most ensemble's of clothing that are directly associated with, inspired, or even slightly influenced by the elegance of African aestheticism are often enkindled with religion or spiritualism . point being i think its a kufi which makes the "hat " a HUGE deal
Exactly.
i knew something was off when he said they were watching soccer. what selfrespecting man in the 60s would watch soccer.

Love films like Green Book. Shows that you don't need big explosions and special effects and gunfights and a $300 million budget for a good film. Good actors, a compelling story, and a deft director make it work.
Because it was a true story. if there had been big explosions and something that had happened that would have required flashy special effects, it probably would have been in the movie.
@@baneblackguard584 world wars, cold war, Vietnam war, Korean war pretty much every war after world war has big explosions 😅😅 😢
yes, they did... and a movie that was about big explosions in one of those wars probably would have had big explosions... don't you think? @@nanyabiznus4738
This is the kind of movie we need so much more of. Deep, humanizing, intellectual and introspective. No flash, flare, CGI, green screen, zombies, superpower people, and/or played out multiverse nonsense. Our world would be so much better if beautiful movies like this were promoted over dark, superficial, virtue signaling BS.
I couldn't agree more. The further into the story I traveled the warmer it made my heart and yet also saddened at the unnecessary mistreatment. It beggars belief how much inane shite gets produced on tv these days, this movie however, is a gem.
ehm , i like this movie but saying shit like we dont need more zombies , superpower etc . I NEED IT . Both have place in world . And now , this world wont be better place , u can see it all arround what lunacy is everywhere
@@slimakovamamam Ever consider it may have something to do with the media we consume? The vitriolic nonsense spewed on social media? The sociological niche bubbles people put themselves in to avoid hearing something they don't like? It's gotta change, and fantasy movies used to be a fraction of what is being pumped out now by disney/marvel/sony. That stuff is fine in small doses, but puts people in a state of confusion as to how to handle themselves in the world. Just like you jumping at me for a praise of good sense movies, and mentioning we need more good sense movies, and less things that make people feel powerful, because people suck.
Thanks it's good to know other share my thoughts
totally cliche and PC, a ridiculous movie
0:44 definitely soccer 🔥🔥🔥
Most people call it football
@@charlesandrews2360 they're playing baseball 😂
I should have watched it completely, it deserves my every minute, this movie reminds me of those days when movies were actually about hitting at out brains/questioning our prejudices against a community/certain people. But now movies have just created stereotypes rather than making communities more closer to each other.
It is sad that black people ostracise black people who act "whyte" and this movie pointed that out.
In poor black communities making something of yourself means "you abandoned your homies, college is for wussies"
Rick black communities have one of the best schools and highest achieving students in the country.

the trailer doesn't do this movie any justice, believe me when I tell you that this is aa great movie to warm your heart and it will make you believe in humanity. This is one of the best movies I have seen, and to know that it is actually based on a true story makes it better.
I totally agree with you 👍 one of the finest movies I've ever seen ❤
Ah yes, the wonderful American past time of the 50's, soccer. When two teams would compete against one another with clubs and tiny balls to try and score a goal. 😂
Oh, you mean Cricket
Don Shirley was a phenomenal pianist and a broadly educated man. I think these youngsters could learn a thing or two from this classy cat
I will be watching this movie now. I did start crying but not from the video. My nanny, my grandmother, took such good care of me. I love her so much even 30 years after she left us. She was my everything. When she was buried we left at her grave, after all drinking some, a bottle of Cutty Sark. It was her favorite scotch. I’m 60 years old and I know in a few years I’ll be back with her forever..
One of the Best Humanity movies....totally love it.....says a lot....
Fantastic movie, love the storyline, extremely heartwarming 👍🙂 Thankyou for the movie recap 🙏
Soccer is what the Brits called American baseball. They also call NFL football tennis.
Oh wow, Viggo Mortensen mimicked DeNiro SO good, if he had a mole on his cheek I wouldn't notice the difference! And this is a compliment! What a level of acting
What a great story and character development. I love hearing the movie recapped for the plots and great summarizations they feel like they hit harder.
00:45 Narrator says "Watching soccer" when they actually watch Baseball xDDD
This is an awesome movie, moved me to tears. Watched it 3 times so far. I'll probably watch it again
Just this narration is emotional enough for me..... Going to catch it COME WHAT.....
a film that you don't realise how good it is until it's over and leaves you wishing it would go on
That scene where Doc Shirley plays "Winter Wind" on that old bar piano - omg
Thank you. You're as good as Shirley in expressing the content with your narrating skills. Very touching.
This was a really good movie, I told several friends about it and watched it a second time
I should’ve watched this entire movie instead of watching this. Low key in tears, love movies like this. We need more messages and movies like this. The government and news tryna split us apart but we all just wanna love each other and take care of our families.
uh no.. there is a lot of senseless crime.
Trust me, you'd still really enjoy the full movie. This summary doesn't even come close to capturing how great this movie is.
This summary was pretty good but you'll still enjoy.
0:45 "WATCHING SOCCER" With a baseball bat? XD
I know its an old topic, but what a great movie. I am a white Muslim and love my black brothers. My children, aged 5 and 3 cannot tell a difference between black and white and I am proud of me and my wife raising them like so. Also I am proud of my parents who always told me to respect people no matter of which skin color. Even if they never met black people in Yugoslavia where they are originally from. Even after a war in our home country, they told me not to hate the enemy. When I said a racial slur against Serbians once as a young fellow, my father punched me in my face and forbid it.
Wow!what good standards and a great and powerful,if not painful learning lesson, thank you so much for sharing
Tony was not a waiter he was a bouncer……
This title is completely wrong, that never happened. Stop with the click bait for that tumb's down to you lying video..
i love the part where it says they are watching soccer, but it clearly show baseball on the tv 😛
Love it! Thanks for the recap. ❣️🎹
It took me like 17 movie recaps to finally see an ending worth watching
What a lovely video capturing this movie. I’m a really busy person but I appreciate you making these clips so I can enjoy the art humanity has created capturing humanity itself. Thank you.

This is one of my favorite movies the chemistry between Marshalla, Ali and Viggo Mortensen is excellent
I never expected anyone who potrayed Aragorn can play as dumb character. Man, Viggo is something.
This is an excellent movie. No action, no violence, no nudity. Just great heartwarming story telling. And it is based on a true story. Tony Lip and Don Shirley remained friends for life.
Are we really going to just ignore the part at the final stop where Shirley says, "You just made the BLACK book, motherfuckers" and blows up the country club with Tony's family's explosives? Or the epilogue at the whites-only nudist camp where he refuses to perform clothed? History is not yours to whitewash.
Damn just this recap had me feeling emotional. Going to give this a watch.
Prejudice and racism has no place anywhere. We encourage diversity in every species, except our own.. we're all the same: we're born, we love, we fall out, we have kids, we die. That's all there is. This story is beautiful. Great writing, great actors, amazing film.
My grandad still has a green book. We're white, but my grandad used to sell them at his pharmacy in the 60s and 70s. Back home, civil rights moved a little slower. Dawson Creek was a sundown town up until the 90s
Never seen this film, but I will try and find it. Even your narration moved me to tears.
I enjoyed this, but wished that more of the soccer game (0:44) would have been shown.
My blood sugar spiked at the end of this recap.
All it takes is the power of listening, and putting yourself in one's shoes. #truth
This the best show. This movie should be seen in history class
Thank you for bringing this movie to my attention. I certainly have to watch it now!

I have not seen this movie but I definitely will now that I have seen this video! Thanks!
Bruv needs a better thumbnail title. He knows he’s his boss.
I never heard of this movie, but I know especially after watching this. I really need to see the whole movie! It is amazing when 2 people can learn from one another and put their differences aside and not care about what others think and in the end become the best of friends! We all need good people in our lives and race should never play a role one way or another! A good and loving human being is a really guiding light for so many of us to learn from.

This was a beautiful display of what being humble in order to learn does! Keep an open heart and mind….Don’t judge because someone is not you or yours…..remember that you are not God, and don’t possess a heaven or hell to put anybody in!
wow heartwarming story

Tony was "blacker" than Shirley. Once he realised all his prejudices were bullshit, it broke his view on the world and made him a greater man. Great story and I'm glad they became friends in the end.
I don’t need to watch it now. I feel good just from watching that recap. Too good 👍
this film was so good.

0:44 "watching soccer"
I was kind of expecting some tragic ending with Don getting shot dead by racists. And Tony would then go on to adopt a black child and cry for the rest of his life.
You should either watch the movie or do it again as you got a few things wrong
What a dear movie and so well done
Viggo’s character Tony shows simple of life men: Don’t let anyone disrespect you. Love your family Be a true friend (specially when most needed) Most important enjoy the ride.
if tony had a 40 IQ he would not be able to function in socity without help
