The Bakery Boys robbed a stagecoach yesterday. They came in buns glazing.
bun puns. Really. Love it😃
Maybe next time they will be butter armed.
Did they get much dough?
Their holdup plans are always half-baked
😆😆😆@@ArizonaGhostriders
Grew up in the area Black Bart frequented. He has a storied history around these parts, on par with Mark Twain and Joaquin Murrieta.
Oh cool!!
Same here, but when I moved to the Sierra Nevada Mountains Ole Joaquin and Three finger Jack had a camp on the table mountan range just up the road from me. But I like Black Bart better.
@@bearflagmercantile8113 What I find interesting is when someone says "Table Mountain" when referring to the foothills/mountains I'm always like "Which one?" But yeah, for out local outlaws Black Bart is my favorite one.
there is a legend in Glenn County, that Joaquin buried $20,000.00 dollars under an oat tree on Stoney Creek, and that Black Bart used an old barn in the area as a hide out
@Mirokuofnite I always try to keep it vague, I've visited the site, and it's a place where you need permission to go from the property owner, it's close to Millerton lake about two miles from the site ( under the lake) where fort Millerton once stood. narrow trail in it would have been a death ride trying to apprehend him. He had the high ground and the trail to protect him. He also had a hide out in the San Joaquin River gorge area which is literally a short hike from my house.
Ohhh WOW, this was so cool. I just thought he was a bandit! I never knew the enigma known as Black Bart. On one side, he did steal money, but on the other side, he used an unloaded gun, wrote poetry, didn't steal from passengers, and seemed to have his own moral code.🙃😉🤔 Thank you, Santee for the pics, and video inclusions... another great one 🎊🤠🌞
Thanks. His code was a little skewed. For instance, he stole the mail at one point because people would send money. So, technically that was stealing from the same hard working people.
Every Saturday morning I wake up like I did many years ago to watch cartoons, but now its to learn about the old west! Thanks Santee!
Glad to help!
Of Black Bart it is said, He was a robber and a poet. His shotgun was never armed, And his victims didn’t know it….
Don't give up your day job. 👍😃
@@bigblue6917 😂
Nice!
This is the only History class that I have never skipped, cut, or dropped
HA! 🤣
What a great episode. Black Bart, what a life. I don't blame him for turning to a life of crime. Seems that folks weren't too kind to him. Thanks Santee.
It's a tough scenario, I'll give him that.
Great video! It was a much tougher life not just from a lack of conveniences but also financially back then. Every story I've read has crushing poverty as a central element and motivation.
Well said!
I know it’s Saturday Morning when I see a new Santee production is up and the Music tells me that it’s going to be a great one. Great narrative of Black Bart. Thanks again Santee for remarkable true Western stories and fine storytelling. Could you do one on your production staff and process in getting these fine tales up on KZhead every Saturday morning.
Awww, thanks!
Never stop uploading, please. I found your channel from the old videos about tobacco and coffee and feared that the channel would be abandoned; seeing that youre still at it is so wonderful. Your videos are a solid chunk of 24-karat gold on this website; one of the last bastions of true edutainment.
Will do! Thank You!
And all this time, I though Black Bart was the Sheriff of Rock Ridge! Great episode, Santee! --Desert Rat Rick
LOL!!!
I used to be in a gunfight group, at Roaring Camp California. Our leader used to call himself Black Bart. Later he retired to Columbia California and opened a bookstore.
I remember there was a Black Bart in the Shadows of the Past group.
@@ArizonaGhostriders that was the group.
Long ago, I heard Black Bart was once a school teacher, an educated man for the time. Perhaps, that that explains his linguistic talent. He almost sounds like an Old West Robin Hood, especially with his having no intent to harm anyone, and only taking the strong boxes.
I left out some of the not-so-great stuff in this video. Definitely NOT a Robin Hood. He never gave to the poor or his family back home.
Hey Santee. This is my favorite. Very interesting to see how "stage coach robbing" long associated with violence could be handled in a gentlemanly fashion. Two thumbs up!!!!!
Thank You!
"You can get farther with a kind word and an unloaded gun, than you can with just a kind word." - Black Bart (unverified)
Good morning Arizona Ghost Riders it's Ted from Texas. With all the invasions coming across the Texas border, maybe you could do something in history with what happened with the Texas border back in the 1800s and what did they do to protect Americans then . By the way I also love the bloopers put at the end of the videos. Stacy friend friend
Thank You! I will at some point. Watch my Jeff Kidder video for some info on that.
Again Santee!! … thx for keeping the old west alive as it means alot to me ❤ one of the reasons I love AZ
Thank You!
Excellent, Santee! Always liked this poetic character. You did a good job again. Good info.
Thank You!
Thanks for the memories. I had long forgotten that old poem which was recited at the end. 😂😂😂
Thanks for listening
Thanks for another fine video. Black Bart was an interesting fellow. I wore my Arizona Ghostriders tee shirt on Saturday. I absolutely love it. I was happy to see my hero, General Stonewall Jackson in the video, even if it was an actor playing him. Stephen Lang is the actor. The clip was what appeared to be a Yankee officer on horseback. It is actually Colonel Thomas Jackson at 1st Manassas wearing his blue uniform. This was where he earned his alias, Stonewall. He was shortly, after this, promoted to General.
I think it's from Gods and Generals, if I recall. Good film. I bet you or your friends are in it!
@ArizonaGhostriders it is and lot of friends are in it.
The first stagecoach driver was Glenn Strange, Sam the Bartender on Gunsmoke and Butch Cavendish on The Lone Ranger.
OK!
Love the history of this country!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
Right?
Interesting look back at Black Bart. Never knew his shotgun wasn't loaded and he wrote poetry. It sure changes the idea that the old West was so violent. It was a moooing video! LoL couldn't resist Santee.🤠🇺🇲
LOL! Thank you!
Great job, Santee! I find Black Bart quite interesting -- almost a Robin Hood figure.
Weeeelllll...there's some not great stuff about him. I can't find where he sent any of his money to his family he left behind. He also stole some mail early on, which had money in it. So he practiced a little hiprocacy!
Thanks Mr. Santee! Another grand Historical offering!!! Hope that whack from W.W.B. has no lasting affect!!
It hurts, and it dazed me. But no bones broken. Thanks!!!
Absolutely love the Old West history. I did find one book in my research The Gunfighters: James Horan's Authentic Wild West.. Have a blessed weekend.
Got that book...I think!
A sad tale. Truth is always stranger than fiction.
Yeah, and Boessenecker's book points out that his code was a little skewed. For instance, he stole the mail at one point because people would send money and gold dust across country. So, technically that was stealing from the same hard working people riding the stagecoaches.
I loved black Bart as a kid. As always your videos are always great.
Thank You!
Another super awesome episode!! Thanks Santee. Black Bart is a legend
He is! Thank You!
Excellent episode Santee! Guess the cows wanted to be in the video too. You shouldn't tick off Bill! He seems a little sensitive! Have a great weekend! Cheers!
You got that right!
Good evening Santee Excellent story… interesting to see he would rob the stage & not the passengers…had a code of his own…. Thank you!
There's more to the story, but that is a fun part of it.
Thank you for another great video, Santee!🤠
Glad you enjoyed it!
The occupational descendants of Black Bart might be Chris Evans and John Sontag, who made a career out of robbing the SP trains in the San Joaquin Valley. Even James Hume and John Thacker, mentioned here, were involved in chasing them at one point. It didn't end well for either of the two outlaws.
Yeah, it didn't if I recall. I think Sontag got Tetanus from a gun battle. Gotta keep up on your Tetanus shots, if you're an outlaw.
What an interesting deeper look into Black Bart! I figure he never contacted his wife and kids so as not to involve them in his crimes. Gentleman indeed.
You might be right. I wonder if he ever sent them any of his stolen money?
I grew up country and most all of us were poor. I don't think I can remember anyone who would give a hungry man table scraps and disrespect him for asking for a meal. Somehow I find the way that person treated Bart just for being hungry way worse than robbing stagecoaches. In fact it breaks my heart seeing someone rummaging around in a dumpster looking for food while banksters give themselves bonuses for stealing people's homes. So who is the worst thief, Black Bart or Wells Fargo?
Agreed. Some think Boles problem was Wells Fargo, but he was only interested in their money.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Kind of like a Western Willie Sutton.
Thank'YOU Santee❣️🤗
You are so welcome
Mr. Brazelton could use some etiquette lessons from Mr. Bart! Another fantastic episode Santee!
Don't say that! He will come after you! 🤣

Stagecoach driver was Sam the bartender from Gunsmoke.

Great video Santee, and as always enjoy your shows. Thank you so much for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much Santee. I always love these history lessons. Have a great weekend. :)
Glad you like them!
Nice! Sounds like Bill was haunting the herd…
Yep
Funny, Black Bart was the nick name of Bartholomew Roberts, one of the Last Late Great Pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy. He took a grape shoot through his throat on Feb 22 1722. He had vowed never to be taken, so his crew threw him over board before they were captured.
Right. This one is based on a short story Boles read about an outlaw called: THE CASE OF SUMMERFIELD
Great 👏 the Black Bart the man who was afraid of horsers ! But who needs a horse to rob a stagecoach! Thanks amigo
I didn't read he was afraid, but he was worried about being tracked.
@@ArizonaGhostriders I heard an audio book that he was afraid of horses!! I found it interesting and unique!! What did those who were scared of horses in their everyday lives? There were different types of carriages
@@ArizonaGhostriders It makes sense about being tracked .
Great episode Santee, Really enjoyed this one. JT
Thank you, JT.
Weird how people just "Fall into" a career path sometimes. Best of Days to all the Ghostriders.
Just think, if he quit while he was ahead, we would never know who Black Bart was.
Wow such a very awsome and interestingly informative video, I really liked and enjoyed it, great job and well done, keep up the great work. I learned a lot about Black Bart and the old west frontier and I got a lot of inspiration for my old west, retro-vintage, internet horror and video games inspired mythos-franchise project I'm writing micro-dream journal stories for. Today I'll be adding a old west frontier island to my stories and world, the island will be called Tabbantha Isle.
Thanks!! BTW, my AZ Ghostriders facebook got hacked, so if I haven't responded, that's why.
@@ArizonaGhostriders thanks and your welcome. Today I'm getting further inspiration from various different video game topics, internet horror and video game fan content.
Excellent content Santee!!!

Cool stuff, thanks Santee.
You bet!

The Sherlock Holmes club I belong to usd to stage radio play's based on real crimes. But with the inclusion of Holmes and Watson. The first of these that we did was black Bart. The person who did the research and wrote the play followed the version of the events as you gave them pretty close. The one difference was allegedly Bolton's motivation came from Wells Fargo, forcing him off of a productive gold claim he had established. Supposedly the only stages he robbed were Wells Fargo. In any event you gave another wonderful lesson about the history of the old west.
Wells Fargo is not so well-regarded to this day, along with B of A.
Yeah, the Wells Fargo idea has been debunked, since they didn't own gold claims in Montana.
Very informative, thank you
Very welcome
very interesting person, another awesome job thank you

Good video. It was good detective work that got Black Bart, almost like a Sherlock Holmes story.
Yeah!
Well, after tackling with Ralphie and Ol' Blue. I would disappear, too. (A Christmas Story)
HAAHHH!
Such A Great Show !!!!!!
Thank You!
More a tragic story than an outlaw.
Hume probably read him right. He was selfish. Never sent any money to his family, and never was there for his kids and wife.
Another great episode, and who would have the most successful stage coach robber didn't even load his gun! Much to my surprise I find I'm going to Tucson in June and looking forward to getting to Old Tucson!
Please contact me when you come. I work Tuesday-Saturday.
@@ArizonaGhostriders Will do, looking forward to it!
Face is Bill Brazelton, Black Bart managed it without extra ventilation of his internal organs.
He knows. He's just jealous.
Another great episode, Santee! You should consider doing an episode on Chuck Stanton, of Stanton, Arizona.
Great suggestion!
The Gentleman Bandit.

Hey santee, great video! I was wondering if you could do a video about Wild West utensils, or tinware, thanks!!
OK!
Thanks for the cool video of Mr. Bart

Black Bart has always intrigued me, never loading his shotgun and always the gentleman. Unlike your “spirited” friend. lol 😂
Right!
When you realize it sounds like a pirate name , guess this is a form of piracy but on Land.
It is also a pirate name!
Looks like im finally caught up santee❤

I wonder what those poems said. "My condolences for your loss of wealth... What rhymes with wealth?"
Oh, that's a tricky one. I get a feeling something does but I can't quite bring it to mind.

There was a professional wrestler from the 80s named Black Bart.
AND a pirate. Not that unusual a moniker, it seems.
Up until now I thought Black Bart war fictional 😂
LOL!
He has some fame here in Humboldt county CA ...although ther is indian killer history here ..lotta outlaws made ther way here from san Francisco, being that it is only 250 miles north on us 101 redwood highway ....you heard of seth kinman a true mountain man , he was a friend of many US presidents....were out here in the real wild west northern CA in eureka CA...basically by southern oregon ...we are on the coast ...lotta outlaw history of loggers fisherman and indian hunters...also ther was the famous pacific Northwest railway and Pacific lumber company...old 1880s mill with lots of histoty in Scotia CA ...wer im born n raised
Thanks for the information!
I've heard that the phrase "riding shotgun" came from the stagecoaches where an armed guard would ride up beside the driver to protect the strongbox (also the passengers - but mostly, the money.) Given the way you describe robberies, were guards just not that common... or not that effective?
A shotgun is scary weapon because of the spread and mess it makes. Having one pointed at you from the get-go might be a deterrant for many a guard. Also, there is the danger of the passengers getting hurt or killed.
Thanks, Santee. You don't think that cow was a reincarnation of Black Bart wanting to get in on the video do you.
He is a black cow...so possibly.
I only know him from A Christmas Story
HA! Right.
Interesting. You would think his accent would have been a clue the detectives would have used.
San Francisco was a big place.
I think Bill has been in my KZhead feed, and email, there's been a lot of single action reviews and/or info for guns for sale.
Whoah!
HEY,.. SANTEE WOW,, Seems Like your ghost Friend Is always Slapping kicking And
He does that.
Santee rhe ghost of bill brazelton concussing you with a coach gun raised a question any idea when the hammerless coach gun made its way i think ill try to research that i just swapped from a circuit judge revolving carbine to a stoeger sxs
They go back to the first hammerless in 1880
Haven’t we seen this before
Not here....but I checked anyway LOL!
@@ArizonaGhostriders I remember seeing somewhere. I thought it was here. My mistake.
Can you do an episode on Body Armor? Ned Kelly and his gang famously wore it, and it's seen in A Few Dollars More, The Specialists and Back To The Future pt III
I can, but not sure if there's any evidence of it historically here in the states. I'll find out!
It's winter. Shouldn't that Montana Peak be snow capped? 😂
It melted. This is Arizona. Snow melts quickly.

Good one, Santee. Ole Bart was a pretty interesting feller. Never loaded his shotgun or owned a horse?
Yeah, he walked all the way back after every robbery.
Hey Santee could you please do a video on semi auto rifles of the old west
I'll see what I can come up with
@@ArizonaGhostriders thanks
he was smart, if he had loaded weapons he would’ve gotten far worse…instead of scorn he got pity and understanding from the jury
I think of Barney Fife and his one bullet.
Sounds like future hamburgers at the end there, Santee.
They are petting zoo cows...so...not sure about eating them just yet.
