What did we miss? Which angry cycling moments stick in your mind? 👇
Bernard Hinault at Paris Nice throwing punches? C'mon GCN, pro cycling was happening before GCN was established... also Kittle getting bloodied at UAE (IIRC?)... Remco at the world's cussing out for a wheel change. Moscon being a bully. Marco Haller ripping a fan a new one.
Bjarne Riis bike throw tantrum
Alberto Bettio - bottlegate (Aussie Tour Downunder 2023)
In the All Time column: the finish line of Stage 6 of 2010's Tour de France. 'The Fighting Fists of Chicken' (as we dubbed it. Burger related); In the frango corner Rui Costa [Caisse d'Epargne] vs not just the power of pollo in Carlos Barredo [QuickStep] but his front wheel as well.
Juan Pedro Lopez throwing a bottle at Sam Oomen at Giro 22 stage 9. But the footages were zoomed out and blurry so I guess it's not a good feature for a video.
Anybody who has raced knows how easy it can be to let your temper get the best of you, and how quickly it subsides once the tension and nerves settle afterwards.
no
I mostly just get pissed at myself, lol. I've had morons bump shoulders and get really squirrely and dangerous in the peloton, and I just do what I can to get away from them. At the amateur level I never understood guys getting so intense about something that's supposed to be fun.
Roids
'Raced'? Don't make me laugh. Menopausal old men in tights THINKING they can race. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thankfully haven't noticed this much in road racing, mainly because I'm not that good and hang out the back of the pack most of the day and have fun trying the sprints, but summer last year I saw unbelievable tempers during a 24 hour endurance race, it was on a closed circuit so packs formed and were pushing up the back of slower groups, I joined these groups during the day because drafting was allowed for this race but at night I backed off and stayed out to the sides , you could be enjoying the night time peace just trying to stay mentally focused thinking about your breakfast in the morning and you could just hear two people absolutely tearing into each other across the track 😅
More than anything, Pogačar should have been mad at himself. The race was between himself and van der Poel. It will never be known whether or not he could have beaten MVDP, but he sure set himself up to fail by playing games.
We kind of know who beats who in a sprint mvdp just torched him at e3 and smashed him in San Remo mvdp is clearly better unless tue climb is too steep or he puts in too much work before like Flanders
@@balmorrablue3130 Pogacar beat him and WVA in a sprint lol.
@@dannyrose8699 okay? And gaudu beat Wout once that really doesn’t matter we’ve seen several times that pogs sprint is not his strength he’s fast but even of the pure GC guys he’s not that fast Rog Vlasov Hart Martinez can all beat him or would have a very good chance at beating him Just a few months ago mdvp and wva torched his ass at E3 and RVV the year before mdvp put like 6 bike lengths on him in the sprint and even van Baarle who is objectively a bad sprinter for his size smashed him too LBL (I think) saw allaphillipe beat him badly and get relegated if it came down to it I would never back pogi in a sprint against anyone at his level he’s not got the pure top end that other punchy guys do even if his actual kick is equal or better Addendum pogi at MSR literally could not kick and get away from Kragh Andersen even on steep gradients
@@balmorrablue3130Yes, and Gimondi beat Merckx in a sprint once (at the world championship, of all times). But surely you won't use it to say Gimondi was faster than the Cannibal 😅😂
Sven Nys beeing angry at the guy who threw beer at him on each lap - catching him and telling him to behave
2:20 VERY impressive how those two cars simultaneously knocks down a rider each 👀
tbh its the motor bike's fault for the Jayco rider's crash
more impressive how they drive off after blantantly hitting a human being with a car...
@@xMightyTinfoilx It's not random civic road accident - they have to clear the road for other cars, and they knew the riders were okay in those cases. The riders in question also have teams and, if needed, ambulances to help them. No need to stir drama by inventing things.
@@xMightyTinfoilxYeah they should have stopped and waited for police to arrive 🤡
@@xmxu7779 I would say the motorbike rider is the last to blame. the two cars create a traffic jam at the worst place possible and the cyclist comes up from behind. So if the cyclist did not have enough room to break in time how is the motorbiker supposed to do this being even closer to the car in this moment? Furthermore, the cyclist runs up and overtakes the motorbiker from the right and behind. The worst place to be seen from the motorbikers perspective. So no, I would not blame the motorbiker. That incident was created further ahead and above all, I would rather blame the race organizers for leading the race through such an obstacle.
As a cyclist: we are always angry, that's precisely why we cycle.
So the Hulk would be the fastest Cyclist there is 😄😄
@@Aliveandkicking1979 We have to set a race between The Hulk and Mad Max, I would say.
@@Dave-dm7vt Lol. The comment was meant to be a joke, at least partially. Cycling is hard, tho. You might be confusing a struggling face with an angry face. Also, as a sport, it is very relieving. So, if you're angry go and cycle.
I thought it was because you guys shave legs
Roid rage
Hitting people with those little t-Rex arms! 😂
Hahah cyclists definitely aren't known for their upper body strength 😂
@@gcnracing I am not sure about Mathieu van der Poel lol
There needs to be a cyclist soyjack
I just find it amazing that there aren't more serious injuries. I crashed going 28 mph and was out for 4 months and was in the hospital for 5 days. Who says that competitive cycling is not a contact sport. Nice clips Edit: Andy Hampsten and Greg LeMond back in the 80's TDF
Sagan finger pointing at Wout at one of the early stage finishes at TDF2022
Sagan pushing Vantomme on de Kemmelberg (G-W 2017)
Maybe Sagan should’ve spent less time philosophizing about the cosmos and more time cycling whilst on the saddle
I was expecting a Gianni Moscon highlights reel.
Gianni Moscon in trouble more than once 🤔
The less seen of Gianni the better, IMO
Surprised things don’t get heated more often, with all the pain and suffering and when you are on the line of bonking…
Exactly!
True
Trust Remco to be having a tantrum and taking out his frustration on support staff! smh
As a 30 year triathlete, I'd say, as a group, there is a far higher percentage of assholes who are cyclists than most other groups of people. Also, typically people who are assholes on their bikes are also assholes behind the wheels of their cars.
Sounds like a**holes gonna a**hole, right?
could do a complete video on Cavendish giving out to his teammates!
Or his mechanic 😉
agreed
@santiagobenites Or cameramen.
Tom Steels: That Bottle Throw has to be one of the most iconic moments of rider rage.
Nope. Bjarne Riis and/or David Millar take that particular crown.
@@mrjikes60 Yeah I was thinking throwing a bike tops throwing a bottle ;)
Very true
the cars and motor bikes on the same course getting in the way is hilarious
i think thats a scam
bunch a genius' out there eh haha@@KU-mg9el
if only there was more behind the scenes footage of junior races :)
Nothing funnier than watching people wearing spandex angry.
cav being cav, what a great year of cycling
These mostly seem quite tame! What about all of the bike throwing incidents, or Lopez beating up a fan in the 2019 Giro?
I think it was 2021 but I still can't get over when cav yelled at his mechanic about his steering
Still waiting for the 1st one!..was expecting a few fights. Man this was tame.
The last time I cycled to the shops , a car pulled out of a driveway. I was very angry.
Why aren’t you in the video?
Bloody hell that's the best you can do? Rider on the track calls out a line and waves his hand around? There's been actually punches thrown in pro cycling this was B grade stuff at best.
All menopausal men in tights do this. They hit parked cars and throw their hands in the air as though it's the cars fault. Little tantrums, in line with their mentality. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mean...make your own video, I guess?
@@ericfaulk2204 Why? All cyclists are menopausal old men in tights trying to prove their lost manhood. Women on bi-cycles. Every clip of bi-cyclist riders shows 'men' slapping at each other like Karen's. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious watching them get their Lycra in a twist!
That's a lot of road rage going on
All those spaghetti arms throwing punches😅😅😅
One time we were a group of 4 riders and this white dude driving a big truck tried to run us out of the road, and he made the mistake of stopping at the store. We went into the parking lot and into the store to confront barefooted and he was so apoplectic and sweet, knowing that he was up for a drumbeat. Never be aggressive towards drivers when cycling, not a good idea at all.
Perhaps the most egregious example is Andy Lakatosh intentionally crashing Jame Carney right after a keirin race at the Lehigh Valley velodrome, 2005. Lakatosh thought Carney impeded his teammate and therefore hit his bars intentionally to make him crash. He did while the race was being filmed and the video is available on KZhead. He was suspended for 6 months. Track director Marty Nothstein and teammate Leigh Barczewski were also suspended due to their forceful defence of Lakatosh.
Omg, I didn't know this is where all the drama happened lol. As a runner I am extremely entertained by this :D
The other thing is, fast cycling is painful. People in pain don't always react rationally.
Us chronic pain patients can back that statement up
Be interesting to hear about Dan's maddest moment racing.
Just another day on London’s roads 👌🤣
what is that breaking maneuver at 0:36? is it meant to stop the other guy's wheel from turning and crash him?
Couldn't you dig up the TdF vids of the two 120 lb climbers juking around on road cleats while duking it out after the finish line?
2:22 was epic. 😂
Surprised to see the Holy Remco St. Merckx in this video only once. I don't think I've ever seen a race with him not having a complete meltdown at least once - or him not behaving like such a major pain in the glutes that others are justifiably angered by it.
If you are behind you have to accept the guy in front can choose his line. No reason to be upset about it
Strange how on other channels, when a cyclist rear-ends another cyclist, whilst pedalling frantically: menopausal old men in tights jump in blaming the 'Lane changer'. You're all dangerous to life.
When one is a FULL bike's length in front, I would agree. However, allowing the rider in front to overlap the second rider or to cause him to break in order not to be overlapped, seems in no way justified. With that logic, the second rider might just as well give up on winning.
easy for you to say when you have no skin in the game or at the least be able to empathize. 🤣
Just as the morons do in real traffic and die. You indicate when you change lanes: that's the law.
I was taught that you are responsible for your front wheel!!!
How did I get here from When Butterflies Attack ?
Thanks.
0:42 "I won it! I won it! I won it and I HATE you!..."
Oh the joy of watching thin riders slap fight...those are my favorite. And Contador throwing his bike a couple of times. And didn't Lance throw a little punch at a spectator? These are adrenaline fueled elite athletes, i expect and forgive all of the heated reactions. (But if you have a Heated Cyclists pt 2, more slap fighting please) 😄
Wowza, Remco was lucky not to push the wrong person as he may have been having hospital dinners for a while. The guy needs to be very careful as he will end up with a lot of unhelpful riders in the peloton who wont be having any shiz from him!
Juan Pedro Lopez throwing a bottle at Sam Oomen at Giro 22 stage 9 should have been if the footages weren't all so zoomed out and blurry.
Definitvely missed Miguel Angel Lopez in the giro after a fan brought him down
Just goes to show you that every sport is a little more violent than we think…
Cycling, simply brilliant
Good that there are only reasonable people in the comments who definitely would never hate on an entire group of people because of the misbehavior of a few. Kinda reminds of something else…
the classic lopez hat-slap.
Cav getting angry? Never 😂
And Cav not himself changing lines when in front in a sprint? Never
Yeah, dope usually makes a bit more on edge
Wow! Brutal. Cmon
oh no! slap fight! 🤣🤣
Regarding the Remco wheel change fit, someone clipped him in the echelons causing spokes to break or such, which is why he already was so on edge. Then the mechanic really fumbled things up. Normally losing a bit more time isn't that bad, but with echelons, you can lose a lot of time. The turner incident was Turner and Sheffield riding in the way to stall a break attempt, Turner even at some point cut Remco off when he was moving to the front. Obviously Remco should have played it differently, but it wasn't like his outburst came out of nowhere. Really should show/provide more context in a clip like this.
I personally don't see pogačar's incident as anything other than his own mistake and miss judgement of the sprint
The narrower the tires, the more tantrums.
Froomy punching that fan who got too close
I cna definitely tell you when cyclists get mad - when they find out someone stole their shaving kit and now they have to race with unshaved legs.
Makes sense...they are always angry!!! Lol
Schurter v Flueckiger at Lenzerheide last season......the third incident in less than a year.....
Do the cars need to be on the course?
Me, when a car pulled out of a driveway of a restaurant ignoring me and forcing me to a full break, resulting in a frontwheel wheely at the driver side of the Kwantum team car driven by mr. Jan Raes himself. But seeing his shocked face made me laugh again. No harm done there. No even a scatch on both bike (a Motobecane diffusion) and the Volvo 245 GL.
Surprisingly not you can see that cars and motorbikes are causing the same trouble weither in a race or in the real life. This also goes for people. The crowd...
the cycling-guys just very gentle
Damn I just love sports
poor little girls lol
i have personally witnessed 4 times that teams conspired to keep peter sagan from winning a sprint. all at the tour de france!!!!!!!!!
- Theo Bos criminal move vs Impey - Moscon vs Debusschere - Bouhanni - Steels and Cipo bottle throws - Costa fight - Angry Haller after bottle snap by fan - Sagan vs Van Aert - Nys vs fan - Wellens’ kick - Groenendaal throwing a punch - Albert vs bridge - Boom agressive celebration Hammer Series - Evans vs cameraman - Riis bikethrow - Fedorov vs Vergaerde - Brambilla vs Rovny - Cav vs cameraman - …
Miguel Ángel López punching a guy
TOP👍👍
I’m way more angry cycling compared to other sports, I suspect the bike is in the way of spending the anger
Google tradutor please
i wont pay to watch the cycling, but i'd pay to watch the fights :D
I once got stabbed with the blunt end of a toothpick, turns out it was just a cyclist trying to punch me.
No mention of Nacer Bouhanni?
How many people do you think have been hit by cars on the Tour de France?
Oo mommy, that boy punched me.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why Pogacar was angry? Locked himself in the box and he is being angry ))) Still young and needs more experience for sure.
Remco seems very intense while racing.
Menopausal old men in tights. All going through the 'change' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
These guys are never not angry.
Ive never understood all the cars and motorbikes in the European races. I often wonder who is actually racing, cars or bikes.
Disappointed not to see Jeroen Blijlevens in this video, guess it was before GCN's time
Giro d italia 2022, No wonder the guy was pissed. i've seen them live in Kobarid, Slovenia just before the death climb from idrsko to Livek, That was a dirty move into the last corner..
Road rage is a real thing, every one knows this.
Tom Steels throwing his bidon mid bunch sprint in TdF Bernard Hinault punching French protesters Rob Miller hitting a spectator after being brought down on an alpine climb in TdF
Thought I’d see some UFC actions, but am a bit disappointed ☹️
Do all cyclists just buy sunglasses to wear them on their helmet or what?😂
About as exiting as watching paint dry 🥱
I'd be angry, riding with no suspension whatsoever on boring streets built for cars and trucks 😢
Cav is a lil B 😂
On KZhead "Kurioses - Hooligans beim Giro 2005"
Man UAE was in almost every one 💀
I am amazed by cyclists😱. Like, you need yo be strong but not big, you need insane agility and balance. The lack of space in the lanes?? I would crash in less than 1 foot of the start line.
Then thumbnail is more exciting than the actual video.
It is amazing how the UCI is a stickler for sock heights, yet is always soft on bad behavior. Intentionally pushing an opponent should always be a disqualification. That they aren’t shows that is still lt a serious sport, held back by its past.
Chile 🇨🇱
Le vélo de course c'est un sport moisi avec un respect inexistant
In the words of Vettel: What are we doing? Racing or ping pong?
