0:20 i like how the CUDA core difference between these GPU's correspond to a display resolution
Haha true
Nvidia is lying with their new Cuda core numbers.....RTX 3000 simply has hyperthreading which only adds about 30-40% performance....The 2060 has 1920 Cuda cores......The 3060 has 1920 Cuda cores/3840 Cuda Threads......But Nvidia decided to count threads as cores. smh

Thank youuuu. Two quick questions. I am thinking of buying the gigabyte aero 15 11th gen with 3060. It has a GPU power limit of 105 watts. Will it be much slower than this? And secondly...Any chance u can compare using Filmora as well for timeline scrubbing and export times?
Thank so much, this is exsactly what i need to see, perfect video, not long stuff, and clear opinión, thank so mich
Hey, Jarrod! Great comparison! But can i ask a question. You own XMG 15 Neo with 11800H and 5800h. And Legion 5 Pro has same two variants, i know that you dont own Intel one, but theoretically how do you think, if we would compare Legion 5 Pro with 11800H vs Legion 5 Pro 5800H both with 3060, how do you think, in lower resoultion 1920x1200, what would show better gaming results? Especially at lowest settings (not particularly in CPU bounded games). After watching your XMG video, i just thought maybe Intel 5 Pro would show far more better results with two times digits in fps in 1200p? Im so unsure because Intel variant has slim charger 230W in any configuration, so i am afraid it will be less powerful in high performance tasks/games in comparison to 5800h with 300W charger.
Thank you for always making great content, Jarrod. All the best.
Still the best channel ever! Thank you always for these informative vids! 🙏
I'm just here to see which Amon Amarth shirt you are rocking today :D Great content as always. Rock on Jarrod!
Thank you for doing this comparison review. Take my sub!
The screen quality on the RP-15 with 3060 though... way better than the previous one imo.
That's good! It would have been perfect for this comparison but don't think I'd be able to get it.
Another great comparison given these were different specs but in the real world that's how it is unless you're really picky and particular about brand and specs. thanks. A suggestion, it would be nice to see the % differences alongside the bar graphs to make it easier to follow visually. Also, after doing so many comparisons and benchmarks of laptops and hardware you must have quite a database, it might be informative to see it all in one(or multiple) graph(s), to viewers. And it would be great if you picked what you think is the best performance PC benchmarks for different categories (fps, power, etc) and use it as a Standard, even if it's a desktop, if not the best laptop, maybe even last year's or whenever you felt like some PC was the "one", and then normalize other devices' benchmarks to it.
Hi Jarrod, thanks for your quality work. I have a question, is the Lenovo Legion 5 with a 5600H + RTX 3060 good enough for gaming, or will there be a big difference in gaming wit hthe 5800H version ? The 5800H version is still not available in my country. Thanks
Games these days rely on the GPU more than the CPU so the difference between 5600h and 5800h is not gonna be that big.
Love your videos brotha. Just curious, what software do you use to show the graphs in your videos? Excel?
Yes. Excel.

do we have chance to see this review also you said. I really want to do a Legion 5 vs 5 Pro review, but at the moment I've only got data for the 3070 Pro while my regular 5 is a 3060. Not sure if I should just go ahead and do it or wait and see if I can borrow something else in future. It's probably not worth buying a whole 5 Pro just to compare... or is it?
Been waiting for this. Great work mate
Nice comparison. The 30 series laptops are solid uplift over their predecessors. I updated to 140W 3080 laptop from a 960 laptop and it's leaps and bounds more performance. Actually beats out my desktop with a 5700XT.
Well done! But I would also love to see them both compared on 1440p external screen as the cpu differences don't have any effect on games performance.
The Legion 5 has a MUX switch.
the higher you go, the more vRAM you need, and 6 gigs already started showing their limits these days, which can be seen in comparison between the laptop and desktop 3060б so I wouldn't recommend going above 1080p for 3060
@@bickboose9364 It's right but both laptops have 1080p screen and in this resolution the cpu differences has a great effect on gaming performance but in 1440p the games become almost 100% gpu bound and this would give better gpu comparisons.
@@TabalugaDragon Yes exactly this is another cons side of 1440p gaming with low vram but despite that yet it may give a better comparison since the rtx 3060 has higher boost clock with higher TDP and also got faster GDDR6X memory (in the desktop version) these may help specially when both cards are limited on vram.
@@ahmadabdulhakim9475 what do you mean GDDR6x? Only higher end desktop cards have that memory, not 3060. Just googled it again and everywhere in specs it says GDDR6.

Sick shirt, got the same one on the 2012 tour :)
Usually doubling the shader count translates to doubling of performance, here it couldn't even manage a flat 50% improvement in most cases. I honestly don't think these GPUs have as many CUDA cores as Nvidia claims. These feel like the same number but like... With some weird hyperthreading equivalent in use. I mean, it's right in line with other products when comparing HT vs non-HT.
Might be due to the fact that while the power consumption is very similar, the 3060 nearly has twice the cores, so each core would have about half the power in the 3060 as compared to the 2060
@@samgraffen9212 Yes, it's a power limitation. That's why the desktop card is faster, with the same chip.
I swear my rp-17 had a mux switch in the bios. I'm honestly pretty shocked how much of a difference there is between 2060 and 3060. I expected closer to 15-20%.

Thank you so much Jarrod, impeccable gaming laptop videos! Anyways it's almost 2022 and I'm still gaming on a GTX 1650 Laptop, but in late 2022 I am planning to buy an RTX 3070 laptop, hopefully prices will go down a bit because the cheapest 3070 laptop I could find was almost 1,400 euros, my budget after I sell my GTX 1650 laptop for around 500 euros or so is 700 euros so that brings me to a total budget of 1,200 euros. Worst case scenario if they don't go down in price I might end up with an RTX 3060 laptop instead. I reckon it's a huuuuugee performance jump from a simple 1650.
Same position but i will wait for 4060
i’ve bought my first laptop in 2015 and it was a lenovo y700, with the 960m. after 7 years i’ve found an offer in a shop: hp omen 15 from 1700 euros to 999euros, i didn’t even blink to get that laptop in my hands. Its a 2060 with 100w and it slaps. The only advice i can give u is just search a lot not only on the internet, or maybe wait for black friday, a lot of my friends bought their laptops during that period

Same, but mine is an Asus Rog Strix. It gets the job done well. I agree I don't think it's worth it to upgrade if you already have a 2060 laptop. I'd rather keep my 2060 laptop and save the money to build a 306ti or 3070 desktop!
Hey Jarod , is there any technology that can be installed to track laptops because as a student I've been stolen two laptops and it's really painful

Hi people! What are your thoughts on Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3? I've seen they released a version with AMD Ryzen 5-5600H and RTX 3060, 8GB RAM 512GB SSD for USD1000 and I can't decide between the Lenovo Legion 5 AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3050Ti, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD that costs USD1050. The RTX3050ti really holds me back because upgrading to legion RTX 3060 goes too high for my budget.
I’ve heard the ideapad gaming 3 is pretty bad and the screen ain’t great either. I would think to maybe for last years legion 5 with a 2060
The 3060 is insane, but I can't stomach the cost. Going for a 1660 Ti / 2060 instead. Thanks Jarrod! Edit: Indonesian prices are insane. Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (5800H + 3060): $1800 Asus ROG Strix G15 (5800H + 3060): $1700 Acer Nitro 5 (5800H + 3060): $1250 Lenovo Legion 5i (10750H + 1660 Ti): $1250 Lenovo Legion 5i (10750H + 2060): $1250 - $1400 Take that as you will.
Idk where you live but in Europe, there's a big chance you can get a Legion with 3060 with 5800H and stock RAM for only 100 or 200 Euros more since a lot of retailers seem to be trying to clear the Legion released last year.
They are priced similarly
3060 not that expensive. Seen them go as low as 1100
@@tayduatrinhcoi Hey, yeah, I live in Southeast Asia. Laptops are considerably more expensive here, the Legion 5 Pro is about $1800 here (5800H + 3060) and most 3060 laptops, besides the ones with lower color gamut like the Nitro 5 / MSI GF65 are north of $1500, usually retailing for about $1700. A 1660 Ti laptop, on the other hand, like last year’s Legion 5/5i, usually goes for $1200-$1300 around here. I can’t really go out on a limb and pull out an extra couple hundred bucks. You should keep it for at least 3 4 years and 4000 in laptop will come in 2023
Upgrade it in the next 2 years at least. 2060 is still good, unless if you’re working professionally and work with a time limit thus needing a better machine for rendering 3D models or calculations/simulations.

It would have been nice to see the performance without turning on the mux switch and just as a laptop. That's what most people will see in the real world. It's also maybe just me... lol
I don't think it makes sense to introduce a bottleneck like that when the goal is to compare the two GPUs at their best. If you want to see optimus on vs off results there's a whole video for that here: kzhead.info/sun/adGQmcmrlmald6s/bejne.html
@@JarrodsTech I get your point, but my point is, regular users are more concerned about real world performance when they own the laptop. This means what fps will I actually see (since most normal folks don't have an extra monitor when they buy a laptop). Thank you for the link to the mux "off" tests.
RP-15 does NOT have MUX fyi
@@pkpnyt4711 @dustojnikhummer Except many gaming laptops *do* have a mux switch built-in and/or advanced optimus. In 2021, it's weirder for a gaming laptop to not have a mux switch than have one. The only gaming laptops that don't have a mux switch are typically the cheaper ones, which also have lower GPU wattage, which has a way more severe impact on framerates in most (modern, non-esports) games. If Jarrod wanted to make every comparison relevant to "regular users" he would need to test all sorts of different RAM/CPU/Power/Thermal/Mux on or off configurations which becomes pretty ridiculous pretty fast - basically having to test every single laptop in it's previous and current gen configurations.
@@pkpnyt4711 the rtx 2060 is already performing so badly compared to the 3060 even with 'optimus disabled' so just imagine what the difference would be if you had done a normal test. I think the aim of this video was to test these GPU's at their best and it does exactly that.
Hey Jarrod, is the Legion 5 with RTX 3050 a good buy?
Remember that the 3050 only have 4vram so that's an impediment to considerate.
It's not. Do not waste your money. 4GB of VRAM makes the card choke every single time when any serious game is included. There was a comparasion between 3050TI and GTX 1660TI and old GTX due to more memory basically ate that card alive in games.
Nope. Its a utter shitshow. Look, if you don't mind a average display, the $1150 nitro 5 with a 5600h and a 90w 3060 is pretty solid.

If you're willing to go from Ultra to High/Medium optimized settings it's gonna last you quite a while. Ultra settings just don't produce enough of a noticeable change in visual fidelity nowadays imo. My standard will always be Crysis 1, going from High to Very High you could tell at first glance that the atmosphere of the game was different, visually speaking. If I need to stare at a specific spot to notice the difference then the performance trade-off is not worth it in my opinion. Ray Tracing on the other hand does produce a really noticeable difference. I hope that future Ray Tracing enabled games will also use DLSS because it's such a game changer when it comes to performance. I'm running Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on High Settings and High RT in 4K "Performance" DLSS and it maintains a stable 60fps 95% of the time on my laptop RTX 3060.
I'am using a 17' 1440p screen Eluktronics Laptop with 3060 and by connecting to an external 1440p screen the perfomance is great. 60 fps most games and 120 fps on Shotters. 2060 laptops are bad for 1440p.
