This is what happens when you become a truck driver, you’re wife wants to go with you, you both like RVs, you both like to travel, and you’ve got the money to do this kind of thing. Huge props to them for doing what they enjoy! I hope the ride is smooth as butter!
For what it costs it damn right better be a smooth ride!
Nice...nice
@@stevedirdochegal6568 how much?
Well, if you're not raising kids and they're grown and gone of course my wife is coming with me that goes without saying.
Thank you sir, we do love what we do and we enjoy our life when at work, we do like going home as well
This has more space than a New York City apartment
At 1/4th the price and it makes you money
@@timothyaldridge1236 a fu** ton of money
Or English house.
My keyboard has more space than an NYC apartment.
The engine bay is probably the size of your average 1600/month no utilities Manhattan room (i say room because if you have no bathroom other than one shared by the whole building its not an apartment)
I occasionally see extended tractors of this sort on the road, for some reason nearly always pulling trailers for moving companies (Mayflower is one I definitely remember), and it amazes me how the drivers can maneuver these monsters. It's damn shocking to consider that this truck had to set the Smiths back well beyond a half a million when brand new.
From what I’ve read, the reason that they’re usually moving company trucks is that these trucks are limited as to their total weight as well as the trailer size, so the only time you have the spare weight to put into a giant cab like this is when your cargo isn’t very dense (as is the case with moving personal possessions or parcels).
@@casey6556 That would explain a lot. Thanks for the insight.
@@casey6556 makes sense. Yeah I remember always seeing them on mayflower and united van lines trucks when I was a kid
@@casey6556 moving companies are not limited on weight all 5 axle tractor trailers can go to 80,000 pounds moving companies household goods usually cube out before grossing out on weight, the moving company's special products side will also cube it out before they get to max weight, these bunks are for convenience when waiting on loading and unloading times
@@kw900lkevin I think you missed his point while stating it at the same time. You’re in agreement that a moving companies load could be less dense therefore working within this vehicles GVWR. Its not the moving company that’s limited, that was never stated by anyone. The limits were in reference to the tow rig due to its massive size relative to a more standard rig
I'm not a truck driver, but wow what a gorgeous truck! These folks seem to be down to Earth friendly people. I wish them both the very best, and save travels. Thanks. John.
Please understand the freight they are carrying before you leave ignorant comments. They haul jet engines basically airport to airport they will never be backing into tight spots. This truck is perfect for what they are using it for. If you listened to them they said they are out for 8 to 9 months then take the winter off. This type of hauling is not for everyone but perfect for the ones that like it. This is a perfect job for husband & wife teams.
J W oh my goodness, please tell them again!!! They must have watched this with the volume off!
thanks. is there a video with that or similar truck in action?
inftube subscribe and check out the channel for yourself it’s a host of big rig videos to watch.
Ahh great points!
But still. Your telling me that they don't ever need to turn@ a small intersection? I would love to see this with a trailer on it threw a drive course.
This is beautiful. As a truck driver, I love seeing my fellow truckers do it big like this.
Nah... this is ugly and stupid
It's a Truck you don't use for work almost. Just cruising.
I drove OTR for 10 years. I can't imagine trying to maneuver that Beast in NYC. Or turning a corner in any major city.
Most truck stops, you'd have trouble parking
I'm thinking the same thing! Some of the places I've been it would have been impossible.
This tractor alone looks as big as most British lorries with their trailers included
Instead of “sleeper cab” how about “apartment cab”
Cando cab...lol
@@kbkb7938 dont you mean condo
@@henryscharff496 maybe its with an australian accent
You said that right. It actually looks better than my condo!
@Citex22 yeah right 😂
The best looking rig I've ever seen. I'd love to see this house on wheels rolling down the interstate at night, it's got to be a rolling Christmas tree all lit up. Bravo to the Smith's.
Thank you
Pull a stocked refrigerated trailer, and you have a restaurant on wheels. Home cooked meals on the road.
Saw one like this years ago, they called it "Size Matters".
Looks like shit.. Americans have 0 sense of taste.
The interior is from the 80's
I worked at a Kenworth dealership/repair shop years ago. We occasionally had some extended sleepers come through. The longest one had three rear axles and a tag axle that was under the sleeper. It had slide outs, full-size washer/dryer, shower, bathroom, kitchen (with stove, fridge, freezer), and a master bedroom. The back deck plate was a patio with a grill and smoker. The couple said they spent close to $2 million for the custom tractor and matching trailer. They hauled exotic cars and could fit up to 9 in the trailer. 4 down and 4 up using the lift, plus their personal subcompact that was loaded at the back of the trailer.
Damn!!👍✌️
Awesome! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing.
Rig will require a Mullet Class registration - business in the front, party at the back.
😂
I work at the Peterbilt in Denton in the "sleepers" department, and I can't imagine how much detail went into making this.
Beautiful rig!!!
how hard is it to get into a dealership? I was just around there a few weeks ago lol
@@blackoutkr8183 From what I know we don't make the trucks until they are paid for. Each one is custom built to the customers liking and they drive them out the warehouse once finished. But there isn't a dealership of finished trucks for sale.
This is a work of art ! Ferrari or Bugatti of peter-built
@@tonym8765 probably cost more
What an incredible and beautiful beast of a truck. A true masterpiece!
Amazing design. Beautiful work for the rig. Intelligent setup with minimal space. And the people are just awesome. I know they they are running jet engines, but the thing that scares me would be the weight and fuel consumption. Still, it really is a gorgeous rig.
I am not a Trucker but these kind of Trucks are sooo awesome , Congrats on a rig like this .
@hello Marc how are you doing?
The Truck for the guy that never wants to go home to his wife and kids. The only thing that needs is a lawn and water feature. 🤣
I agree 💯
Driving green with fountains on top of the truck 👌
No joke, that a house all by itself.
They are provided for that’s all that matter quality time is over rated
You can drive with your wife together but then you can only have one child because the space should be enough for only three.
That thing is a beast! More than I need, I like minimal on my hauls, but that’s just me. 100% appreciate that beauty.
I’ve never seen a cab this large! Amazable!
As an old owner operator that has a Mack with a "sleeper" so small that my feet had to stick out of the open fire ext door I am in awe! Great job, use it in safety and good health.
Also very grateful someone sliced off those feet as they stuck out of the open fire exit door.
So u tellin me a random person could come and slap ur feet while u sleepin💀
Just imagine the truck breaking down and you can just go back to sleep and worry about it next week lol
Yep! "Can I get a bonus stipend for security work in your shop? If anyone tries to steal tools I'll stop'em!"
Just imagine cummins breaking down 🤣
This truck shines bright like a diamond.
Awesome folks all around.. great color of truck.
Had the pleasure of meeting this couple down in Phoenix. We had a good conversation and I admired their rig in person and now on this video. Safe travels my friends. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

That is hardcore commitment right there.
This is Awesome thank you
He doesn't just have a "sleeper" in the back. Dude has a full on RV in the back 😂
Thank you for letting us see your rig. If I saw you driving down the road I’d probably go off the road trying to catch a glimpse before you drove past. Absolutely beautiful. Was dying to see in the living quarters. Keep it between the lines and stay safe. John from cape cod.
I’ve seen a few super sleepers on the freeway and I concur, the rubbernecking is real.
I've always loved the 389s
A whole new level of working from home.
You don't gotta be a big rig trucker to appreciate this beauty!
Thank you for this video... great interview. I've reading many of the comments and replies below, 85% of it is ignorant BS. I'm a retired owner operator with 51 yrs of trucking behind me.... so I do know a little about trucking. This couple is leased to Southern Pride, which is primarily a Very Specialized carrier in the transporting of Military and commercial jet aircraft engines... which generally only weigh between 3,000 to 8,000 lbs (depending on type and application) and they rarely haul more than One engine per trip... though, occasionally will have Two or Three depending on engine size, so weight is NOT a big concern as far as the truck is concerned. Also, they generally haul engines that are scheduled for overhaul on the eastbound run... usually to either General Electric's Jet Engine division or to Pratt & Whitney, and return westbound with a "fresh" engine(s) and the time factor from point "A" to point "B" in either direction is Very "tight" and there is NO time for sitting around truck stops or anywhere else en-route... which is why ALL of Southern Prides Owner/Operators have "Large Cars", Not "just" the Smiths here in this video... though some are Not as long in the wheelbase as this one. Southern Pride also does GSE moves (Ground Support Equipment) which also includes Over-dimensional as well as aircraft parts, not only in the contiguous lower 48, but also internationally.... I think that in the now 40+ years in business.... they probably have things figured out a bit better than some of the "expert" nay sayers on here. Southern Pride Only accepts the Very Best of the Best for Owner/Operators with Years of proven experience behind them and with impeccable credentials, both as previous long term Owner/Operators and in personal character.... which would exclude At Least 85% of the "wanna be" (re: Phony) truck drivers I see climbing out of trucks these days, with nose rings, spandex, tattoo's from head to toe, pajamas, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum... and no real integrity to speak of. Over 90% of Southern Prides Owner/Operator teams are Husband & Wife (as in Male & Female), and most of them have been married for Many years with no prior marriages..... they are "Solid" people. The Owner/Operators who have what it takes to "make the grade" and are excepted to run for Southern Pride... make a Very Nice living, close to $300,000 per year... Minimum. As Chris Smith stated... they spend most of the year, on the road... straight out with very time sensitive, High Value loads, the rigs that SP's O/O's have... are built for what they do (though there are some that have bought "2nd hand", but are very suitable for the running and loading conditions with SP, so all this garbage I'm reading on here about "they're too heavy" - "too long" - "can't back up a trailer" - "very impractical", etc, etc, etc, ad-nauseam.... is pure BS, written by a bunch of faceless "keyboard cowboy experts" who are completely ignorant of the subject at hand.
2Stroke Diesel Power thank you for this comment!
Great comment that explains well what it's all about.
@End this police corruption..... I do Not recall discussing the overall length, not their trailer length - individually. If you're looking for an argument, or trying to just be insinuative... I'm not playing that game with you, nor anyone else.... nor do I need to give a detailed report to you on my years of experience.... which is now approaching 51 years, over 30 years as an O/O... and just so you know... my longest load was 287' 9" long... a refinery vessel hauled to the refinery way up in Yellow Knife, NWT. You don't need 53 nor 48' trailers to haul jet engines... SP is legal in All 48 states. PS: I will say one thing.... I agree with your "handle" here on YT.
2Stroke Diesel Power very well said Sir. Love it
End this police corruption You are an ignorant moron that knows dick about length because I go into every state without permits. If you want to talk about romper room then you will know more then
GOD BLESS PETERBILT TRUCKS! A FIFTH WHEEL SO SHINNY YOU WOULD THINK TWICE OF HITCHING THIS TO ANY TRAILER!
Now that's living large on the road. If I had that rig I'd just live in it. Have me a PO box in my hometown but that rig would be my home.
I think it looks impractical but the fact that it exists at all means that someone knows this won't effect their bottom line so good on them for being able to do a very difficult job in more comfort than most.
So you think people never make mistakes?
Beautifully crafted Peterbilt! Love the bright yellow. Very well thought through living space. Well done Peterbilt and custom builders to put this truck together 👍👏
That is the most amazing truck I have every seen ! Simply beautiful ! Safe travels to y'all !

Haters gonna hate. All of these negative comments are amazing. There are lot of big bunk trucks on the road. Most of these trucks don't bump docks. They don't worry about 90-degree backs into a tiny alley off some trashy street in downtown LA. These owners haul $$$ freight and can afford these incredible rigs. As with anything in life, people that can't, complain and put down other people's accomplishments. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Smith on your beautiful rig and safe travels. I hope to own one in the near future. God bless.
This is the best comment by far!
True shit that.
All the shit talkers are probably driving some off lot base model and are jealous of someone who has such an amazing truck.

All that extras will not affect performance and fuel consumption...... Mahahaha.

Great video. Specialty hauling is the way to go. Every time I see the Reliable trucks hauling collector cars I think how cool it would be to have a job like that.

Previous auto transport, HHG, HVP, car carrier driving jobs or similar specialized experience Dedicated to customer satisfaction and good company relations Compliance with FMCSR, company safety policy and tax regulations Clean motor vehicle record Have verifiable experience in driver safety and cargo securement Qualified drivers candidates are rewarded with strong revenue, and full administrative support for your operation.
