Top 10 | Most Beautiful and Expensive Tiara in History
Tiara refers to a jeweled headpiece that a woman wears for important formal occasions. A tiara usually looks like a small crown and is often worn by royalty or nobility. The largest collection of tiaras in the world is said to belong to Queen Elizabeth II.
Today, the word "tiara" is often used interchangeably with the word "diadem", and tiara is often translated to a word similar to diadem in other languages. Both words come from head ornaments worn by ancient men and women to denote high status. As Geoffrey Munn notes, "The word 'tiara' is actually Persian in origin-the name first denoted the high-peaked head-dresses of Persian kings, which were encircled by 'diadems' (bands of purple and white decoration). Now, it is used to describe almost every form of decorative head ornament." Ancient Greeks and Romans used gold to make wreath-shaped head ornaments, while the Scythians' resembled a stiff halo that would serve as the inspiration for later Russian kokoshniks. The use of tiaras and diadems declined along with the decline of the Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity.

I could stare at these jewels all day and not get bored.
Hello there, thank you so much for dropping by. i am just you liked the video. really appreciate it.
I can stare at this beautiful Russian girl that I know all day long and not get bored
I salute to the hands which made such precious tiaras.
I love the Aquamarine tiara and accompanying pieces that Elizabeth II favored. They looked beautiful on her, especially against her snowy white hair!
They are just amazing
Stunning
They’re all so beautiful in their own way, but the lover’s knot is my favorite, and always will be. Lovely video.
feast your eyes...
oh boy!! the husband is in trouble
My aunt Emma, a daughter of a poor farmer was married to Russian royalty before WW2, and after her husband died during the war (husband and her father was shot on her birthday by the Germans when fleeing Poland) had to give up her royal title as there were no children to inherit the titles. All jewelry was also to be returned to the royal family. When she immigrated to Canada and married a Canadian Polish descendant, her husband, just an average worker in a factory in Toronto, Ontario, bought my Aunt Emma an emerald ring. She was his Canadian princess and he would do his best to give her a lovely emerald ring as best as he could afford. Aunt Emma worked in a mattress factory, sewing mattresses until her Canadian husband passed away. She moved to Edmonton, Alberta and passed away a few years later after a debilitating stroke. An amazing woman, who should have become a doctor.
I live in Alberta and I too come from a family of Polish Nobles :) unfortunately, they were stripped of everything during the war. The way my grandmother lives and acts, you would have no doubt that she is descended from nobility. She is the most beautiful and graceful woman.
My family used to he scottish nobility, but in the 19th century the castle was sold and the family scattered to the wind, ending up all the way into Texas.
War ruins people, it's so sad. Your aunt sounds like a beautiful lady ❤
Thank you for sharing your amazing family story
I’m from both German and Polish.. my last name was “Von Werner” until we apparently dropped using it after the war.. my mothers side was the polish

The Brazilian Aquamarine Tiara is eye-catching. I love it!
I cannot imagine how heavy these things were to wear....for hours. The raging headache you'd have wearing these. They're beautifully crafted, and masterpieces to be sure.
I was thinking about the pull on the earlobes myself! Imagine how stretched the lobes would be after decades of wearing them? Ouch!
I think I would chance it to wear something so lovely.
That's why I don't wear mine. The heaviness and all the headaches.

I am in love with tiaras for the craftsmanship is extraordinary to admire. I had never dreamed of being a Queen or a Princess but tiaras are divine.
The Princess Alexandra tiara is my favorite tiara in the entire world. Maybe because I've had an obsession with the Romanovs since I was a little girl, I watched the movie Anastasia so much as a kid, and I still love it to this day. Yes, I know, the original story is heartbreaking and tragic, but I still love the film.
Empress Alexandra was the epitome of high class elegance......a beautiful combination of british and russian royalty......i hate she and the rest of the romanovs met such a tragic fate
Diamond Rose it’s a beautiful piece Queen Mary was a person who could wear a tiara she was made for it outstanding was Queen Mary!
Yes The Albert to Queen Victoria Tiara is outstanding!
I recognized the tiara from the Anastasia movie, it is indeed stunning!
You should see their faberge eggs too....❤️
These pieces are astoundingly beautiful
Yeah they are 😊
The Brazilian aquamarine is stunning! The necklace, earrings all of it!
Brazilian aguamarine colambia emeralds iran tourguoice indian suphire europeangueens
My favorite, too!
I agree. It is absolutely stunning. Diamonds are wonderful, but gemstones have amazing energy. If everyone wore gemstones the world would be a better place.
One of my favorite
I think its design is the least elaborate though, big pieces with much details. its my least preferred in this collection.
It’s amazing how a crown from more than 500 years is still beautiful in our eyes 2022
gems and gold last, that is why and partly why we desire them, they are eternal.
gems and gold last, that is why and partly why we desire them, they are eternal.
I'm amazed that people are constantly expressing their surprise that we're just like other people. We're all just PEOPLE! WTF are they learning in school these days?
It’s a shame to leave them on display rather than have them worn, they are made to be worn in order to be able to fully appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship. Even if The Louvre placed the tiara on a rotating mannequin head with the right lighting it would do the tiara more justice.
yeah, I dont think that I have ever seen anyone from the royal family wearing Fife tiara, its a shame because its sooo gorgeous, I think that Kate would look stunning with it
The Queen said in an documentary, it’s basically rock and metal you have on your head, it’s a tremendous weight, she said you can’t move your head with them.
I agree. I will say though that wearing such an expensive and important piece is very overwhelming. Obviously, I never had the opportunity to wear a royal tiara. However, I once had the opportunity to try on a ring found in the Atocha Shipwreck sunk in 1622. My parents and I were visiting a Shipwreck museum and some of their other finds were available for purchase in a fine jewelry store located after the tour. Many pieces were reproductions, but some were authentic. My dad was interested in some of the pieces and I guess the employee knew he was a serious buyer and actually took this huge emerald set on a small gold ring and let my mother and I try it on Im petite and it only fit my pinky finger and felt absolutely overwhelmed trying on a 400 year old ring that was probably meant for a Queen. It was an experience I will never forget. I joked with them afterwards that unless I was with them, there was no way that oppertunity would have been offered to me.
@@bonniehowell4259 it’s always special to get an opportunity like that. A lot of antique jewellery looks really heavy. Just seeing them doesn’t really do them justice.
I agree, those tiaras don't look as spectacular as when they are worn.
Nowadays royals don’t even wear crowns unless it’s some special day
They're all beautiful, but it breaks my heart from where some of these precious stones came from and in what manner
Yes It's really sad... the jewels industry is ruthless and horrible

My top favourites are: the Lover's Knot tiara, the Lotus tiara and the Alexandra Kokoshnik tiara.
I thought white diamond tiaras were my favorite, but that Ligne tiara with the aquamarines in so stunning I would say it is the most beautiful.
Fife... What a masterpiece. A tiara should make you catch your breath. (Personally, I'd prefer it to be platinum or white gold entirely) 👸🏻💎
The collection is simply wonderful and charming.
The computer generated voice over is thoroughly dreadful, but it is an interesting video.

The Fife's and Queen Victoria's tiaras are the best, ooooh, they soo beautiful! I fall in love with Fife's tiara
I think the number one tiara will make the Princess of Wales look so stunning and beautiful , but whatever tiara given to her by the late Queen Elizabeth ll to wear during the Coronation will always make her look dazzlingly beautiful .
The Fife tiara is just simply beautiful!!!
The Ligne Aquamarine tiara is stunning. Emeralds stones are my favorite though. Thank you for sharing these beautiful creations.
The Kokoshnik is so elegant! I like the ones without large diamonds or stones far more than the ones that do have. They are beautiful, but subtle compared to for example the Brazilian Aquamarine.
if you like the more subtle tiaras, you might want to check out the scandinavian ones, such as the swedish cameo tiara, or the danish naasut. what they may lack in gems they more than make up for in design!
It was styled so well with all of the chokers originally 🤩👌🏽
The 'Fife Tiara', is my favorite! It's The Most exquisite pieces of jewelry ever designed and constructed, I've ever seen! Oh... the commentator has just quoted the view as I! 😄
I love all the emeralds, but I think the Oriental Circlet (only an honourable mention) is probably my favourite, it's so delicate.
The Fife tiara is stunning.
I didn’t know there was a Fife tiara until I watched this. As I live in Fife it’s got to be a very special one for me too. I think it’s absolutely breathtaking. One of my absolute favourites, I’m glad you love it too.
which sec?
Gorgeous and dazzling. Never tire of looking at them and would love to see more. At the end of this video the screen was mostly covered by some ads that covered the tiara being worn. It looked like it would be lovely. I'd like to see it completely. Women never tire of jewelry.
More to come! i am just glad you like it. thank you so much elle belle for always being there.
The "Queen Mary's Lover's Knot" is my favorite tiarra...All are stunning.

Jackie Kennedy with her small glass brooch in the center of her lovely hair and wearing a silken gown was a vision of loveliness greater than any...She was so gorgeous no amount of diamonds could outshine her.

Agreed. She was a beautiful and elegant woman……however, this video is about tiaras, not beautiful women.
Elegant maybe but she wasn't beautiful
@@jancarr1 Jackie had powerful style and she was intelligent, but I think it’s criminal the way ppl compare her and Marilyn Monroe when the two are both great women
Jackie had a very masculine face, she wasn’t beautiful at all.
Thank you for another lovely video. I find that one of my favorite styles of tiaras are Russian designed. I love the Kokoshnik design which I believe is based on a traditional Russian style of head ornament! They come in many different designs but their basic style is very pleasing to me. I particularly like the smaller Kokoshnik tiaras such as the one worn by Princess Eugenie at her wedding. It is wonderfully simple but so beautiful!! I'm just not crazy about the tall and spiky tiaras. Anyway, thanks again for the video!! Much love, ♥️🇺🇸♥️
hello don, thank you so much for dropping by, and also I was planning to make a video about the floral tiara motif, what do you think would it be nice?

The aquamarine tiara is my favorite. It's my birthstone and my favorite gemstone
Cara M. The modern one or the tiara Queen Elizabeth II owns? I love Aquamarine too and the colours of both tiaras were amazing!
@@krisushi1 I did forget to mention which one! I like them both but I prefer the new one. The only thing I'd change is the letter L shape scroll work around the top.
Cara M. Totally agree. Although I loved the modern style of this one, it did look like the letter 'L' around it! It's unusual to see Aquamarine on a tiara and Andrew picked two as his favourites. I love coloured gems, especially different to what everyone seems to wear. You'd love the pear shape stone I purchased last year that is a teal shade of Aquamarine but not dark. I plan to make it into a pendant with a diamond halo but not right up against the stone so there will be negative space to highlight the Aqumarine. I already have some stud square cushion cut earrings in white gold and a matching ring. All I need now is a matching necklace! It's hard to stop once you get started!
@@krisushi1 That sounds beautiful!! I was looking for a pair of aquamarine earrings for a long time but nothing caught my eye. My Mother went to Italy and brought back this stunning pair in a drop design and lever back in platinum. The aquamarine stones are 1.7 carats each and have 3 tiny diamonds at the top of the drop. They are everything I never knew I wanted and I wear them constantly. Now I'm looking for a necklace
Cara M. Those earrings sound very nice and a good size too. I actually happened to mention to my Jeweller that I didn't have any Aquamarine yet and he took me to a counter and showed me these beautiful studs. They didn't have any diamonds but bezel setting on two sides which made them look that little bit different than regular claw set studs. Of course I put on a deposit and paid them off as a Christmas present to myself that year. It was almost two years later that I saw the ring which was also set the same way, same colour stone and cut, white gold but it did have three channel set diamonds on each side. So you never know when that matching necklace will turn up!

The Fife tiara is my favorite. I wish it could be worn instead of sitting in a museum.
The Kokoshnik tiara is shown alongside a photo of Her Majesty on the day of her wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh, but that was not the Kokoshnik. It is the George III Fringe Tiara. The two look very similar. The fringe has smaller pikes between the larger one. And the pikes on the Kokoshnik are rounded whereas those on the Fringe Tiara are more pointed. Otherwise love the video.
Just to be able to wear one once...just once...sigh!
For real! Just for a split second! Just long enough for a photo! And I wouldn't care if the person never really let go of it! Just let me feel the weight and see it on my head! 😏😁

The Marie Therese emerald and diamond tiara can't have survived the French Rvolution (in 1789) if it was made in 1819.

There was more than one French Revolution. The revolution the video is referring to is most likely the February Revolution of 1848, which happened about 18 years after the July Revolution (1789), but it's often forgotten because of Napoleon.

How am I to pick a favourite from these incredible works of art? So I won't. I do get upset each time I see the one with the Emeralds atop and cringe that the actually drilled through them! Ouch!! There were some at the start that also deserved at least a viewing. The unusual modern look to the Queen Elizabeth II Aquamarine was stunning but have never seen her wear it. The Marie Therese Emerald and Diamond Tiara was at the top too. I do feel sorry for The Duchess of Cambridge always being compared to Diana. I wish the public would let her be her own woman. Anyone who knows me knows that my taste is more for coloured gems but in this list even the White Diamonds made an big impact. The reason Queen Elizabeth II has the largest collection would be due to her age and popularity. She has had more time to put together and be gifted more jewels. Thanks again Andrew. Would love to view some of the others from the start not in top 10? Kris from Australia.
Absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing

I'm disappointed that none of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna's Tiara's weren't included in this (the wife of the last Emporer Czar Nicholas II)...but there certainly were some beauties in your top 10 😍
The return of the Lover's Knot Tiara by Diana was not part of her divorce settlement. It was never hers. All the major jewels of British royalty belong to the Queen. The monarch is the only person not liable to UK inheritance tax, so it was for this and other reasons, such as potential divorce, that the Queen retains ownership. She loans them out. She loaned Diana various jewels for life, but Diana voluntarily returned the biggest jewels as she would no longer be attending state functions. When she died, her estate was taxed at 40%, including the value of her own jewellery such as her engagement ring, now worn by Kate.
Belongs to India .. stolen by British !

Great video ... one suggestion .... in the section about the Marie Therese emerald and diamond tiara, you correctly state that it was created in the early 1800s, during the restoration of Louis XVIII and Charles X .... but then you say it "survived the French Revolution", which was in 1789. You might choose to change that.
The French have had a few. In this case they mean the 1848 revolution that brought the 2nd Republic.
What an absolutely fabulous presentation. Bravo !
They are so beautiful. What a blessing to be able to wear one

Oh my goodness, you know I’ve seen many tiara and diadem videos, and yet you still found a couple pieces that I have not seen before. Once again, your knowledge of gemstone jewelry shines through! I had been patiently waiting for this video and you never cease to enthrall me with sparkle and shine! Fabulous but this video you should have narrated with your own voice. Such pageantry deserves your charismatic voice. Thank you, Andrew!😘🤗😮
Constance Krischan Weren't they amazing!!! I also viewed some that I had never seen previously which is rare. There were even some other beauties at the start that didn't make the list that I had never seen also. I have to say that I'm not familiar with the pageantry ones but never knew they were made from fine gems. There were a few at the start that were spectacular, especially the Aquamarine Tiara but not the one in the top 10. My head is still spinning from the beauty of these so cannot name others I spied yet. I'd be happy with any of them and leave it at that! Kris.
krisushi1 have you had the opportunity to view more of Andrew’s videos? He is amazing! He does a really great job in his presentation and his knowledge of gems and jewelry is vast.
Constance Krischan To be honest I can't even remember how long I've been subscribed for but it's well over a year. I was really impressed over the footage as well as details about the jewellery pieces. I always say that I was deprived as a child and since as my parents never gave me jewellery except for my first watch. They have always known my love for jewellery but due to my mother not that interested, although that shouldn't matter, I never got any, not even sterling silver! So, since settling into my current location about five years ago I discovered the greatest Jewellery Store (Wangaratta Jewellers, VIC, Australia) and first went in for a watch band. That was enough to get me hooked as they have the most amazing and unusual pieces that you'll never see anyone else wearing or find these rarer gems also. I even have a two-tone Rose and White Gold Italian made Necklace that is the only one in this Continent! So ever since discovering them I am rarely without at least one item on lay-by (I think you call it lay-away?) at a time constantly. I've definitely accumulated a great collection and still going. I'll be picking up a two-tone Yellow and White Gold Ring with five bezel set Diamonds on it very soon. Due to my love of unusual and coloured gems, I've done quite alot of research which is how I found Andrews Channel and Subscribed straight away! I'm yet to go through every video on other topics but I'll get there!
Thank so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗

The Fife Tiara is my favorite all-diamond tiara. It's exquisite. I wish it could be worn today though. Some of the most beautiful tiaras are only in museums, like Queen Victoria's Coronet & her Emerald Tiara ... I wish we could see them worn today.
True! Because they were made to worn and not for display
@@AndrewPidor - Exactly! I understand they're very old, but my goodness, the designs are just timeless & the pieces look brand new from the way they've been kept in-between wears, so if they only loaned them out for certain royals for certain occasions, I don't see the harm in letting them be worn again. They're just too exquisite with jewels, gold, etc.. but most of all, they have exquisite history. 🖤👑

@@tiffanystidham5329 I completely agree. Historical pieces like those hold not just intrinsic value but also cultural significance. They're not merely fashion items; they're artifacts of our heritage, carrying stories of the past. Allowing them to be worn again doesn't diminish their value; rather, it revitalizes their legacy, bringing their beauty and history to life once more. As long as they're properly cared for and respected, sharing them for special occasions can enrich our present while honoring our past.
