In life and sports, we are all judged on who we are in the biggest moments and for NFL players, now is that moment with only a few teams left in the final push to see who plays in the Super Bowl. After a wild first round, we head into the divisional playoffs and Ryan, Channing and Fred are making their picks, talking about the team's still left standing and of course Channing felt vindicated after all year of not believing in Dallas and seeing them upset by the Green Bay Packers.
Before getting into the weekend ahead, the guys reflect on our last conversation with Dez Bryant and being grateful for him opening up, sharing his perspective based on his experiences and how he uses them to create a better life for his children and future generations. The impact from his words touched so many and helped lead the guys into a conversation on discipline and parenting, as they talk about how important it is to set an example for the future generations. Whether it is on TV or in a line at Starbucks, signs of respect go a long way.
With the Dallas Cowboys’ loss during the Wild Card round of the playoffs, the guys speak on Dak’s season and agree that he has simply not performed in the bigger moments. Channing explains it the best way he can, which has the guys laughing in tears as he puts Dallas' post season success in "Channing" terms. Many thought this season was the one for the Cowboys to take the next step, but they are entering the offseason with more confusion than answers. Ryan emphasizes how players like Tom Brady were able to focus on the field when the spotlight was brightest and says that Dak was seeing the world instead.
The conversation shifts to the NFL’s greatest quarterback where they debate the importance Brady and Bill Belichik each had on the Patriots. Ryan opens up what it was like for him to step on the field and understands that as players and humans, we are judged by what we do in the biggest moments as Fred reflects on how much he misses the game and Channing takes Ryan's story and applies it to life off the field, where pressure exists and those who shine are the ones we consider great.
Similar to that competitive foundation, many analysts, like Stephen A. Smith, have been in the news for recent beefs. Channing touches on how social media has created this version of society while Fred says it has exposed it, and Ryan says it's become a world where everyone has a voice and the access to people who use to be in a different category is now easier than ever so it allows for people to feel they can speak more freely and confront situations that in past times would let slide. The guys recognize how it's become easy to judge other people in today's world and discuss some of the current media controversy between outlets, athletes and other personalities.
New episodes drop on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. ET and Fridays at 3:30 p.m ET on KZhead, with audio available on all streaming platforms including Apple, Spotify and Amazon.

  • That close out is what makes this podcast so special. Because we love the games so much or because we want to be in the games and lack the physical gifts and/or talent...We as fans forget that athletes are also humans. This podcast has been a reminder for us that you're all more than the sum of the sport that you choose to make a living from playing. Amazing job.

  • From my observation as an Eagle Fan, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick was the perfect fit like Fred Said Bill organized the Hits and Tom Carried out the Kills! Simple as that.. Tom was Bills John Wick 😂😂

    • Could say they were the perfect fit but since Brady won his first year with us. Proves Brady doesn’t need Bill but Bill damn sure needs Brady.

    • I have never liked the Patriots but I do like Brady. I truly believe that Belichick was set up for failure when he was forced to trade Jimmy Garoppolo. Garoppolo was 14-3 as a starter when Brady was hurt which proves that Belichick had his next QB already that knew his system perfectly. Of all the positions, QB is the hardest to replace especially when the one you had was one of the greatest. The Patriots had a great QB situation similar to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers but Kraft forced the trade of Garoppolo and they have been suffering the consequences ever since. I’m surprised more people don’t mention that. Most people just say all the success was Brady and Belichick did nothing. Except Belichick had the Patriots defense in the top 10 for 16 of the 20 seasons Brady was there. Belichick and Brady were a perfect combination.
