VICE went to Colombia to check out a strange and powerful drug called Scopolamine, also known as "The Devil's Breath." It's a substance so intense that it renders a person incapable of exercising free will. The first few days in the country were a harrowing montage of freaked-out dealers and unimaginable horror stories about Scopolamine. After meeting only a few people with firsthand experience, the story took a far darker turn than we ever could have imagined.

You my dear friend are why nobody watched Vice anymore. I just seen the tag line and watched 2:15 minutes before I said this POS is such a valley girl that you would never be able to give a true definition of the horrifying results of this experiment.

In 2018, I had to go to São Paulo for an internship interview, when i got there i went to the metro to get to my destination. At one point an sketchy guy approaches me and start talking about how he is going to propose to his wife and asked me to see the ring he bought her. When he opened the ring case (in front of my face) i immediately started feeling like i was going to pass out and nauseous, it was in less than a second that i remembered this video, stood up, closed my nostrils, covered my mouth and ran away from the guy, i was not chased back, but it was scarry as hell!

    • As a person who was born and lived in a country near Colombia, I can very much tell you that this is true. People are so used to it that it’s actually weird when something like this doesn’t happen everyday. It is not that people are more brave than people in first world countries, we are, we are very scared, we’re scared to step out of our homes to go around the corner, and even at night you are very scared someone will break in. This is something those people have to accept everyday of their lives, that it could be their last day, that when they go out they might not come back. You never stop fearing it, you just learn to live with it. You eventually forget that it’s not normal to live in a place like that. You pick up habits that help you stay safe that people in first world countries laugh at, but if they only knew. You become so paranoid that even when you live in a first world country you do not feel safe. I have friends here in Canada that leave their doors unlocked, go out at night by themselves, take jogs in dark places, walk around with jewellery and electronics, are never looking around, feel safe getting high or drunk around strangers, are willing to meet random people or go to their places, they don’t check around their homes at night, don’t wake up at the slightest sound, keep a weapon near their bed, have a dog, and aren’t afraid to get into fights with random people, without thinking who that person might be and what weapon they might be carrying. Without doing any of this, I feel very uncomfortable. I am very careful to get into fights with random people the first thing I think about is “what if they take out a knife or a gun and kill me?”

After an emergency psychiatric visit, I slept for 16 hours and woke up a completely different person. • When I was younger I was fascinated by the Carlos Castaneda books where he described training under a Yaqui shaman in Mexico. One of their rituals involved using Datura -- they would chew the roots and swallow the juice. Datura (jimson weed) grows wild where I was at the time and is really easy to recognize, so I gave it a go. No idea how the trip differed from using the seeds or flowers, but it was a pretty wild ride. I remember feeling absolutely normal at first, even driving a 4-wheel vehicle out of the desert where I ingested. We stopped when we got to a ranger station, I got out of the jeep, the world turned sideways, and I hit the deck. From then on my memories were sketchy. My friend drove after that, I remember opening the door and feeling like I could step out. At highway speed. My buddy was an EMT and once we got home he decided to take me to the hospital. The primary drug is a stimulant, and my heart rate was over 150. I remember some vivid hallucinations, the floor tile floating, being fascinated by a coat zipper, then total disorientation at finding myself strapped into a bed as the drugs they treated me with started kicking in. It wasn't like being hypnotized, I don't think, more like being in a separate world, with total clarity, and no control. Never again.

    • That's why witches/herbalists/cunning folk in Medieval Europe and Early Modern times mixed Wolfsbane in many of the magical potions and ointments that contain belladonna, henbane, mandrake and scopolia to counteract/balance-out the ventricular tachycardia (fast heart rate) and hyperthermia (overheating). They also eventually used opium by Early Modern times to, again counteract the fast heart rate but also the dysphoria. Pharmacological cardioversion was essentially invented by witches in the Late Middle Ages, hence the polyherbal concoctions, brews and ointments mentioned in these grimoires and old herbals which characterized witchery. It was really all just about the Nightshades with the other additional herbs just their to "balance-out" the problematic side effects.

    • Artificial enlightenment like the one Casataneda pushes are a dangerous waste of time.

      @VictorVentriloquista@VictorVentriloquista4 ай бұрын
    • @@VictorVentriloquista Nightshades aren't for enlightenment. They're all about 'power', not healing or knowledge like say ayahuasca or psilocybin. That said, things like psilocybin could be seen as a kind of cheat code for such things or shortcut more or less and I'm not sure if you're categorizing that with the "artificial enlightenment" here but in the case of psilocybin it absolutely is not dangerous nor a waste of time. I've gone down pretty much all the epistemological rabbit-holes and I can confidently declare that psilocybin is it.

      @Ryan88881@Ryan888814 ай бұрын
    • It’s not artificial enlightenment. It’s shamanic tools used by indigenous leaders of the spiritual path for tens of thousands of years that open gateways to spirit and consciousness and cleanse the doors of perception. These cleansed doors of perception cause new neural pathways to open up in the superhighway that connects the mind, soul, and body and jettison the user towards actual enlightenment as you come to learn the power of your own mind and transcend the lessons the universe teaches you.

  • I’ve taken Datura 4 times when I was 16 years old. I still had free will, but I did it alone. The hallucinations were not like a psychedelic. Pure confusion and delirium. Bugs crawling over everything, full conversations with people who would vanish. At one point I found myself in my living room, Saturday morning, sun shining through the window, folding laundry with my mother. This lasted about an hour. I came to on my bedroom floor and I was just smashing a shirt on the floor together over and over. I took the datura at 11PM. The full reality hallucination without knowing it was intense. It messes up your language center. I was caught and taken to a hospital the first time. My family thought I was on LSD. They kept asking “Where did you get the acid?” And I meant to say “I didn’t do acid” but instead “the pigeons in the basement” came out of my mouth. I was fucked up for 24 hours. Idk why I repeated the experiment but I did. Not enjoyable. This was crushed datura seeds. I never did pure Scopolamine. If you get the chance to try datura, I wouldn’t.

Only recently I've realized how much of a zombie and how out of wack my emotions have become. My memory has never been worse. And the withdrawal is the worst part. If you know someone who in thr future would use the patches for more than a few days, do not let them keep using them. Any relief is not worth the withdrawal. My husband told me things I did, that I would never do, if I hadn't been given this drug for random nausea. We couldn't figure out what caused this until my husband noticed behind each ear, a tiny brown round patch. Yea, I'm pointing my finger at you Baptist hospital!!

You get your target high on the substance, take compromising photos of them doing things that they normally wouldn't do and then extort money out of them with the threat of releasing the photos. Would just tell them that they drank too much and did those things while intoxicated without them ever knowing that this kind of drug even exists. Truly terrifying and really makes ya think if that's how they got dirt on people..

Prostitution isn't wrong if done in a safe environment with two willing participants and condoms enforced. I'm a woman myself and knew someone in prostitution and she said she has great exciting sex with her clients and profits. Women's rights is about having the choice to do what you want. Some women even find it liberating to work for themselves, decide when and if they want to work and with whom. Sex isn't a sacred act for most people. It's the same principal as a massage, paying someone for their time and pleasure.

Both make spikey pods filled with small black seeds similar in size to pepper seeds. As a drug it is super potent. A little of the flower will cause a dream like trip that lasts for hours. The seeds are far stronger and the experience is harsh. You can trip for over 24 hours, actually hallucinate.The body effects include getting too hot, extreme thirst, and light sensitivity.
