We love the Marvel Cinematic Universe because creators find little ways to connect this universe. In this case, the vision the Ancient One shows Doctor Strange is repeated in the show LOKI. We break down each of these visions frame by frame, explain their connections to the infinity stones, Ant_man, the Avengers, and the future of the MCU.

  • Another cool easter egg is that both the Ancient One and Sylvie uttered the same words of "Open your eyes", but whereas Strange's vision began with those words, Loki's vision ended. Perhaps implying that Strange's true destiny will just begin once he'll open his eyes, while Loki's cycle of despair and loss will finally end when he'll open his eyes.

  • A thought that just crossed my mind was a line Classic Loki said; "The blades are worthless in the face of a Loki sorcery". Which in a way reminds of how Strange had to learn to see beyond his hands. It kinda mirrors how Loki saw the vision when using magic instead of a blade. Adds even more to the parallels between the two and the scenes themselves as the lessons aren't all that far appart.

  • There’s so much that people overlook, it’s astonishing. The more people find a reason to complain about Marvel content, the more time shows that they’ve been playing chess while simultaneously making the movies/shows entertaining and avoiding being full of themselves. Dare I say, they’ve been Kanging us. 😆

    • I never understood people saying Marvel movies are shallow. Sure, they're blockbuster movies, but they're not dumbed down to the lowest common denominator like the Transformers or Fast and Furious franchises. There's plenty of valid criticisms that can be made (movies feel similar), but shallow ain't one of them.

  • The connection to the beginning of episode 6 to Loki having a vision in episode 5 is amazing! I never even connected that. And it seems Sylvie didn’t have that connection because she opened her eyes first. Rewatching it makes sense, because Loki seemed startled. I thought it was seeing the citadel but now I think it was his coming back to that reality. Curious if we’ll see him powered up moving forward.

  • I very much appreciate this theory and explanation. I was having a pretty bad existential crisis until it was explained in this kind of way. Realizing our own existence is insignificant doesnt mean we have to give up and feel cynical like mr. strange. Just because we cant explain or fathom something doesnt mean it doesnt exist, and our biggest problem is our ego, or the fear that we arent important. That hyperfixation on our own importance or non importance keeps us from seeing what's beyond if thats even possible.

Captain America couldn't fight Wonder Woman. They would have to bend over backwards and twist the script into knots just so the Avengers had some kind of chance. And expect more Deus Ex Stupida like, "Why did you say the name Martha?"

ALSO both Sylvie and The Ancient One spoke the same words of "open your eyes" when Loki and Strange where viewing the multiverse, but whereas Strange's vision began with those words, Loki's vision ended. ALSO I noticed both The Ancient One and Sylvie say the lines "This isn't about you" to Strange and Loki. So yes these parallels really astounded me, awesome video, I'M SO EXCITED FOR PHASE 4 OF THE MCU

  • I think thor has been hinted at having done something close to this a number of times besides his trip to junkland. when his father appears to him during his fight with hela i seem to recall a similar effect being used. and odin is there after having turned into what looks like energy. and etris suggestion that stormbreaker could summon the bifrost as odins spear has may be another oblique reference to the power thor has to hand. im thinking he might be the next big player tossed into multiverse shenanigans. and it bears mentioning that in norse mythology odin canonically kills himself by hanging from the world tree, upon which the levels of the world rest. they are, of course, held in seperate branches. odin is taken through each of these levels and is shown all knowledge of all time in all places. the price he paid for this knowledge was his eye. blinding himself to see more. thor has now also lost his eye and though his is not the canonical norse king of the gods after ragnarok it seems that the people at marvel are setting him up to take odins place in the universe at large, though not his place upon a throne. i dont think its a coincidence it was loki that took this journey. the heirs of odin fighting at the end of time to forestall a monster from eating the world is what ragnarok actually is so i wouldnt be surprised if thats whats coming down the pipe.

  • I'm going through the first rewatch of all the movies (I've seen most of them once or twice when they came out) and, through to Infinity War at least, Doctor Strange is the strongest of the movies, though most of them are much better than I remember (Thor 1 and 2, I'm looking at you...BP, well...once was enough). I think they are better now because, with the benefit of hindsight, I can see the story beats they were setting up for. There is DEFINITELY multiverse set-ups going on, even in the early films.

  • When doctor strange shows Tony that this is the one reality where they win in the end game it looks like he is going to snap his fingers

  • Such an awesome deep dive! Thank you! I feel like there is going to be a lot of confusion about the multiverse of other dimensions that we see in Dr. Strange that were already running alongside the sacred timeline and the now branching multiverse (with each branch containing its own aforementioned multiverse) unleashed in Loki. Basically, we need different words for the 2 kinds of multiverses.

    • No. the Loki series takes place BEFORE the first Doctor Strange movie. The Sacred Timeline is, in essence, already broken into branches by the time Doctor Strange meets the Ancient One.

  • Just found this video after a rewatch of Dr. Strange. Dr. Strange is probably one of the MCU movies I have watched the least. After watching Loki, and Endgame, I was like uh, seems like Ancient One knows what’s up. I have found a new level of entertainment and enjoyment in the MCU. They really do capture the human experience in the most fantastical way. Your videos really do that feeling justice. Well done 👏
