Justice League Apokolips was truly dark, that's all I can say.
Hell, it even lives up to the name.
Ikr?? That's why its the best DC animation movie for me.
Even when the heroes finally won, they still lost because Earth was completely FUBAR.
sscared the hell our of me
@GrandmasterDevo yeah, it's crazy that the entire DCEAU continuity was leading up to a tragedy.
After everything the Justice League had gone through in the animated universe, I was shocked to see them be slaughtered by Darkseid’s forces. It just goes to show how powerful he and his Paradooms really were.
That movie was amazing
@@taytmw18 yes it was
When you consider the parademons were genetically modified with Doomsday DNA and Darksied was prepared to ambush the JL as soon as they arrived, it’s not too hard to believe.
Which made his beat down curtesy of trigon awesome
@@jakealter5504 sometimes you gotta fight evil with evil
Apokolips War was brutal. I still remember the movie after 2 years.
I watched this with my dad at ten it was brutal but so amazing
There were so many heavy moments that could have come just from Apokolips War. The deaths, the losses, and Flash’s ultimate decision at the end. The one bright spot that made me smile in the whole movie was Trigon vs Darkseid. That’s saying something.
U notice Batman’s dad instantly was ready to change his time to know his son lived
What loving father wouldn't, given the chance? I know I would do the same -- eagerly so.
Dad goals
Thomas was a great father. His note also was the icing on the cake. When handed the letter that said 'Bruce' on it, Batman took off his mask so he could read it as Bruce as well. "You're one hell of a messenger, Barry."
I still think Johnny Quick died a hero, even if his enthusiasm to open the portal was based on a lie. Didn't think twice about it, saved all of existence, and had no regrets in the end. You don't get much more heroic than that.
Damn right
And he wasn't even mad about that lie.
@@pressplayulysses like he told Batman, “good one mate”
The fact that Batman got an alternate Speedster killed, to protect another Speedster on his team safe says a lot.
@@omarcogle1965 it’s definitely a nice callback to the beginning of the movie when Batman used the teleporter on Flash
I would say the most shocking part of JLA Apocalypse was that it really was the end of that whole iteration of the DCAU. All the movies in that whole series were leading up to a crushing defeat which had to be undone via reboot. Really changes the experience of watching any of the other films, knowing that it all just gets blown away with another Flashpoint.
But remember, chances are is that Barry might have PTSD from changing the timeline twice.
@@omarcogle1965for sure
@@MellowMochi0 Do you think he'll start putting the pieces together in the Tomorrowverse?
@@omarcogle1965 Also, Constantine ends trapped in a limbo as a consequence for inciting the meddling with reality.
@@omarcogle1965 It seems like his memory had been reset to match the new universe, since he realises that he is in a parallel dimension for Justice Society:WWII, but he doesn't mention Flashpoint
Injustice proved why Batman needed that contingency plan...
Or Batman could have ended Joker to save 1000's live....
Yeah, use an extreme, poorly-written scenario to back up your dubious claim
Apokolips War still the only dc movie where things went bad like really bad. Everyone got killed off, a bit too much, and the victory was hollow. This is why you don't let Superman lead the charge and let John Constantine in a team
In the end, the behavior of the survivors had me thinking of a Pyrrhic victory. Brutal and devastating to such an extent that you have lost the will to go on.
Zatanna used a spell on Constantine to make him run away like a coward, she knew they’d need him to win later. They would have lost if he wasn’t on the team.
Justice League Apokolips War could take the 20 spots by itself. Movie was insane and literally unpredictable!
Apokolips War was so obsessed with getting a body count, they introduced Wally West, and then offer him. Offscreen. Also, they offer Swamp-Thing. The thing that cannot die.
That’s Wallace not Wally
I enjoyed it immensely, but I thrive on the amusement I get during the movie. Others seem to care more about the final outcome. So many notable characters were killed in Apokolips War that the survivors seemingly regarded it as a Pyrrhic victory. The toll inflicted was so devastating that they essentially begged Flash to release them from their nightmare. And at this point, those who care more about the final outcome likely became frustrated. I understand why -- it's as if the movie turned into a bad dream, and the person who dreamt it woke up at the end, thus, making the movie a waste of time. But I still enjoyed it for what it was, which is a DCU Animated Film, and I happen to love them in general.
Aqua man and his lady didn't last 10 minutes
@@ro4eva This is because people didn't understand what was going to happen from the very beginning. That animated run followed the New 52 universe which was literally a bunch of stories inside of a Flashpoint universe. It was always going to end with Flash undoing it all.
Injustice - Watching Superman punch a hole straight through The Joker's chest is a moment that still sticks with me.
Worst moment was when Supeman killed child Brainiac who could not control his power.
@@SarsTheSecond It was a mercy killing
Man that movie was so underwhelming compared to the comics. Comicstorian's videos on the comic series was way better than that short movie
Zatanna getting devoured by the Paradooms still haunts me. Everything about that movie is traumatizing.
Well, King Shark was kind of cute? aahah
I miss the old darker DC animated movies The new ones just aren't doing it for me
Even the animation has gone crappy. I long for the days when we get another masterpiece like Flashpoint.
Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham was really dark (though, its animation was not as aesthetically pleasing as in the continuity that began and ended with a Flashpoint)
Red Hood turning out to be Robin is the one for me. After essentially being shocked at Robin's death at the start of the animation, him coming back as Red Hood to outmaneuver Batman is just Golden.
I think number 14 was more shocking that Nightwing can be killed by something simple
Ya I been wondering how that was even possible? Can someone explain?
He still human even a bullet can kill him
I think in the injustice comics, he got hit and his head landed on a rock where he snapped his neck
@@F4keFelipx that i can understand that one but he just got hit with robins staff
@@presidentjayhawk9214 I know that
RIP DC Animated Movie Universe 2013-2020
Since you seem to regard DCU Animation as finished, I wish to inform you that Justice League: War World was released last week. Perhaps you'll consider watching it, or not.
@@ro4evathat's not even the same universe. Dark Apokalips took place in the DCAMU TIMELINE.
@@MellowMochi0its called the Tomorrowverse which is the reboot ot DCAMU and its probably the new timeline cause by the flashpoint that we see in the end of Apokolips War.
@@Its_Random123 But the first tommorowverse movie was wonder woman in 2009. Before the first dcamu movie.
@@MellowMochi0 search it on google the first movie was Superman Man of tomorrow (2020).
Bruce and Babs hooking up in The Killing Joke is more disturbing than anything on this list
😂
I’m used to seeing it in the comics but when I first read it, I ain’t know what to think😂😂😂
It was extremely inappropriate
Our Family Memories with Batman vs. Joker from Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker should be number one by far. The uncut version has always stayed with me. Poor Tim Drake.
Whenever I see anything about Injustice I think, "The Joker won."
Quite the punch line.
Batman’s fault.
In JL: Doom, I think it's interesting to note that in the reactions of the Justice League after dealing with the contingency plans and Vandal Savage was Hal Jordan's, AKA Green Lantern. Unlike the other League members, he wasn't against the plans but was concerned that their security was so apparently easy to break through. A few friends and I talked about this when the movie first came out. We all quickly agreed that this was likely due to Jordan's past compared to the others. Someone going rogue was an uncomfortable theoretical situation for most of the League, especially extremely moral individuals like Superman. Jordan, however, had already been through that exact scenario once before. His mentor, Sinestro, went utterly rogue, enslaving his own sector in accordance with his own ideas on order.
@@citizensane4387I would argue that if a justice league member willingly went rogue and was aware of Batman’s contingencies then they would just adapt around it and counter it. You can’t defend against something you don’t see coming.
Justice League: Doom, not JL: War.
@@christopherlh4379 Thanks. Fixed it.
DCAU Ruled back then hopefully DC can get back on this track these were the Golden yrs in Animation movies
They need to do a Season 5 of Young Justice.
That thumbnail is totally gruesome.
Hush is easily top for me. It got me even more because I was expecting Thomas Elliot. And it didn't feel cheap or shoe-horned it felt really natural. Amazing adaptation!
Top 10 Dc Characters That Deserve More Attention.
The biggest surprise to me was in "Injustice" when flash was gonna die if the fact that he could not outrun the blast was not shocking enough the fact that no justice leaguer went to save him gave me creeps
for me shocking moment was the fact that like 95% of heroes were killed off in the apokolips war and I didn't get to see it properly see the fight scenes themselves
Seeing Starfire's intestines on the floor at the base of titan tower was metal as hell
Immediately knew that opening scene of Apokolips War would be ranked top. Brutal AF.
Unmasking redhood is the one that really got me shocked when I first watched it and I loved it
Under the Red Hood is still one of my favs. Can't tell you how many times I've watched it.
I can agree on many things from this list but Batman contingency plans sure ain't suprising to me.
DC animated movies are on whole another level, unmatched by anything Marvel or Disney could ever achieve. Only if DCEU would just emulate 50 per cent of DC animation
the reason why batman said flash was "too slow" was because batman didnt want flash to die he knew flash was fast enough
i likes my own comment
I recommend to anyone who enjoyed the Injustice animated movie you should read the comic series. I read it when it came out and it was amazing (and kinda heartbreaking too!)
Either that or play the video games. I still have no idea how an animated movie can fail in both worlds.
@@arturosandovalsaito2704 What do mean by fail? It was a different adaptation of the story, as the video game's plot can't work as a straightforward movie, and the comics were too much material to properly include.
I don’t understand what’s wrong with a hero killing a villain, less villains will use the idea of knowing the hero wont kill them no matter what they do and will just do even worse stuff. It also leaves less of a threat because now the villain wouldn’t just escape prison and do the same evil stuff they do.
"I don’t understand what’s wrong with a hero killing a villain"
Apokolips war shows that it's a really bad idea to attack darkseid on his own turf.
Darkseid is one of the scariest things ever. It literally takes a demon from hell to do him in. I mean, come on. That's Omega tier right there up with Parralax and Necron
@@firestuka8850 definitely.
The most laziest writing goes to Nightwing's Death.
DC animation was amazing
was it still is
TTG killing Batman’s parents should be here
Ttg?
Justice League Dark Apocalypse was crazy
Apocalypse was truly something
For number 20, i get how things went bad but also i think the team should have realized how easy it is for any of them to go bad. So its good for bats to have a plan to handle that
I'm thinking the Justice League Dark: Apokolips War sequences are the most frightening experiences in animated film's history. My god, I feel so bad for those characters getting slaughtered. Jeez.
Have you watched 'Constantine: City of Demons'? In my opinion, it's even darker. Thankfully there is a rather small amount of comedic relief about 1/3rd of the way through. Again though, it is quite dark for a DCU Animated Film -- easily rated R. That said, it's really good in my view. Highly recommended.
Don't mess with Dessad. He knows how to build stuff.
DC animated movies are so good, if only the live action followed it.
Agreed. I love DCU Animated, especially their DVD/Blu-ray releases.
There are so many. Batman accidentally endangers his friends,Superman kills Elite(or not), Thomas Wayne is Batman,Superman kills his wife,Joker's end. Tim Drake killing Joker is horror movie. I remember. Saw on youtube. Few years ago. Seeing Tim crying is heartwrenching. Gordon being Jack the Ripper is terrifying. Unmasking the Red Hood reminds of Arkham Knight. Really does. How Knightwing used Batman's tacticts against him,set traps(human can't survive or surpass that). Apokalips ambush is really terrifying. Real scary. Pretty good no 1
Batman telling his biological son to get out of the way so he can get to Dick makes me cry every single time.
I'd add Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. The reveal that Phantasm was not her father, but actually Andrea, Bruce's former lover.
We not gon talk about the flashes death in injustice
Batman who experiments on himself with bat DNA to remove an illness and accidentally turns himself into a vampire? Sounds kind of………..morbid. 😂
I agree with you on number 17, 16, 5, & 4. They were definitely shocking. And yet, Mark Hamill is still the best choice as Joker.
Gorden was a shocking twist! I can understand why he did what he did but still!
What about The Flash in Injustice? His death is so sudden
I swear you guys have made this same list 20 times now
They keep messing with batsy
"In light of the betrayal...we need to decide if Batman should continue to fund the league" "Oh shit...we might have to foot the bill instead?" Also: "Where's he go?" "Orbit....he went into orbit...at mach 7"
I don't know why so many people swear that Batman kills the Joker in DKR.
How to ambush Apokalips correctly: 1. Let Batman do the planning 2. Make sure no camera is present 3. Give Cyborg an anti hacking software
The way in the movie that they got tear up like paper is really unsettling
One of the biggest shocks to me in the DCAU was Constantine: city of demons at the end the spell he casted had some very major side effects.
1. The Death of Superman 2. Reign of The Supermen 3. Superman Batman Apocalypse 4. Batman The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 5. Injustice 6. Justice League Dark Apocalypse War 7. Superman Red Son 8. Superman vs The Elite 9. Batman Beyond Return of The Joker 10. Batman Hush 11. Batman The Killing Joke 12. Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox
Every moment in the flashpoint paradox was pretty shocking
This list should be the top 20 times batman was the plot twist
Nr 11 was the most shocking moment in my opinion. I thought rather Batman killed the Joker and then he still heard the voice from the corpse as a hallucination, because his mind at first refused to believe what he had just done.
He did killed The Joker what happen was in his mind
The line from, “Injustice” that got me was when the Joker tells Batman that he was tired of loosing so he decided to go after Superman as that was the Easy Mode. Brutal take down.
The most shocking thing for me in these animated movies, was watching John Constantine fuck the literal embodiment of an American state.
An Excellent Strategy for Superman in Superman vs The Elite.
Wonder Woman hangs Steve Trevor with her lasso in Flashpoint…Until I see that in live action then I haven’t lived my best life.
I always think about return of the jokers flashback chronicling the joker torturing a robin into being his adopted son it is still so terrifying and the young robin breaking into crying after shooting the joker is so depressing it’s cruel by design and I love it but thinking about the reason joker gives for his worst crimes and what he is doing never adds up to his actions and always keeps me thinking
21:38 I like how for that brief second, when the lightning flashes you could see Jason’s bruise face that he endured from Joker
How many times have you done this list?
The Matt Reeves Batman was an great adoption of the hush story arc
18:54 Batman Beyond 2: Gotham Forever, an animated sequel to honor Kevin Conroy age 66
I remember Tim Drake Robin, pushing Joker into electrical wires
Apokolips War is sublime!
Hush, really? The amount of people that hated it far outweighs those who liked it.
Wonder Woman killing Billy (Shazam’s true form) in Flashpoint Paradox was definitely the most shocking for me. I’ve told you all this before- that scene was enough to make me vow never to watch that movie again.
She got a couple of nasty kills in that movie too, including hanging Steve Trevor/Oliver Queen? I forgot who she lasso'ed. It's been a while
The most COOLEST thing about these DC Animated movies, is the incredibly awesome DARK moments that they ALWAYS produce!
So we aren't going to talk about Batman The Killing Joke where Batgirl was hooking up with Batman? Or Tara Markov painting her face like a drag queen trying to seduce Slade in Teen Titans Judas Contract?
ialways liked how the jokers final scene reminded me of jackies scene with dwight in sin city when they are in the car they both even have fatal injuries as well as facial lacerations to the point where they are hunched over with their neck hanging down and both even mock the protagonists in the same siing song melody " YOOOOOOUUUUUR IN TROUUUUUBLEEEE NOWWWWWWWWW ! "
This list is made up mostly of batman stuff. This proves he's the goat. ❤
Flash point was brutal seeing everyone fight and what happened to reverse flash crazy
Even after the last time I watched Batman: Under The Red Hood, I still think about Red Hood being revealed as Jason Todd.
BBROTJ: Mark Hamil's darkest lines as the Clown Prince of Crime Right up there with TKJ
They should have added the scene where Brainiac turned into the infant cube because of the noise overload......
The Jack the Ripper one was like how the original story went it was the cop that how he got away with it
So what is the thumbnail from?
I was left speechless after this list but what was the thumbnail. Starfire got absolutely destroyed.

Actually im pretty sure people did discover who jack the ripper is at this point. They found DNA on a scarf and matched it to a living relative. Apparently jack the ripper was a polish barber, who was also one of the main suspects back in the day when police did investigations
