Throughout the Fallout series many humans, ghouls, super mutants and even dogs, have had certain elements of their bodies replaced with cybernetic modifications. The definition of a Cyborg is a biological organism whose abilities have been extended beyond normal limitations, either through electronic, mechanical or robotic means. Synths on the other hand, which are synthetic in nature, are the polar opposite. They are synthetic organisms and while they do have human or animal flesh they are not considered cyborgs by definition, as such they will not be discussed, but they will receive their own dedicated video. Now, the use of implants and prosthetics was fairly normal before The Great War, with artificial organs being used in hospitals during lifesaving surgeries, but also more broadly in military and police settings. Specifically, implants that improved the defences and combat proficiency of Cyberdogs and Robobrains. However, the process of turning a biological organism into a cyborg isn’t as simple as I’ve made it sound, and many times the procedures were detrimental to the subjects health and wellbeing. As a result Doctors would only suggest cybernetic surgeries if it was a medical emergency. Whereas the US military took things to the extreme.

I know a lot of people don't like it when I mention Fallout Tactics, or non canon games in general, but where I do I've kept it brief! Enjoy!
Don’t listen to them anything you post is amazing keep up the good work
Eh, the ‘canon’ is now in bethesda hands, gives food for thoughts on the quality of fallout tactics (which was cool ngl)
I have less of an issue with you talking about non canon games than I do with developers making a game then being like "those are now non canon".
Misread the title as Cybernetic Orgasms
@@Nathan_Coleyor completely changing canon cyz they dont like the original stuff they say are canon.
My best guess for what happened to Star Paladin Cross is she either died trying to protect Owen or Sarah at some point or grew disgusted with what the BoS became after their deaths and left the group, likely causing them to erase all records of her and her accomplishments.
Yeah that is where I was going with my thoughts too in cannon .... Real world the Dev's of 4 just forgot about her.
I think she might have been killed by the bos for possibly being considered an abomination for having those implants. If they hate ghouls and synths then it wouldn't be to much of a stretch to say cyborgs are no better then a synth
The first thing i thought of is that she left or became an "outcast". We know from lore that anyone who abandons the brotherhood gets wiped out like they never existed, she didn't seem like she'd be willing to follow that racist man child ngl.
@@jessehunnicutt147nope because their holy God Maxon has cybernetics
Nah, her implants were ripped out to give to the Messiah, I mean Maxson…
I could see four options for Cross: 1. She died protecting Sarah Lyons. Sarah was no slacker herself in combat, so the battle against Shepherd's army must've been pretty brutal, so Cross easily could have died in the same conflict. 2. She became disillusioned with Maxson's more extreme outlook, especially since she herself is arguably pretty close to a Synth. She chose to leave the faction once Lyon's influence was gone. 3. Maxson may have had her killed, believing her to be an abomination. Depends how extreme you view Maxson. 4. It's canon she died while following the Lone Wanderer. Most likely during the battle for the Purifier, or the Enclave ambush in Vault 87, if this route is chosen.
If Maxson had her killed, he'd be little more than a hypocrite, considering he himself is extensively cybernetically modified
Absolute noncharacter. Grading and arrogant archetype with a shaving of personality bolted on. Just bad writing, all around. Painfully generic. Never willingly interacted with her after the first time. .. Even Cherry had more to offer, personality wise. "B-BUT SHE'S A MTF SEMISYNTH WITH A BACKSTOR-" gross. I don't care. Bad character is bad.
She could've died at Adam's airbase or even during the assault on the array
My thinking was also that Maxson had her killed. That makes the most sense. The reason she's not in any of the records or notes is that Maxson was so anti-synth/cyborg, that he had her stricken from all records to avoid "embarrassment" of once having a cyborg as one of the top people in the Brotherhood.

Same here but still waiting for both elder Scrolls and fallout 5 , wereclivingvin times where acnuckear fallout can actually come true
Did the capital wasteland chapter send their entire force in fallout 4? If not, Cross could be holding down the fort in DC. Her being second in command would make her a good choice. Feel like it would be foolish of them to leave the Pentagon without some force defending it.
I agree, plus I always thought it seemed odd that they appear to have pretty much the entire BoS (which doesn't seem like a very large force based on the amount of people you see on the blimp) just chilling in a blimp waiting to get shot down by some Super Mutant with an rpg. Not to mention there's like what 20ish people on the whole ship? It must just be higher ups and logistical crew I know but still.
From what I found, Maxson left a skeletal crew in DC to keep control over it, while taking the Majority of the Brotherhood to Commonwealth.
22:41 My theory on Star Paladin Cross missing from FO4: Elder Maxson instructed to remove all records of Cross from BoS databases. Two motives for this. The first one is that Maxson is far more fanatical and does not agree with Elder Lyon's method of helping the wasteland first. While it could be hard for him to outright remove the legacy of previous Elders, it is far easier to not talk about the accomplishment of those serving the previous Elders. The second one is that depends on how much surgery was performed on Cross to turn her into a cyborg, Maxson might view her as an abomination similar to synth, and given how he deals with Dance it is not unlikely to entirely remove Cross from history records. As of what happened to Cross, there can be a lot of ways for her to not appear: cyborg component failure, heroic sacrifice during battle, etc.
Maxson is the real abomination, and it's ridiculous how you never get the option to oust him from his position. Typical Bethesda writing.
@@Elyseon Just a reminder of the stuff that you might have forgotten: You cannot oust the elder of BoS in Fallout 1 or Fallout 2. You cannot oust the president of NCR, Caeser of Legion, Mr House of House either in FNV. There are plenty of leaders of factions that you don't get to oust in non-Bethesda games.
@@justanotheraccounthere2014 Yes, but Bethesda has this habit of hyping up your player character as this creature with godlike potential who is destined to change the face of the world and then reducing the player to a glorified errand boy.
@@Elyseon It was supposed to have the option (helping Danse to challenge Maxson for the Elder position) but was removed from the final version (A mod integrates again for a more good BoS approach)
You can oust the NCR President or Caesar through assasination only.
Star Paladin cross Theory: in my head cannon, star Paladin cross is still in the capital Wasteland during the events of Fallout 4. She's leading the Lyons loyalists under the Lion's Pride Banner as the new outcasts, trying to maintain the frontier Justice that Elder lyons had originally wanted. Basically she and any other Brotherhood members still loyal to Elder Lyons' way of governing would have taken the place of the Brotherhood outcasts from Fallout 3.

I know there's very little in the post war world that can actually make cybernetics and create cyborgs and people with cyber parts, but I do still wish there were more instances of them in the games. Not like Synths or robots, more folks like Kellogg, real people with a few cyber parts
In Ingram's regard; I think it is like the prosthetics that connect to the nervous system to enable movement on a more natural level; thinking=movement. we have seen more strange things than something based in real reality lol I LOVE the Master and his voices; he is truely scary and creative; uncanny valley. very 'I have no mouth and must scream'

In regards to Cross my only answer is "Bethesda forgot." To be honest they don't write the best stories, which is something I'm understanding more as I get older. It feels like they half ass it a lot.
In regards to Star Paladin Cross, I've speculated that if she survived the deaths of both Lyons she remained loyal to the Brotherhood. But as Maxon took over and rolled back the Brotherhood's efforts in the Capital Wasteland (specifically the part where they are helping the people) Cross started retreating more and more from her post in the order. Opting to spend longer and longer alone in the wasteland itself, trying to protect the people. Cross always came across to me as an avid supporter of protecting the people, evident to her choosing to pursue and assist in project purity, and only working with a good Karma Lone Wanderer. I believe as the brotherhood cared less and less for the wasteland, and the likely hard stance Maxon takes on "Abominations," (something she may now fall under as a cyborg,) she now either spends her time exclusively in the wasteland, still technically securing advanced tech in the name of the brotherhood, or ended up willingly going AWOL from her post. Now being a potential target of the Brotherhood, similarly to Danse when his situation is resolved peacefully with Maxon. My personal head canon being she left the group, and helped settle the refugees of Rivet City after the Brotherhood took their reactor for the Prydwen.
If cyborgs are considered an "abomination" by Maxson's BOS, then Maxson deserves an execution order leveled at himself, cause he too, is an "abomination"
Nah, Maxon himself is a cyborg.
Nemean Subdermal Armor can be found in New Vegas, too (as can the Monocyte-Breeder implant that heals the player over time - very very very very slowly unless you install a mod to make this thing worthwhile!)
Okay, I believe when Arthur Maxson became the new Elder, he purged and destroyed any knowledge about turning people into cyborgs because he viewed cyborgs as inhuman monsters. That could be Star Paladin Cross's fate, she could been targeted for destruction and was killed with Reginald Rothchild. That or she was one of the members who were loyal to Owyn Lyons' philosophy and was killed when many who still remained loyal to Lyons were purged during the rejoining of the Brotherhood of Steel and the Brotherhood Outcast.
Ironic, given that one computer log…
He was opposed to machines mascarading as humans, not cybernetic implants in humans.

Keep up the fantastic work!
Star Paladin Cross was probably executed and all traces of her erased by Maxson due to his hyper fanatical view on technology. In his eyes, she was an amalgamation of machine and man, kind of like some other synthetic humanoids he wasn’t fond of.
Such top tier quality fallout content. Thank you for your hard work Syn!

great video man. cant wait for the next one. stay safe.
I'd imagine paladin cross died at the same time as the lyons, and because they're more notable names in brotherhood history, cross's name was just lost to time (even though it was only 10 years)

Crazy stuff. Glad you covered them
I think in enough dialog option in Fallout 4 Proctor Ingrim mentions not onlyshe need the power-armour to survive but also the fall has damaged her inner organs so much that the Powersuits underframe supply system actually has to support her vitals and without it she would die horribly. Even if it is just like a support system for lungs/heart or so on. At least I guessed that is cause her words been something like "I can't take that suit off at all. Its part of me. Without it I will die."
I always look forward to your uploads! I appreciate what you do, man. Keep it up!
Missed out on not saying “Teaching this old dog new tricks”
Paladin Cross was omitted from Fallout 4 for the simple reason that her existence wouldn't mesh well with the new xenophobic brotherhood regarding synths as abominations... seems to me that they would see cyborgs in a similar vein. For a lore-based explanation, perhaps she was exiled or killed by the new leadership, and other brotherhood cyborgs were also purged, and any evidence of their existence erased from the records
Thank you for another great video

My favourite thing about Ingram is that when you use the Synth fabricator mod from Nexus to create a synth copy of her, she'll exit the fabricator as a Rad Roach that's fully voiced and acts as a regular settler and is also listed as a robotic construct... she's the only npc that has that happen to them, and I found that absolutely hilarious. Makes me wonder what the devs had to conjure up to make this npc work
42:00 minute video, hell yeah! I love the longer form stuff. Well done!
Thank you for making videos.
Well the answer as to what bio-med gel colors means is obvious, it's what flavor they are!
I really like the length of these new videos.
9:10 except the records in the robobrain production facility in the Automatron DLC say that this process was never consistent, usually resulting in Robobrains that retained the psychotic tendencies of the death row inmates they came from...
I got the impression that Kellogg was a different kind of synth with false memories and/or middle age Shaun synth. Nothing specific but there are hints like how the institute trusts him with things they shouldn't.
Honestly I didn't even notice Ingram's legs were missing until she pointed it out.
I would say the robobrains experience degradation due to lack of maintance - something think tank robots were not experiencing - meaning they could service themselves and they did have access to many resources like - replacement biomed gels supplies.
Love your videos man 😊

This is the 1st time seeing you upload a new video since joining your channel, I got hyped, lol. I got the blunt, time for a new fallout video by Synonymous 👍🔥💯
Another day Synonymous has blessed us with a lore video. What a time to be alive.
The Brotherhood seemed to have forgotten many of it members from Fallout 3... Like Reginald Rothchild the Head Scribe.
Bethesda just forgot about Star Paladin Cross. Todd Howard doesn't play his games once they're out. He only just recently played again Oblivion in over a decade and only for some promotional thing for Starfield.
I honestly almost completely forgot about Star Paladin Cross 😮
So did bethesda 😅
Isn't Arthur Maxon himself a cyborg? I could have sworn there's a terminal on the prydwen that mentions he's now "the perfect human specimen" thanks to his enhancements
Genetic engineering perhaps? His genes/DNA are 'perfect', as opposed to the degenerated DNA of most wasters methinks.
He is he got injured fighing a deathclaw and had the surgery to survive.
Most likely reason for Cross not being mentioned in FO4 is that Bethesda don't care sadly. I mean Emil Pagliarulo himself iirc has stated he doesn't care to write good stories due to a few people criticising his previous stories. Lore wise? I guess the new fascistic Maxson Brotherhood wouldn't want to acknowledge a cyborg as they see them as no different to synths maybe?
What a fragile ego. "Someone criticized my work, now I don't care anymore" Criticism is meant to propel you to improve, not cause a nuclear meltdown. What an unapologetic weenie.
I personally didnt like her and lets be real, i can totally see thr nerd boys using them cybernetics to frame her to kill Maxson.
When I heard Jim Cummings' voice early in the video, I thought it was a sound clip from an early game. I'm so glad to discover otherwise, and can't wait to hear it in Fallout 4 🙂
All these creatures are horrifying.
Hearing about the biomed gel being in different colours makes me think that maybe people would get to pick a colour just like we have different colour materials for casts when a bone is broken. Fun lil idea tbh
For Cross, I imagine she's been sent back to the West Coast since she doesn't need food or sleep. She'd be the perfect choice for first contact and surviving the continental trek. She's an incredibly skilled Veteran with advanced abilities and could brief the West Coast on the East Coast
Tactics-completely fine, best art style of the series imo. BOS? Nyet
Paladin Cross was just forgotten about cause the devs of fallout 4 didn't play any of the games
Needed some more Synonymous in my life ❤
The path I see for Cross is that Maxson saw her as an ‘abomination’ as she wasn’t technically fully human anymore. She was either exiled or executed and thus was no longer mentioned in the archives. The worse case scenario is her entire existence is scrubbed due to her both being a cyborg and saving the Elder most disliked by every Brotherhood branch
It's almost guaranteed that when elder maxson took over anyone who was defending Lions on his side or agreed with any of the lines pride was eliminated
Yay a new fallout video. And 42 min? Early Christmas.

I Loved the Nuka cola dlc. Not the bandit part. But the theme park. When i finally got to bradburton first time i felt rather stupid because they did the "walt disney is cryo frozen under the matterhorn" and i never saw it coming
I don't think there's anything more I'd want - or have wanted - in Fallout 4's vanilla game than cybernetic implants. The closest we get is collectible items we can take from Kellogg's corpse, which the Institute themselves gave to him... but we, the player, can't get cybernetic augmentations?
Don't listen to those haters! I love hearing you mention tactics! It has such an interesting lore and atmosphere, it's a shame people exclude it.
😀
I love how the reavers sound exactly like Adeptus mechanicus
You forgot our boy Cassidy from Fallout 2! One of my favorite followers, really good with a hunting rifle. For those who do not know, he's Cass's father from FNV, you can find him in Vault City outside the walls, tending the bar and cussing out the city guards. He's got a brain implant of some sort according to his description and an unused head model.
He's not a cyborg, just a man with a fake eye and a metal plate in his head
At the end you mentioned a nemean sub dermal armor, this is probably in reference to the Nemean lion from the laborers of Hercules whos skin was impenetrable
Well, concerning Cross, the BOS in Fallout 3 were essentially rebels (and the outcasts were actually those that remained true to the BOS tenets - thanks, Bethesda weird naming logic), so it would make sense that most of them would walk away instead of returning to the fold
that cybernetic stuff is horrifying, tbh. Just look at Mr House 💀
Its awesome
Mr house doesn’t even care bro, he’s on the grind constantly and will shove anyone out of the way to get what he wants
Also could you check into FO 1&2 lore? Feel like there is so much there and your chosen one video was amazing.
I dunno if anyone else has already commented this but you can buy cybernetic enhancements in Fallout New Vegas at the New Vegas Medical Clinic and one of them is actually the NEMEAN Subdermal Armor, for 8,000 caps.
Great topic. Cheers m8
Well, my theory on what happened to Paladin Cross is Bethesda Writing. The concept was too interesting so she had to go.
Always a good day when Synonymous uploads
Imagine having access to cybernetic enhancements like this in real life…
You forgot about something for the courier as far as cyborgs go he can also purchase implants from an unnamed clinic to the north/ north east of gun runners or somewhere near there as well as from the big MT
Cross probably got purged once the Maxson brat took over, given his hatred of machines.
He is himself a cyborge there is a terminal on the airship that says he had to have cybernetic surgery due to injuries sustained fighting a deathclaw when the was younger.
Just imagining John Caleb Bradburtons situation freaks me out so much it makes my chest get tight with anxiety. It''s such a grim fate, by all rights he should be completely irredeemably insane.
22:40 There could have been faction in brotherhood that didn't approve of her but couldnt do anything about it and Maxon seems like this kind of person. Once he got to power, they could have just gotten rid of her as a 'synth abomination' like Danse.
I always thought that Star Paladin cross just didn't go with Maxson cause he's kinda an extremist leader so she either stuck with the remnants in the capital wasteland or along with that bs of Sarah Lyons perishing in battle (And possibly just died with her) The more likely I assumed is similar to the outcast she defected considering she's a woman with robotic parts and does not need to eat or sleep and Maxson's hatred of they synths I don't think he'd accept her as a member, as they got more greedy, stupid and vindictive. So she could be out there in the capital as a "True brotherhood!" leading or apart of her own splinter cell, or maybe like a cool cyborge outlaw that protects the weak!
Great video 😊
Another great video

Oh man! 40+ minutes of fresh Synonymous101! Happy day! Callooh-callay!
“Nemean” refers to the nemean lion that Hercules had to slay. It had an impenetrable hide. Iirc he had to club it to death or maybe choke it.
I've played the Big Mountain DLC and yet I still hear "it's a living dog's brain, combined with a machine gun" and go "wat."
Regarding the question about Star Paladin Cross at around 22:40...tbh I think she's dead. I suspect that sometime after FO3, the hardliners opposed to Lyons' reforms carried out a silent coup, arranging for the deaths of Owen and Sarah Lyons (if the former wasn't already dead by then) and other members of Lyons' inner circle like Star Paladin Cross. They then installed Arthur Maxson as their puppet Elder and brought the Outcasts back into the fold. Now, they didn't reverse all of the reforms, keeping the ones that they believed worked or were at worst a necessary evil, while refocusing their efforts back on their original mission.
