Ultimately right now I see, Gaethje disrupting Max Holloway with his low kicks and right hand. Gaethje has shown improvements in entering and exiting the pocket. More defensively sound even though he does seem to get stun in every fight. If Holloway implements a matador style instead of the way he’s been fighting lately being on the back foot , he could overwhelm Gaethje at some point but the damage that might be returning his way could be deadly.

My immediate impression of the fight was that Gaethje was gonna batter Max badly. Then I started picturing them in their doing their thing, and I can see Justin doing what Dustin did to Max the first 2 rounds, then he starts to slow down, Max starts picking it up. Justin is looking for spots to rest and take a breath but Max is all over him. I think if Max can survive and get good momentum going this fight is gonna be crazy.
The problem is that I feel like Holloway has to pressure gaethje and overwhelm him but in that process I just see him taking a lot of damage. Holloway is willing to take shots to give one and I’m not sure it’s smart against gaethje

I was asking for the fight and I’ve been confident in Holloway from the start hope I’m not wrong
I've been watching Max's recent fights and Justin's. They've both had moments where they look good, and moments where they look bad, which makes it a hard pick. Max didn't look good vs TKZ. He looked his best from Volk 2 - Rodriguez. Justin looking phenomenal vs Fiziev and Poirier 2. If Max can fight the way he did in the second Volk fight and put on the best performance of his career, he will make Gaethje look silly. If he does anything less, he gets brutalized.
This is the 3 year that I've been loving MMA and the UFC. These last few months have shown how fickle and toxic the MMA community is. Honestly MMA might have one of these most toxic fanbases. Example. When i started the sport in 2022, no one liked volk. The narrative was Holloway actually won the 2nd fight and Volk was not respected. Then people started to Glaze him after the 3rd Holloway win (shits crazy to think about) and now people are saying this dude is done.

He’s made adjustments to his style. Maybe because I rewatched his fight with Ortega and his fights with Volk but his speed has declined. Rewatch the third Volk fight, Volk did a great job of disrupting Max with the low kicks . I think gaethje is going to the same and disrupt Holloway. Everyone mentions how Holloway will touch up gaethje but no one brings up the punishment that will be returning Holloway’s way
Max isn’t regressing his style just changed for longevity purposes.. u could see tht in yair and allen . He isn’t trying to trade as much . To say he is not improving bc he is making adjustments is crazy

Fair enough maybe Gaethje doesn’t finish him but the punishment Holloway might take could be career changing. Holloway has always be more technical but power can change the things quickly. It adds strength wich is important for fighting a naturally bigger guy and that strength can be used to improve punching power but that really depends on the person and there build and ability

The damage isn't similar at all. Number one source of CTE for fighters is consistent hard sparring, which Holloway doesn't do at all...
I have changed my mind on this point, I looked at the numbers at Justin Gaethje does absorb more hits per minute.
It's always been a 50/50 fight and the BMF belt is total BS. They should both be fighting for real belts Max against Ilia and Justin against Islam.
Max’s skill has improved. Skill ways he kinda sucked during his early champ fights, he had zero defense
He’s more technical but he’s definitely toned down that matador pressure style he used to have in his earlier fights. I think trying to be technical when you’re the fighter with the power disadvantage in this fight is a big mistake
JG is just too much for MH. I'm not changing my mind till I see I'm wrong. His power and accuracy are insane, he has just as good a chin as MH, and now he's patient and has better cardio... I don't think it's gonna be an easy fight for JG, but I really don't see him losing

Max Holloway doesn’t have the same matador style that he used to tho. He fights in the back foot and he uses his lead hand to gage distance. Gaethje was on the back foot in the Poirier rematch and go rewatch it
To say they have taken the same amount of damage is a WILD TAKE. Max Holloway hasn’t taken nearly as much damage as Justin Gaethje because he wasn’t sparring for a long time. Fighters often take more head trauma in sparring than they do in their actual fights.

This is a terrible stylistical Matchup for gaethje. Khabib Dustin Eddie Charles, what did they all have in common? Pressure, what does max bring, pressure. Holloway ain’t getting past Gaethje. Maybe he can land some straights here and there, but stylistically Max isn’t getting past Gaethje. He has poor defense, can’t weaponize his cardio cuz gaethje has good cardio too, and Gaethje in his last fight showed even when hurt he’s still a dangerous counter striker. I mean look in all of max’s fights. He gets clipped over and over and over. Gaethje will do the same with some real lightweight power. And we don’t know if his chin will hold up.
I really do feel Holloway has been slowly declining. His speed, his foot work and his athleticism I think he has taken a bit of hit maybe because of the fights he’s been in. Meanwhile gaethje seems to be improving
