  • I picked the winners this time! That Reserve Champion just had a little spunk that set him apart. But, the male rider, all in black on a black steed was impressive. Good soundtrack with the video. I heard once that for a show, they put Vaseline around the eyes of the horse as "mascara" to make the eyes stand out. That's why Arabian horses often appear to have a darker area around the eye.

    @Rubiastraify@Rubiastraify2 ай бұрын
    • Good call on the champion and reserve champion! I had the champion but then had about a four-way tie for second place.😂 I believe it's actually a type of oil that they put around the eyes and muzzle. But same idea as with using Vaseline.

  • Beautiful conformations, gaits, and immaculate grooming. The coat colors on these particular Arabians are rather plain, but they are otherwise exemplary. There are lots of excellent breeders out there with magnificent, highly typey, straight Egyptian stock that produce specimens of excellent health, impressive conformation, and stunning action and movement WITH beautiful coats as well. There's always room for improvement in any program of course.

    @Old_World_Nobility@Old_World_Nobility2 ай бұрын
    • Thanks for your great and insightful comment! I think the reason for the coat colors being a little plain is because this class was for purebred Arabians and they have limited coat colors. @juliaforsyth8332@juliaforsyth83322 ай бұрын
    • Yes, those are pads to give a little extra weight on the hooves. Those long bit shanks don't hurt unless they're pulled on too hard. I didn't see any of these horses throwing their heads around or acting up like they would if they were in pain from those bits. And every show in the world for the Arabians, Morgans, saddlebreds, and others all use bits like. Do you think they're all doing it wrong?

  • I love the Arabs - I own a SE myself ... I think when you reach this level they are all winners! I will note that at 1:33-1:40 it looks like NKC is 'paddling' out his feet which is why I didn't choose him for 'top' - I'm sure it must be the camera angle (?) ... Additionally, I am a fan of the natural look - the extra high head carriage and weighted feet do not, in my opinion, improve on what has been bred into the Arabs .... these poses and exaggerated movements look strange in all breeds though - its a slippery slope into sea-horse noses and big lick strides. Thanks for the video for those of us who cannot make the shows!

    @lori5455@lori54552 ай бұрын
    • Why do you think their bits are brutal? They are only harsh if they are pulled on too hard. But if that happens the horse is not going to just keep running calmly and smoothly like these are. They are going to throw their heads and act up if that's the case.

      @MagnificentHorses@MagnificentHorses2 ай бұрын
  • I’ve had a closer look. There are weights of some type on these horse’s hooves! Are they not magnificent enough without adding weighted shoes to make them step higher, to exaggerate their step? Are you Arabian owners headed the same way as the “big lick” Tennessee Walkers? If this is what I’m seeing then shame on you, if I’m wrong I will apologize.

    @cindycox9361@cindycox93612 ай бұрын
    • You are right that Arabian horses look magnificent without weighted shoes but I don't think there's any doubt they look even better with them. Is there a problem that you see with them having weighted shoes? All the other breeds that are rather flashy do the same thing. Breeds like Saddlebreds, Morgans, Friesian, Hackney ponies, and more. Do you think all of them are doing it the wrong way?

      @MagnificentHorses@MagnificentHorses2 ай бұрын
    • Thank you Cindy for your persistence. Artificial alterations may be 'acceptable' according to current rules, but it's a tragic mistaken curse on the future of the breed. When people take lower quality animals and alter them to make them ☆"Winners"☆ they don't stop with just the glory and ribbons... they pass on the undesirable traits to the next generation. It would be nice if there were classes for classic Arabians and separate competition for hobby and half-Arabs. Let them be flashy as they want without endangering the linage of beauty, balance, character and intelligence.
