Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show Liberty Run Finals!
Watch 5 beautiful Arabian horses compete in the championship finals of the Liberty Run at the 2024 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
The Liberty Run is where a pair of handlers brings these gorgeous Arabian horses into the arena one at a time to let them run free.
All five of these horses won preliminary rounds to make it into the finals held on the 2nd Saturday night of the 11-day Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show. This is the biggest Arabian horse show in the world with hundreds of classes and the competition there is fierce!
It's tough to pick a winner because all of these horses are so good, but you can try to pick the winner as you relive this Liberty Run with 4K video that makes you feel like you're there in person!

@@cowgirlamy8252 very cool and I hope it works out to get the Arabian. I have a couple of videos about Lucy the mini horse that I think you would like. I appreciate how easy they are to catch after being chased around the arena.
Yeah, that first one in particular just stood right there and let the handler come up to it no problem.
Never knew this was a competion- what a great celebration of their natural beauty
Thanks, and yes it's a really cool class to watch.
They’re the Huskies of the horse world. They aren’t the biggest, they aren’t the strongest and they aren’t the fastest, but when the last of the other breeds drops dead from exhaustion the Arabians are asking when the warmups will end and the race start.
😂 That's a really good way to put it!

Magnificent! I picked Enrique C to win but he did get Reserve so that's cool. I just liked his attitude and the way he went right up to the camera. I couldn't decide on first place. I always get too excited seeing such beautiful, graceful horses. Thank you! You get such amazing videos.
Enrique C definitely had a lot going for him! Thanks for your comment and I'm really glad you enjoy the videos.❤️
I picked him too as the one i would like to take home😊. I don't really understand how they judge that class
@@pixie706 they are judged on how well they conform to the Arabian type, how well they use the entire arena, how good their movement is, and how much the crowd likes them and reacts to them.
number one, they are judged on animation and charisma, Arabian type, and how much of the arena they take up and how much the crowd likes them. i know because i was there. second, I'm pretty sure the champion only wins $2500. reserve champion: $1000 and the rest gets $500. The winner doesn’t get a full $5000! someone from my barn participated so i was kinda informed a lot. They split it between the whole class, depending on where you placed. hope that this helps someone!!! ; )
I'm glad you were able to be there in person! Thanks for the info. Most horse events with prize money have it divided up by multiple entrants. But I didn't know how this prize money was distributed so thanks for sharing about that.

Lol. They 100% know what they are doing and are playing up to the crowd. They are all beautiful. It would so gard to choose the winner
💯! But hey, if I looked that good and moved that well I would want to show off too!🤣
I had a 7/8 Arabian mare, she was so smooth to ride. Arabians have one less set of ribs, compared to other breeds ❤ Beautiful when they show off!
Your mare sounds great and must have been a really nice ride. Thanks for sharing that and also for the other info!
I just learned that this year. It seems there is one less bone in their tails also that enables the flagging?
@@arribaficationwineho32 yes that is correct about the tails.
Arabians are my favourite breed. The riding school I went to had a beautiful Arabian stallion that would participate in lessons, and he was my favourite. So much raw power but yet so obedient and always listening, a real gem for a stallion. I guess he was never frustrated even near mares that flirted with him because he got to father a lot of foals the natural way lol. He looked a lot like Enrique C, so he's got to be my pick!

Thank you so much for sharing this video. The horses are all gorgeous. I love #4. Arabians are my absolute favourite horses.
You're welcome and thanks for the nice comment!
For sympatic i prefered #3 but for beauty #4, just like results. But i prefer to see horses in trott to see their beautiful trot. More like in the friesians inspections. 🥰
I think Friesians in general trot more than Arabians. Probably because the Friesians are more heavy boned. I like watching them all canter but I do like seeing them trot, too.
The first horse reminds me of a book I read when I was young. I grew up riding hunters with my bratty large pony mare so Arabians werent really on my radar but I still think they are beautiful! The book was called Riding the Wind and the cover was an illustration of a girl jumping a gray arabian. It went along the lines of the horse got injured so she was able to work and save enough to buy her if she helped rehab her. It was a great book. My daughter rides now so I have passed all my books to her. I will say that I remember the very first barn I rode at they had a chestnut Arab named Pat. I always loved him! He was bombproof and just trotted around happily 😊
Aw, all of that is so sweet to hear! Thanks for sharing.
Well, I missed both the champion and reserve, but they are all gorgeous animals. I love how Arabians seem to levitate when they trot! I went to a small horse show once that had Arabians, and it was a joy to watch them live and up close. Thanks for the commentary and sweet picture at the end--their parents must be so proud!

just a note for the gentleman commenting, the first two are female, the other three males. All five are beautiful.
Thank you, I thought of that after I uploaded the video that some of them could be mares (or possibly fillies). Oh well, I'll get it right next time!
Just out of curiosity, what is your connection with the first two horses that you know they are female? I'm not doubting you in the least but I'm just curious about how you know them.
@@MagnificentHorsesNo connection. I do not know any of the horses or their owners. I raise horses, it's almost automatic to check if the horse I am looking at is male or female, but the names also gave it away. Those are female names, while the other three were male names. But if you look at the horses, you will see, the first two, are mares.

Thanks… I thought of that after I made the video that I should've checked the gender of each horse! They are most often stallions or geldings, but thanks for letting us know about that.
God's rarest breed of horse with one less vertebrae in their backs than other breeds!
Yes to both of those things!💯
This horse is great. The movement is heavenly - flying with the wind. 🎉 Sadly the head is too small. I am sorry for the Arabians and their former elegant faces.😢
Agreed about the heavenly movement. And a lot of people agree with you about how the heads have evolved with selective breeding.
old photos of arabs from 100 years ago or so show that their heads were wedge shapes, and the real “disk” was just an illusion created by their large jibbah, bulging forhead not convex face. there are still some arabs like that out there! very few problems associated with their head like tooth crowding, sinus drainage, and surgeries being harder to perform on them compared to other horses.
What are they judged on? I’ve never understood these liberty classes in Arabian shows. So bizarre how the handlers keep yanking on their faces too, do they actually want them to hold their heads so high? It’s like backwards world compared to most (not Arabian)halter classes
They are judged on four categories: How closely the horse looks like the Arabian type, how much of the arena they use when they run, their motion when running, and crowd participation. The yanking on the halter seems to be universal for showing Arabians. I am not a big fan of that either.
Please educate yourself on the Arabian breed before you criticize the class in an Arabian Show. It’s different from what you’re familiar with, but it’s not bizarre. It’s a class capitalizing on the beauty and movements of the Arabian breed.
@@lindaerickson5750 isn’t it education to ASK people who are interested in Arabian shows? It IS at the very least bizarre ( I’m substituting that for more critical words that I’m sure you would take offense to) that people think it’s OK to yank on a horse’s sensitive face. Lifelong horse person here- I’m not coming in from the street. I’m struggling to understand why people approach horses in this way- not just Arabians, but a number of other disciplines. We know better, can do better. For the love of the horse.

@@lindaerickson5750”Bizarre” is the face snatch snatch snatch. You don’t trust the horse’s own natural beauty ?
The sorrel seems larger? Or chestnut? #3. Love how he checked out the audience and camera
I didn't notice him being larger but wouldn't doubt that he is. I think these horses can be half Arabian, so if they are bred to Saddlebreds in particular they would tend to be larger. Both of the reddish horses in the video are chestnut because they don't have a dark mane and tail.
@@MagnificentHorses thank you!

@@MagnificentHorses I subbed and alarmed to your channel. Having watched an Arab online grow up and get trained, I find a love for the breed. Friesian being my most favorite which was a buddy to this Arab. He was very skittish and never did seem to grow out of it. Are they all like this?
@@geminidream4347 OK great, I'm glad you subscribed and did the notifications for my channel! I'm not sure if you meant the Arabian or the Friesian that was skittish but I'm guessing it's the Arabian. They would tend to be more that way than Friesians, and I think they used to be more that way than they are now. But in general they are not all that skittish in my opinion, especially as they get older.
I never understood why these people don't encourage their horses to trot more. They're so impressive at the trot. They chase them around too hard. I only push my gelding as much as I need to to keep him trotting, & he looks darn good! These people go crazy...
I don't think the handlers are crazy and the crowd likes seeing the horses really run hard. But you are not the first one to say you would like to see them more at the trot. And yes, their trot is amazing with how they bounce like they're on springs!
Apparently they ride a lot smoother on the canter
@@januaryfreeze3283 that makes sense because just watching them it sure looks like they would be smoother at the canter than at the trot.
Let me ask a silly question. Has any horse ever jumped into the judges nest in the middle? The wall is not that tall, and these horses are all worked up.
That's not a silly question at all. I have seen hundreds of these horses in that liberty run over the years and none have ever come close to jumping the wall. Horses typically don't jump things unless they are trained to do so and have a rider on them. I actually do jumping myself, so I kind of know about that. Rarely a horse will jump a gate on its own if it has already been trained, but they would never jump into a place that's full of stuff like that judges area.
Yes, although rare, it’s happened.
If you search KZhead you'll find a video where there's an arena that's really too crowded with jumps & a rider pulling her horse's head just as he/she goes over each jump. The horse shakes its head, hops a little & ditches the rider, then proceeds to take every jump in the arena on its , clearly having a good time, jumping w/ beautiful form, never even tapping a bar. A good rider once told me that w/ a good jumper, the rider's job is basically to point the horse at the jump & not screw up what the horse knows how to do. This video is hilarious proof of that, tho' in general I think there's more to it than point-&-hang-on!
Yes it is more. A good jump rider should learn not to disturb the horse's movement. Sadly there are seldom such riders.
@@dalenderocha2561 the horse may jump a fence on its own, but I just don't think there's any way that any horse would ever jump in to that crowded judges booth.
Long toes !
Interesting. I didn't think their hooves were all that long. Was there one in particular or did you think that about all of them?
How much does it cost to buy one of these horses?
Really not sure how this is a judged class. How do you score them racing around?
That's a good question. The judges have different categories. One is how well the horse fits the Arabian type. Another area is movement. The third is use of the arena (as in they want the horse to use the entire arena), and last is crowd participation.
GREAT VIDEO..however horses ears weren't pricked, duh, they were "perked," yes. OTHERWISE WELL NARRATED and the slow motion makes us feel we're watching Pegasus, flying ? GOOD ONE.

This horse show.
I picked Enrique C to win, I think what made it or the grey horse in the end was the handler having to jump trying to halter her horse. That brief bit of comedy from a teenage girl stuck in the judges minds tipping the balance in the end.
It was really cute and funny but I would be surprised if the judges gave that any merit. But there is no doubt that those two horses were really close in how well they performed.

I like seeing them both with and without humans but without is probably the coolest.
this would be more impressive if they taught them liberty work instead of just chasing them around.
You're just full of negative comments, aren't you? It's really easy to sit back and criticize what others are doing. Is there anything at all you can see that is a positive in this video?
could teach them to drop the head for the halter too all in all not an impressive display of how these horses are trained
Well, it may not have been impressive to you but it was extremely impressive to me, and I see a whole lot of Arabian Horses at shows.
Bouncy gait means he’s bern bred against type for flashy show moves. This is how shows select for arbitrary traits that often ruin breeds.
Arabian Horses have been bouncing like that as long as I can remember and it doesn't seem to have ruined the breed.
@@MagnificentHorses Not my understanding and experience. Maybe you’re referring to the show-focused so prevalent in the country. Many of us have seen well bred , multipurpose animals with plenty of the Arabian horse flash, without extra bounce.
@@Ketowski I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I think that bounce in their step is really cool and has helped the breed, not hurt it. But you are certainly entitled to a differing opinion.

Thanks and good analogy!
Why do you keep saying "HE"???? These are obviously mares. 🙄
Because most of them over the years that run in this class are stallions or geldings. In this case there are two mares out of the five. I thought about that some could be mares after I made the video but by it was too late.
The horses get wound up because the audience is screaming like banshees. 🙄
The crowd certainly adds to the energy of the whole place including the horses. Just like with humans playing in a ball game.
kicking at a handler is never acceptable, and no reason they can't learn what 'times up' means
He did not kick at her he kicked to the side playfully like horses often do when they're first turned loose. And how often do you think these horses can be trained to just stop at the end of an exhilarating run in an arena surrounded by thousands of people?
This is a terrible class. The bagging is abominable. It takes zero skill to terrorize a horse.
If you think those horses are being terrorized you are not reading the signs that they are giving off.
