Curious to see if we’ll get another Khamzat vs Burns where both fighters realize how much they respect each others grappling and keep the fighting standing
If it goes past 3 rounds, it’ll be a snooze fest with Islam in Charles guard
Burns is a better pure bjj guy then Charles. Charles has better bjj for mma but Charles gets submissions not out of his guard mostly , but off of transitions. Whether he’s hurting a guy on the feet and then submitting them like gaethje and teymur or getting submissions off someone catching a kick or shooting a bad shot like Kevin , or ducking under. Burns is also a lot more defensive with his bjj. With chimaev he used the butterfly and high knee shield to keep Chimaev just enough at bay to where he couldn’t land his gnp and Chimaev who is a LOT less patient and calculated then islam was not content to just lay in the guard of burns who was stifling Chimaevs attacks. Charles does have good sweeps tho, he has a good del a riva guard , he also attacks a lot off his back which his offense is his defense when he’s at bottom because it keeps his opponent preoccupied but typically he isn’t finishing high lvl guys in his guard and unless he really catches islam dead to rights like Brian had volk, I don’t see his attacks deterring Islam to the point he stands back up. Charles best shot at submitting islam or out grappling him will be to hurt him on the feet and catch islam making a mistake in a panic shot or transition after hurting him. I think early Charles will be the most dangerous, but if Islam gets out of the first 2 I think he can and will control and rack up the last 3 rounds or that is the highest probability. Charles is still always very dangerous though so it’s impossible to really say.
@@worldview6218 Great breakdown. I'd agree that Charles has better MMA BJJ. Charles wouldn't have missed the arm bar like Burns missed against Kumshot. You are right, Charles doesn't have many submissions from his guard, but he's better than most at rolling/sweeping and not holding guard so he gets into more scrambles and catches people in transition. Charles can beat Islam in more ways than just Stand Up or in the Guard. I see a situation where he kicks and knees a lot to either keep Islam from shooting for a double, or catches Islam with a knee like Masvidal did with Askren if Islam blindly dives for the double. If that doesn't work, then I see Charles sprawling and fighting the takedown long enough to then get a submission attempt out of it similar to Rose or Mighty Mouse when they used a flying arm bar during a takedown attempt. Lots of possibilities my BJJ friend. If Islam can get the takedown and flatten Charles out near the cage, that's where Charles is unable to use a submission attempt and that's how he could lose. We shall see. It should be interesting.

I'm honestly so impressed with how cool and calm Islam always is, but especially now. To see that continue even during the most important fight in his life... It's something to look up to. You can tell he's a well rounded individual, not just a well rounded fighter. But as soon as he said after he gets enough title defenses he wants to jump to next division... My mind immediately went to khamzat. I doubt khamzat will ever cut wait to welterweight again... But maybe for Islam he might... Then there's Conor McGregor. I know when he comes back he'll be aiming to get the welterweight belt... If he SOMEHOW managed to do that. We might see Conor khabib 2.0
I was a fan of Conor's fights, but he's washed up now. While everyone was training he was enjoying his money and business moves. Can't blame him, but he's definitely now worth watching anymore
