This fight is a lose lose for Islam to be honest. Even if he wins dominantly people will just discredit him because of the short notice.

Well in their last fight when it went to the ground (except for the 5th when volk dropped Islam and started ground and pounding) no damage was really done, the damage dealt was done standing trading shots. If damages is done on the ground it will be bc one of them got dropped and the other jumps on top. This is gonna be mostly about striking, especially since they both want a finish/KO early in the fight.

In my opinion, Alex has spoken very confidently about how he is ready to fight Islam at 2 weeks notice. Bare in mind, they are both fighting an opponent they were not expecting to fight. So whoever wins, I dont think the narrative should be that Alex came in out of shape and this be used as reasoning for why he loses. The guy is constantly training to fight afterall. If we were talking about a lesser athlete that didnt live and breathe MMA then maybe this would be the case. So if Alex loses then there is really no need for a third fight between these two men. If Islam dominates the fight, equally, the narrative shouldnt be that Alex came in unprepared. Islam will havw defended his title twice and won twice against the same challenger. Islam says that Alex is doing this for the money. I like looking up fighters net worth to see if this is true, as some of these fighters lower down the rankings aren't doing too well financially. Alex's net worth is at least 3 million. If you cant equate what this means in real terms, if he kept 2 million in a high interest savings account, Alex would generate 50k a year minimum doing absolutely nothing. Point being, he could retire now. A lot of these guys could. And never have to work again. This is about legacy for both guys. Both want the same thing and this is really high level competition. Respect to both fighters. Like them both.

People always get this wrong. Alex isn't going to be 100%, that isn't a narrative - it is fact. Alex taking the fight doesn't mean that he thinks he is 100%, it means that he thinks his 80% is enough to get the job done. So if Alex wins then he beat Islam despite being underprepared. If he loses then it is still possible to say that he would have won had he had that extra 20%. If Islam dominates him then there is no need for a trilogy. If Volk wins at 80% then there is no need for a trilogy. If it is a close fight and Islam wins, a trilogy will still be needed. Islam should be dominating this fight to prove anything.
People don't get it. What Islam wants to convey is Alex took this fight mainly because UFC is paying him huge paycheck. Bigger than the first fight. Meanwhile he will get the respect of everyone whether he wins or loses. Since, Islam won the first fight, everybody expect him to win the rematch, not Alex.
