Henin was small but she packed a wallop, that backhand was a thing of beauty....she was so fun to watch, i miss her........
Justine is pure technique, look at the foot work, the speed, the ball striking. One of the most complete tennis players of all time.
she had the most success here, the clay court, because of the crowd, both the Belgian and French crowd antagonized Serena.
@@angel91485 bullshit
@@andreasmissiroli6915 I know right, they’re bullshit
@@angel91485It's the beauty vs the beast, intelligence vs force, grace vs heavyness. Every point Henin plays is smart and unexpected, Williams plays like a machine. In GS Henin leads 4-3.
100% agree!
Henin's backhand was a thing of beauty
This shows how with proper preparation a one handed backhand is a lethal weapon. beautiful technique by Henin.
Beautiful technique, but a cheater player
More full matches on your KZhead channel please! Australian, Wimbledon, and US Open are SO far ahead of you in that regard and it doesn’t have to be like that.
To me Henin's backhand is the best shot ever in women's tennis alongside Serena Williams ' serve. Notice her forehand is not bad either. These two were such amazing players
I feel really bad for WTA, nobody shows the level of Henin again for already more than 10 years
Henin is the best one backhanded in tennis women's history
This is a match where Serena allowed the crowd to overwhelm her, in her later years she was able to us it to push her forward but here she crumbled a bit in the end.
the crowd was warm to her initially & .both of her complains wouldn't have affected her game if she just let it go..she should have known from the Hings debucle, that the RG crowd don't like complains even if you're right...she could have won that game.
I'm pretty certain it was a small Belgian won who 'overwhelmed' her, not the crowd. She played brilliantly for much of the match. It came down to just a few extra moments from Henin, esp. defensively. Anyone who wins 23 majors isn't letting the crowd cause them to lose this far into their pro career.
Yes in her game against Osaka in 2018, she really used the crowd to bully the opponent.
I suspect the pressure got to Serena too. She was going for her 5th grand slam in a row here and I think she was pretty frazzled. She only won 3 of the next 16 grand slams.
What an amazing player Henin truly was to be successful at this level. She was physically tiny, had a 1HB and in amongst the era of power players yet still played attacking tennis.
We're Tiny but Brave, and full of heart 😎🙃😍
The next month she beats Henin 63 63 in Wimbledon. Sweet revange!!
63 62
Henin beat her at 3 different slams in 2007, and she won 2 of those slams. It was a good rivalry. Henin and Clijsters were the only two "real" rivals that Serena had in her carreer. And by real I mean that they could really be better than her consistently and in big occasions. All the credit for Serena's 2012 resurgence are given to muratoglou, but I think she was able to win a lot after 2012 because there weren't Kim and Justine (at their best) around.
@@milvao3400Better than her on big occasions? Kim beat Serena twice and lost 7 times. She only beat her once at a slam. Henin dominated Serena in 2007 mostly due to Henin playing incredible tennis and Serena not at her best because she barely played tennis in 2006. Both were incredible players, but Serena had other tough rivals like Venus and Capriati who I feel were bigger rivals than Clijsters. But it's clear that Serena at her best is better than all of them at their best except on clay in the case of Justine Henin. Henin is better than Serena on clay. And also they weren't at their best in 2012 because they couldn't compete with the younger players. Their bodies broke down. The fact that Serena could continue to dominate shows she was superior to them.
@@kofipokuantwi-boateng5446 Venus shouldn't count because it's obvious that she's her biggest rival, due to the fact that she's also her sister. Tennis-wise Kim and Justine are the only players who didn't just beat Serena once or twice because they were lucky or because Serena wasn't at her best and/or underestimated them. That's my opinion because I watched the matches. Kim retired early and became a mother, otherwise she would have had more wins vs. Serena for sure.
@milvao3400 There's no guarantee Kim could have won more matches against Serena. She retired in 2007 mainly because of injuries and also a desire to start a family, and that's not Serena's problem. Kim was also losing to the so called weak Era players like Azarenka, Kerber and Laura Robson as well as Sharapova in 2012. I don't see how she was going to be a threat beyond 2012. Her body could no longer handle the demands of tennis. Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters are excellent players, but when Serena is playing at her best and without any injuries she's only vulnerable against Henin on clay. Capriati was a far tougher rival than Clijsters.
She was my favourite women's player after Steffi Graf. Her one handed backhand was her biggest weapon. When I watched this highlights, I still can't believe how Henin won this match as she was in a nearly losing position & Serena was never giving her any easy chances. This must be the greatest victory of her career !!
Serena would mop the floor with Graff 6-0 6-1, like she did with Sharapova at the Olympics 🤣
Graff has beaten Serena as well inspite of being in her twilight
@@akizaizinskii Is that before or after Sarena went on PEDs ??
@@binkyxz3 when did Serena go on PEDs? That’s news to me.
@@akizaizinskii It was revealed in Wiki Leaks that both Williams sisters took various PEDs and got secret waivers to do so from sports governing bodies. It was well before Serena had her first child. I don't have proof, but I speculate the PEDs could have contributed to her perilous pregnancy and delivery. Because she's pregnant now it will be interesting to see how it goes.
just look at the incredible level they play at, truly a joy to watch
That hand moment rattled Serena and she couldn’t pull it together because she didn’t expect Justine to use gamesmanship. Even without that moment, Serena might have lost the match but we will never know. The hand moment took away from what might have been an entertaining match. I’m glad that Henin regretted her behavior in this match and apologized to Serena eventually. The crowd was firmly against Serena and the gamesmanship along with the crowd rattled her too much. She was winning until that moment and never found her form again.
The thing is, she doesn't seem particularly rattled by it looking back at the incident. She seems to shrug it off and give an annoyed "whatever" gesture, as if she doesn't want to entertain the stupidity of the moment or something. I don't know, I always felt like the hand incident, while ugly, didn't define the match as much as people think it did. I think it really was the crowd getting into it. Mind you, that's not to excuse Henin for her lack of sportsmanship. I always admired her, but her desperate desire to win at all costs made her look ugly at times.
"Might have been an entertaining match"? Um... I would call this match more than entertaining.
@@niceguy1774 it was entertaining. I was sad the way Serena lost because it was a quality match. Far better than the matches we see these days in the WTA. Just wish the cheat moment hadn’t happened. At least Justine admitted and apologized a few years later.
It's interesting that Henin's game was quite Federeresq and yet clay was her best surface and grass her worst - the opposite to Roger
what an horrible crowd (I'm french)
French Open, by far, has the WORST crowd.
👏👏👏🎾❤️ Que de beau souvenir
Partizado, a tremendous match please come back ladies
That return at 3:11, nastyyyyyyyyy
Jelena said with serena , im not justin😂😂😂😂😂
Justine did not really dominate the clay! She was not able to win Wimbledon so I will give it to Serena when it comes to whoever is a better player.
Justine won 4 French Open titles, what do you mean she didn't dominate the clay? lol
Serena and Henin were clearly the two best player in the world in 2003. Earlier that year it was Venus and Serena but Venus faded after the 2003 Australian Open final. That year Serena won the Australian Open and Wimbledon and Henin won French Open and US Open.
So many god mode...unbelievable 👍👍👍

Every time SWs opening serve was Slider wide , its infuriating so few players caught on to that
J étais iper contente que Justine gagne 👏👏👏👏🎾
Le revers à 10:36 est d’une beauté🤌🏼
so glad Henin won that...
Henin had a good serve she saved lots of break points when it mattered with the serve
I really hate how the crowd wouldn’t even allow Serena to question some of the calls. The crowd would boo Serena for it is quite disgusting behavior.
Thanks for noticing that, I'm amazed at how unsportsmanlike the crowd is... Is it a racist thing? Henin clearly obstructed, yet the crowd are completely behind her
@@moo6672 It's because Henin was from the French-speaking part of Belgium. Either way, the crowd was poor.
Sareña was always either the victim or bully.
@@moo6672 Please, stop bringing up racism when it's clearly not the case. The French crowd doesn't like complain and sometimes every crowd misjudge what happens on the court and just start booing, that's what happened. They did the same thing with Hingis vs Graf. They were rooting for Henin for the most obvious reasons: she was the underdog, she played classic tennis and Roland Garros was almost like her home slam, since it's close to Belgium and there were probably lots of fans from Belgium up there. That's it.
@@milvao3400 white people and denying racism is a racist act on its own. How would you know what racism ix when you've never been a victim of it?
The GREAT Henin
Hear how quiet they are? Just a low release of sound from exertion is heard from either of them for basically the whole match. Yet more proof of how no player needs to do it; esp. since it's a bs unsportsmanlike attempt at trying to hide how hard they're hitting the ball.
Phenomenal match. Goes to show, at least in part, how insanely hard it was to get shots past Henin that Williams would try that drop shot at 40-AD in the 9th game of set 3. Thinking maybe she won't expect this and I MIGHT get one she can get to. But it was Henin- rabbit quick for a tennis player, and the best vollier in the WTA in her time.
Amazing match. Hard to believe this was on the slow French clay since the balls were going so fast! It is a shame Henin retired so early, she could have accomplished so much more.
The beat one handed bh in female tennis 🔥💪🏻
Loved Justine
Henin brilliant
Jh had one of the best looking backhands in both men and women tours, but her behavior on court was questionable to say the least. I had the fortune to officiate one of her matches as a linesmen when she was starting to explode in the rankings (Portugal), and I can tell you this: she had no problem using whatever antics she could to win a match. Unnecessarily though.
Compared to Serena Henin was an angel.
@@carrerau7138 delusional

It's pure bliss watching Henin. Are there any one-handed backhands left in women's tennis nowadays? I'm really curious to know.
Diane Parry, Tatjana Maria and Viktorija Golubic
Henin is one of best Tennis player in Women's Tennis History Class
I could be wrong, but I remember America had become unpopular in France because of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. That could explain why the crowd was cheering for Henin.
I don't think so. European and especially the French crowd are interested in tennis. There were many reasons for the crowd being so much in favour of Henin. The French Open is somewhat Henin's home slam, being from Belgium I'm sure there were lots of fans from Belgium up there, Serena was world n.1 and the crowd likes to root for the underdog and finally Henin plays classic tennis, and crowds at the time, and especially Europeans, used to love this style of thennis which was rare and disappearing. And Serena had already taken out Mauresmo in the previous round.
Queen of hand raises!
Serena and Venus were USA women's Tennis 🎾...the game is not the same without them 😔
the only mistake Serena made her was to be scared of the Henin backhand… she literally looked like she was feeding too much the Henin forehad which is an on and off stroke for Justine, some days it’s as explosive as her backhand some days it’s off….
En todo el partido Henin sabe perfectamente como deslizarse en la superficie y alcanzar las pelotas mientras que Serena se veía sumamente incómoda con golpes increíbles pero sin saber moverse.
What a brilliant performance of Henin. She showed how to play Serena best: by moving her and using the court perfectly. Her backhand was the most amzing in womens tennis. Sad that Hening quit the game so early. She could have been the big rival that Williams never had.
Justine tried to make a comeback but got mopped by Serena
@@darob20 Justine owned Serena at her best. Her career wasn't that long because she didn't cheat using TUE like Serena.

So glad Serena is gone. It's like a ray of sunshine.
it may be the only match when I wanted Williams to win, simply because of Henin's behaviour after the hand up controversy. Henin showed her unsportsmanlike attitude on many other occasions throughout her career. Never liked Serena, but I liked Venus, so classy in her demeanour, but Henin I could not stand, despite her beautiful tennis (credits where credits are due).
Justine "the Hand" Henin... lol
i was 12 when i watched this match and i think it changed me on a molecular level lmaoooo the hand lmao. serena would've won this match. it was uncommon for her to have lost a match in a slam to a player who beat her the last time they played.

We must remember Henin' God' hand

Henin is such a sneaky cheating girl. She robbed Mauresmo of a grandslam competitive final, robbed clijsters in the Ao final without telling the truth, robbed Serena again by not telling the truth. Henin had a good game I’d admit but when the need to win outweighs that of basic sportsmanship and truthfulness I surely believe you need to leave the sport hence Serena,Clijsters and Mauresmo had the last laugh against her and they were all in finals, 2006 Wimbledon, 2010 Brisbane and 2010 Ao.

The king cobra is big, strong, with lethal venom but is 100% being toyed and teased by the Mongoose. Henin's technique is 100% super. She has the backhand from Gasquet and forehand from Nole.
