Foot fault at an extremely important point. Serena at US Open 2009

2018 ж. 11 Ақп.

Serena Williams, who lost both her temper and her US Open 2009 semi-final against Kim Clijsters, was fined $10,500 for her profanity-laced tirade against a lineswoman who called a foot fault against her.
Serena Williams finally apologized for her angry outburst.
What did she really say to the lineswoman?

  • When she's getting beat and outplayed, it's common for her to turn nasty. She did it here and she did it again after her two violations against Osaka. Totally inexcusable. Then trying to glorify herself by turning it into a women's rights issue is totally disingenuous and ridiculous. Poor sport, low class.

    • amen man. u know the irony here? I was a huuuge Serena fan and then this happened and I was so shocked and embarrassed and realized Serena is a bully and I hate bullies. and look at again today against Osaka, who probly worshipped the ground she walked on but still cut her ass. I mean u would think Osaka was the 23 time Slam champ and Serena was the rookie how she carried on today. her coach clearly admitted after the match he CHEATED and kudos for Ramos for having the balls to stand by his convictions and protect the integrity of the game.

    • Her attitude was over the top. But the coaching violation seems to exist in a very grey zone that doesn't seem to fool proof itself out of existence (which in itself is a bit dumb). Why not seat coaches on sides or out of player view. If what she says about men saying far worse things is true, then perhaps she raises more points in her merit. Her constant verbal abuse was perhaps uncalled for. Penalized for "Thief" doesn't seem right, but the prior verbal abuse was penalty worthy. But all of these penalties stemmed from the initial coaching penalty which doesn't seem to hold weight imo. The coach admitted to coaching, but it seemed more of a habitual coaching like how you instruct any professional players while watching on tv. opinions? thoughts?

      @MisTaFreeZe@MisTaFreeZe5 жыл бұрын
    • two things are for sure: she badgered the umpire and she broke her raquet. whether the coaching shuld be penalized or not, is gray, but the coach admitted it afterwards, so it's not an unfair call. sometimes umpires make bad calls as with any sport--but if you keep badgering him with it then it becomes th eplayer's fault. two wrongs dont make a right. william thinks that badgering the umpire will somehow make it right. it doesn't

    • @@paulatling8844 I’m shocked you misinterpreted my comment that badly. Not once did I say her behavior was acceptable. She acted like a child. I simply said that the verbal abuse call was a petty move on the umpire. She called him a thief because he had ‘stolen’ a point from her by penalizing her. What planet are YOU on that you think being called a thief is verbal abuse?

  • Nothing changes with her. Champions are not just built on trophies but how you conduct yourself when you lose, it's never her fault that's the problem. She acts terrible when it's going against her same with Osaka 9 years later on 2018 she was losing and absolutely lost it mentally.

  • 0:49 What's he talking about?? 'Is that necessary'...???? The question should be 'Was it a foot fault?' The timing of the call is totally irrelevant. Maybe we should just ignore double faults and shots that land outside the court in important points from now on...
