Harden leaving was one of the best things to happen for Maxey it made him take his game to another level
The same way Brunson went to the Knicks to actually show how much of an ELITE player he's always been. Was always being held back by a certain player on his former team.

He does give a lot of credit to Harden as well though for a lot that he taught him so it's not like James was an overall bad deal but he really has stepped up this season and become a true leader on that team.

I feel like with White he just played SIGNIFICANTLY more minutes. AND he was out there with the player that had the most minutes in the NBA (DeRozan)

You have to consider that coby prior to Zach injury was almost averaging the same as last year and that was 1/3 of the season while being the 4th option. He significantly turn up his game this yr being the 3rd option while maxey always was the 2nd option throughout the szn.
Well deserved, Maxey is a class act on and off the court and has a great attitude, dude is always smiling. Great role model.
I absolutely love this kid. He has an energy that radiates from him being both positive and competitive. He works so hard and owns mistakes, even in the face of difficult odds. I am so happy for him.
The way he talked about the 76ers last game shows incredible maturity for a young man. Tyrese Maxey will be a champion one day.

Man hold on to this dude Philly as he seems like a real leader and a good guy. Didn't try to shy away from the loss or blame it on outside factors, owned up to it and said how he could've done more and how he could do better next time. Such a winners mindset of always looking to improve, hope he goes far in the league.

What I love with Tyrese Maxey, He does not have that Grim on the face or does not look like a WWE fighter at every single action. I love his smile, his energy and his joy of playing Basketball. Glad for him, well deserved

I'm not a Philly fan but props to Maxey as like the only guy on the Sixers when asked about missed calls and his answer is about what they didn't do to win the game regardless. Also, that 2 minute report states that they missed a call for Embiid fouling Donte before that whole sequence, which if called could have changed the whole game as well. Sometimes that's just how things go. The trick is trying to play well enough that the game isn't close enough to have one or two calls change the whole outcome. And if the Sixers just boxed out they could have gotten a rebound off of that a first Donte miss, and even after that they still got two looks to try and go up by one or tie it.
i like Max answer, instead of dwelling too much unlike LeCry baby from the otherside.. He is looking forward on the next game.

Probably already knew. Most award shows, hollywood oscars etc. they alert the winners in advanced. Maybe the TNT crew didn't know but Maxley probably was alerted
Pretty sure he was told a few hours before this show started so he could do this interview. It doesnt always have to be live, it's a regular season award, doesn't have to be announced on the spot for the players
@@DannyP-dm1pw The Oscars do not alert the winners in advance. The Academy hires a third party company to handle the votes and no one knows until the envelop is opened on stage. That's why there was chaos when people thought La La Land won Best Picture a few years ago or when the entire ceremony was scheduled around doing Best Actor last because they expected Chadwick Boseman to win for Ma Rainey shortly after his death but he ended up losing to Anthony Hopkins who didn't even bother to fly over to the US.

@@gabrieldodds9081Coby white was surrounded by veterans who can actually play well (Derozan, Lavine, Vuc) Maxey and Sengun had to be the #1 option for the team which they had too carry heavy load and sengun wasn’t even supposed to be starting but they failed to get brook lopez so he got the starting spot.
@@AkagiRedSunthat’s how we all know you don’t watch games. Lavine is out basically the whole season. Vuc has been absolutely terrible.
My guy learn the rules. Sengun doesnt even qualify for the award.
Respect for Maxey for responding maturely to the No-Call at the end of game 2. Didn’t say anything about the refs or making excuses. Just said I have to do better and took the blame when really he shouldn’t have. “Just gotta let it go.” Feel like this should be highlighted more.

Maxey played 3 season's worth of basketball JUST THIS YEAR! It's crazy how much he's grown in just one season, he is about to be a whole entire problem.

I'm sorry didn't Coby white break out in the second half? Wasn't Cam Thomas in this convo at the start? Maxey got it because, he was in the MIP convo all season long, which is why he was an allstar and Coby White wasn't. Coby White did improve a lot, but Maxey was in this race way longer.
His answer when EJ asked about the foul in NY is exactly what you want to hear from a leader. Took full accountability didn't blame refs teammates or coach he was cold at Kentucky has more then stepped up since Harden departed he gonna be one of them ones

Weird for me to say Maxey “Most Improved” because in my mind he’s been elite for the two years before this too. Sure he made big stats jumps with Harden gone…but Maxey BEEN real good. So idk what this award is supposed to be about. Colby White went from nothing to a huge impact, I thought that’s what this award was about, but guess I’m wrong. The voting was v close. Colby White deserves some recognition from the nba community & fans - as of course does Maxey ! They both had great years, even if in very different ways.
Don’t really agree, all of his stat jumps are based on more opportunities rather then better efficiency, seems like he was this good last year, this year has the ball way more

it's ridiculous how low I had to scroll to find his name mentioned here. everyone should've expected sengun/maxey to rise up, absolutely no one would've expected JJ to be so impactful as he was this season. if he was healthy all year he should be top 2 for sure

I’m a bulls fan but they didn’t rob Coby White..Bulls finished with a losing record . We got to get back to value wins and playoffs not a play in . Congrats to Maxey but he was already really good. Last year would have been a better year for him to get this award. The other two had bigger jumps from last year. Either one would have been a better choice imo.
You’re absolutely right about that , I going from a 3/4 option (Tobias Harris ) alternate last year behind harden and embiid . Making that jump to an all star and pretty much leading the Sixers to a playoff birth while embiid was down .. that’s a huge jump .. we knew he was ready though Also we knew colby was capable aswell they both been in the league for awhile .. feel like that’s a 3 years or under award ..
