Attention "spay and neuter brigade": please refrain from leaving comments on this video. It was filmed months ago and serves an educational purpose. No cats became pregnant during or after the filming of this video nor does it condone or encourage irresponsible pet care.
If you think you have a cat in heat and want to know what the symptoms of a cat in heat look like and sound like, please watch this video. All cats are different and symptoms may and will vary from cat to cat. Not all cats are loud and dramatic when in heat. Stella never yowled or cried loudly at all. Her heat lasted about 4-5 days and never became much worse than what you see in this video.

  • I remember when my kitty went into heat for the first time. She started out with those symptoms, but then she started yowling, loudly. It took a few days for her to calm down, then a couple of weeks later, the same thing. Then the yowling came again - I knew I couldn't bear it a third time, so as soon as she was off her cycle, I got her spayed, and that took care of that.

The noises she makes is so different than anything else I've heard from her. she also walks around and puts her butt in my other cats faces (the other cats are spayed). she also will sit and make air biscuits non stop for hours... it looks so frustrating for her but there is nothing we can do.

She’s a-year-old and has already had two letters so we are not going to let her get pregnant. We already made an appointment for next week to get her fixed. I have always had male cats or we’ve gotten our cats fixed right away so I’ve never experienced this until today.

  • She looks and sounds as if she needs to get fixed pronto! She's such a beautiful cat with a snow white tummy! We only have one female cat. She was a month older than we thought when we got her. She started raising her rear end at about 6 months. We thought she was 5 months old. We got her spayed pronto. Of course we had no male to mate her with as they're all neutered although they still tired once in a while, even after she way spayed. It was funny to watch. A cyst her ovary was also discovered when we got her spayed, so that was taken care of, too. 12 years later she's dong fine.

    • Lumi Ari what do you mean "unfortunately" ? it's a natural thing. Is it unfortunate cause your gonna have to wait an extra few days before getting her spayed? That's just an unfortunate lack of patience.

    • Actually you can help her. I'm not a cat person but have seen many educational videos of how to relieve a cat in heat. There's a pressure point by her tail and if push down on it, it will relieve her for a few hours. Look it up.

  • We have only had females sharing our house for over 40 years. Each and every one made noises for at least a week. I don't like the term "rescue" but the 2 we took from shelters were fixed. Our feral Avery was a TNR who had her kittens taken from her. My wife and I wonder if she remembers this event and hated humans because of it.

    • Did you TNR and take her kittens from her or did that happen before you got her?

      @LuckyFerals@LuckyFerals7 жыл бұрын
    • Lucky Ferals No she was already a TNR when she came home with us. We didn't even notice that her ear was clipped for at least a couple of months. She was in the equivalent of a cat concentration camp in New York City. a lady who runs a cat rescue in New Jersey went to New York City and brought her back with her. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think the kittens came with her. That's where she thinks the TNR happened after talking to the lady. Being three years old poor Avery was relegated to the back and nobody wants a cat that age when at least 50 kittens are being shown. They gave us a reduced fee because they said she was special-needs. We really didn't see her for the next four months all she did was hide under furniture or close to the wood burning stove that doesn't work. Neither of us noticed the ear being clipped for at least 10 months to a year. When they mailed us her papers it showed that she had two names and had lived in two states. Sometimes I have a tear in my eye when I look at her, she was that close to death.

    • Does any of your ferals "meow"? Avery never does but one day she shocked me by doing a "squeal" while I was helping my son and she was jealous. I couldn't believe my ears, all that dedication to her was more than paid off at that moment.

  • Are your cats really feral? They’re so friendly. I thought feral cats are difficult to tame and need to live outside.

    • A feral cat is nothing more than a cat that was born in nature and raised in nature by other cats. The only difference between a house cat and a feral cat is their level of training and socialization. I had been interacting with Stella for about 9 months before this video was recorded. I have this channel is to dispel the myths and misinformation that exists about feral cats. :)

  • Seems like you forgot about the "sounds like" part. Lovely cat. It lasts from 3 to 10 days. They can get really loud calling for a mating partner. It's annoying and harmful to cats. They can develop cancerous cysts and it's just not beautiful looking at a cat begging to be banged.

  • I wish that's how my cat was in heat, you couldn't be near her without her yowling or trilling nonstop. You poke her and she would get excitable and trill like her life depended on it, butt propped in the air. Lol. I got her spayed a few days ago, I love her, but I can't say I'll ever miss that episodic nightmare we call 'heat' again.

  • I'm caring for a mom and 2 kittens that live in my yard behind my shed, I feed them everyday and am going to build a few shelters for them, I don't know the sex of the kitties yet but I'm pretty sure at least one is a boy (he's an orange classic tabby) which of course cat lovers know are usually male, not sure about the other one though I want to start staying outside while they eat to get them used to me, hopefully even they get a little older I can get them in a crate to have then fixed

    • That sounds very similar to my experience last year. If you have a chance, please check out some of the early videos on this channel. They might be helpful for you. Definitely spend time just hanging out with them outside so they get used to you and start trusting you. Mama cats are very appreciative of people who help feed them and their kittens. (also very important to give them lots of fresh water but I'm sure you know that already) Also, buy some wand toys and start playing with them, that made a huge difference for me. They came much closer and even let me pet them without running away.

    • Lucky Ferals yea I'm gonna head out and get some materials to build a few shelters, currently they've made their home under my shed, the little orange one seems to be a bit braver, as I can get pretty close to him when putting the food down, I'm glad they found a safe place to sleep because I was really worried about where they were when it was raining/snowing lol I'd like to let them all inside eventually, I literally have an empty apartment downstairs but I think we're a ways from them coming inside just yet, thanks for the input I'll continue working with them and hopefully they'll come around, they always have before so I'm pretty confident that they will eventually 😊
