  • Fascinated by the way you sneak up on the marks, saw cut well away from the line then carefully chisel up to the finish line. Very important, I see now. Thank you.

  • …I never saw a combination square on that bench, BRAVO! Incredible skills accumulated through so many years of building and practice. I just have a question…the tools don’t look like Japanese chisels neither the saw (doesn’t look like a Dozuki, Ryoba or Katana)…the wood used does not look like Hinoki or Keyaki, but more like Mango wood…

  • Great work. Still I have a question: Isn´t that open end of dovetail on second pice weakpoint of whole joint? Seems to me to be easiest part to break, considering wood grain... Left this piece more connected with rest of beam by some sort of plating (not have that dovetail open through whole width of beam) could make it more robust and at the end it could cover that dovetail joint of third piece after final assemby. But just asking.

I can’t do this stuff either, but I need a challenge to take my mind off my health issues. You practice the skills and you be That person to pass it on to someone else. You can do it, it’s wood and metal. If we mess up, try it again on the other end.

  • I settled down for another relaxing Japanese woodworking ASMR experience but no. I turned it down to half speed and he was still working too fast. My anxiety was going nuts - "Slow down! You're going to mess up! Gentle strokes with the saw! You're not trying to start a fire! Oh no!" Good job, though. That was a very interesting joint.

  • I'm still a beginning woodworker so I'm curious; when using a chisel, how do you decide to face the bevel up or down? In other words, against the material or against the waste? And why?

    @MrHantz101@MrHantz1012 жыл бұрын
    • The flat part against the material, so the waste is being removed by the angle

      @mati--mahtee9901@mati--mahtee99012 жыл бұрын
    • @@mati--mahtee9901 Yet I've seen other woodworking videos, including this one, where they use the bevel facing downwards. Watch 6:24, 6:51 and 14:15

      @MrHantz101@MrHantz1012 жыл бұрын
    • The flat on the line for precision. Careful though. The bevel makes the cut dive in the opposite direction. For general work bevel down for control.
