      @jblechan@jblechan4 ай бұрын
    • @@jblechanDefinitely wouldn’t say that was a fluke lol. Huge respect for Ronda but she was the one who tried to box with the ex champion boxer, and she paid the price for it. Also not exactly sure how that’s supposed to expose Holly when that was easily the finest performance of her career and led to her dominating Ronda throughout the entire fight. Ronda was good for her time, but her lackluster striking was most definitely exposed in that fight.

      @loganshaffer9090@loganshaffer90904 ай бұрын
    • @@loganshaffer9090 Holm was a total fluke. She got choked into irrelevance a minute later by the one Ronda crushed twice and never did shit again. But at least you understand that she only won due to Ronda choosing to fight stupid and not because fluke holm is some world beater. Holly never has "fine performances" unless who she fights fights stupid. Ronda wasn't good for her. Grapplers are never good for her as we've all seen demonstrated multiple times. Ronda is the only grappler she's ever won against and that was due to Ronda not grappling. We've all seen that happens to holly when that doesn't happen. Ronda has better striking than Holly has choke defense, ground game and submission ability, and that's been exposed a lot. Even after nearly a decade holm still has no choke defense. She just got choked out again. She's a total fluke. Another Buster Douglas never was piece of trash.

      @jblechan@jblechan4 ай бұрын
    • That’s kind of an exaggeration to say that Ronda has better striking than Holly has choke defense because Holly has only been submitted twice. Also the woman who just submitted Holly got that win overturned for testing positive for a banned substance. Also calling Holly a never was piece of trash is just plain ridiculous. She was a terrific champion in boxing and a national amateur champion in kickboxing. Furthermore, she was a pretty decent mma fighter, she beat fighters like Irene Aldana who ranked #5 in the UFC women's bantamweight rankings and #15 in the women’s pfp rankings, Raquel Pennington who is currently ranked #2 in the UFC women’s bantamweight rankings and #12 in the UFC women's pound-for-pound rankings, and beat Yana Santos who was ranked #8 in the women’s bantamweight division. So it’s not like she’s been beating bums, she’s been beating people who are in the top ten and in the top 15 pfp list. To say she’s a piece of trash is purely delusional and just a plain bias for Ronda. If your going to give your props to Ronda than you have to give your props to Holly as well. Since she has made her own contributions to women’s combat sports and more than likely brought even more attention to mma itself(especially women’s mma)after her upset victory over Ronda. TLDR: Both Ronda and Holly Holm both deserve their own respect for what they brought to the sport.

  • A lot of people call Ronda a hype job and say "she got exposed". She didn't get exposed. Everyone except the casuals knew from her first fight that her stand-up sucked. But it wasn't rare to be a specialist at that time. Ronda told every girl she fought that she was going to take them down and break their arm. The girls focused on arm-bar defense their whole camp. They knew exactly what Ronda was going to do and still couldn't stop it. Even the Holly Holm fight just about every fight expert including Big John said it was an easy fight for Ronda if she took down the boxer but if she tried to box with her Ronda was going to get beat. Holly wasn't great and was one dimensional but Jackson had been training Hold to beat Ronda since the first time Holly switched to MMA. They had been working on the Ronda gameplan since Holly's debut. Ronda should have done Misha Tates gameplan and she would have beat Holly. Ronda was never going to beat Nunes she was too big, too strong, too well rounded. But that's not saying much since once Nunes got the belt no one except for the Juliana beat her. Nunes destroyed Misha, Holly and Cyborg.

She couldn't physically bully Holm like her other opponents, because unlike Rousey previous opponents who were smaller than Ronda (there was only the 135 weight class at the time) Holm fought her whole boxing career at 147 lbs. She was bigger, stronger than Rousey and she was used to fighting bigger and stronger opponents. It was very clear early on the strength difference between the 2.

  • I was at UFC 157 and seen first hand Ronda Rousey vs Liz Carmouche. It was known has Honda (Brazilian pronunciation of the letter R) in the Honda (Center). Hendo vs Machida was not the fight we all thought it would be and the crowd was not as hyped as they "could" have been prior to these female warriors taking the center of the Octagon for the first ever woman's fight, let alone a title fight, in the UFC. The moment they walked out the crowd changed and it was deafening in there. When Liz took Ronda's back like that, everyone lost their fucking minds and starting thinking was this really happening in front of our eyes? Liz was a badass Marine after all, and that means she is at least proficient in making people room temperature with her bare hands, let us say. Then Ronda got her off her back and the rest is history. It was amazing to see and many grown ass men were crying in the crowd. I am and will forever be honored to have witnessed this little piece of history!

Like, you can be an extremely confident person and a world champion athlete, without taking every opportunity possible to point out how amazing you are, how sexy and attractive you are, etc. And just the ignorant talk and swearing too. • @@jblechan actually I played on the Canadian Under 18 Hockey Team, was drafted underage in the 2nd round of the OHL draft, have attended numerous National level hockey training camps, so ya I know about elite athletes And what I wrote has absolutely nothing to do with how she thinks about herself. It’s about having the decorum to not brag and boast about it constantly. It’s called having some class. Obviously something you don’t comprehend Obviously every elite athlete believes in themselves to an extreme degree. And if Ronda was so “happy about it” she wouldn’t need to search for constant validation by boasting and fishing for the agreement and praise of those around

"class" is the nothing peoples' way of saying think less of yourself and say what I want to hear in order for me to like you. Obviously that's not something you comprehend. she doesn't owe you anything. It's not searching for validation. it's the exact opposite. if she wanted "validation"" from you she would be kissing your ass and saying how much you mean to her. she couldn't give a shit about the agreement and praise of those around, let alone you which is why she's not afraid to be open about this.

I never in my entire life watched or even had a fleeting thought about women's boxing, basketball, softball... nothing But i watch every women's ufc fight, i know the records and styles of every top 10 female in every weight class. If cyborg fights in whatever backwoods podunk promotion , im watching that beat down. Ill never forget when nunes papped cyborg up and finished her. Or when she beat rhonda up . When schevchenko flatlined eye. All the chick's Andrade has smacked up. Roses journey was epic. The way she baptized joanna after all the bullying All that stuff is in part , due to rhonda and how she made the sport for women.. she inspired so many women, and leveled up women's mma.

  • I dig Ronda, but the intro was a bunch of wu wu. "You can choose to be happy anywhere. It's not your environment, it's your mindset." All i could think of is Ronda's friend, telling some kid in Gaza or Kharkiv, "Hey little one, you shouldn't let the bombings and mass slaughter, get you down, because it's all about your perspective, not your surroundings. You seem to have a negative outlook when it comes to death and destruction. Don't worry, be happy." Then he smiles at the kid and whistles, "Always Look on the Brightside of Life", by Monty Python. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
