  • When I was 16 I found his managers contact info and emailed him explaining how I was a huge fan asking for an autograph and even wrote a comedy parody book report where Kimbo was the main character. Maybe two weeks to a month later, a large envelope came from a Miami P.O. Box with an 8 1/2 * 11 picture of him posing with his fists up autographed in gray sharpie. It just shows how much of a real dude he was to his fans, the postage was around 9 bucks.

  • I remember seeing him fight on KZhead when i was in 7th grade; i was enthralled. This big, vicious brute of a man. He was almost terrifying but so much fun to watch. I would literally watch his fights on KZhead with my younger brother, just to crap ourselves watching how badly he would knock people out. So around 2011 i commented something on an MMA forum about how I didn't find him to be particularly skilled in mixed martial arts & didnt think he'd have too much success. Basically, the way i was saying it i was talking shit about him as a 19 almost 20 year old college kid. Kimbo Slice, HIS DAMN SELF, commented on what i said. "Its like a different sport than im used to but as long as God allows me, I'll get better. We're not the best yet but we're trying to be " Wrote it down and never forgot it.

From his loyalty to and consideration of his friends, as well as, the dedication he showed to his family, the irony is in the fact that the vast majority of people who didn’t know him expected him to be some sort of ruthless monster because of his fighting style coupled with his hardcore physical presentation. “Some lebel of morls”? • Me and one of my buddies met Kimbo at a Belator event not too long before he passed away and he was nothing but respectful and friendly. He was as real a it gets and when I told him I was a Jr black belt in Tae Kwon Do his response was "oh so you're a kicker huh" and I said yes and he was like "I know for a fact you could out kick me" and I was maybe 140 pounds at the time and I couldn't believe how pure he was for a dude growing up brawling in the streets of miami. When he passed away I cried like a baby because of how friendly and just pure he was with me and my buddy, two random 20 year Olds. Rip Kimbo. Thank you for being the way you were. They say you had a large heart, and that's 100 percent the truth.
