  • what you need to know is in china, all imported cars are slapped with a variety of taxes. so the $100k chinese made car in this video is probably competing with a $70k car in japan/germany/america that sells for 100k+ in china. so all things considered, these cars are very competitive. sure the taxes are a case of economic protectionism. but every country does that, america and its infamous "buy america act" for example.

It's much lower to the ground allowing a disabled person to get in and out since some of us have problems stepping up and pulling ourselves in. I wish there were more vehicles like this here for us who don't go very far or travel much besides going to the store and doing things around the house. Having the dump bed would be great for us who have a fireplace and have to get firewood. It's a really cool truck. Thank you for showing it and letting us see other vehicles that are out there.

  • Well as a car designer working in China, I have to say the the copywrite rules are the same here and you can't just rip off from others without consequences. We all know that JLR sued Landwind for the design of the Evoque and won. As for the cars on the list, only the Hongqi E-HS9 and Audi A8L Horch is available as of now and you can actually see them driving on the streets. The Hongqi L5 and Warrior M50 is not exactly available to the general public yet, the Qiantu brand did sold some of their cars but they already went bankrupt years ago, and the rest are either still prototypes or concept cars.

    @izzo2271@izzo227111 ай бұрын
    • Jeremiah only did the briefest of research on these cars, but the Yangwang pair do pack some pretty unique tech. The U9's DiSus suspension, for instance, allows for the car to drive at highway speeds completely level while missing one front wheel. It is also strong enough to allow the car to jump vertically (all four wheels) off the ground. The U8 can do a "tank turn" while standing still because all 4 wheels have their own motors. The U8 also has a snorkel because it is water proof and is designed to actually float in water despite its weight. So in an emergency if you tried to ford water which is too deep, the U8 will float in the water, and can turn the wheels at optimal speeds to let you drive yourself out of the water back onto land. And the snorkel itself is for a small gas engine carried onboard the car, which can be used as a range extender if the main battery runs out of juice.

For instance the E-HS9 sells surprising well in EV loving Norway, partly because it isn't as expensive as this video claims. Base trim version recently started at as low as $63k USD in Norway, for instance.

    • @@tren133 good thing I dont live in USA, then. Like, the absolute biggest problem with Chinese cars is that outside of China, nobody services them. If there were at least a few workshops for Chinese cars in every country, Chinese car adoption would go off the charts. Now, there's like one China shop per per 3-4 countries, and if you want your car serviced, it takes so much time and money, it's not even worth it, unless car was brand new and you're a millionaire.

    • @@jafhu There is enough range and fast enough charging for it to still be a good deal, or else why would a bunch of Norwegians still buy this car? There are very few full size proper 3 row SUVs which are fully electric, and the Hongqi is quite luxurious inside too, especially for its price. Hence even with subpar efficiency, and a brand that is entirely unknown in western Europe, it is nonetheless still finding a steady stream of buyers.
