On a rainy night in Happy Valley the second ranked Buckeyes took on Penn State. In a game filled with errors Ohio State was bale to take an early lead. Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley were able to help push the offense forward. Late in the fourth quarter Grant Haley returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown. The unranked Nittany Lions defeated Ohio State 24-21. McSorley finished 8-23 for 154 yards and a touchdown.

From what I remember this team's D Line was good, not great, just a solid good, their linebacker unit was great imo, but damn their secondary was atrocious 😂😂 when USC vs Penn State was announced I knew it would be a shootout because we were a lot like them, not a very good secondary but a QB and weapons who could tear secondaries up. • It was a missed call for sure. I love how Fowler and herbstreit don’t mention the blatant and obvious pass interference. Fowler hates Ohio state and jabs at us all the time. “It was very close” BS it was blatant pass interference you moron. Missed calls happen. We don’t truly know if he would have caught the pass or not. If he does it likely changes the outcome. Really it was a good play by the defender from a strategy angle. If he doesn’t interfere it’s likely a huge gain and basically at minimum a field goal attempt to tie. If it gets called pass interference it’s 15 and a first down. There wasn’t an eternity of time left so that wouldn’t have hurt Penn state that much either. However Ohio state made the playoff in 2016 with this being their only loss so the loss really helped Penn state and the big ten conference as a whole more than it hurt Ohio state.

  • Watching Barrett make that play at the 5:00 minute mark just shows what he was capable of doing. If only he made better throws and decisions he would have been a Heisman winner for sure. He did very well the year the won the title and the year after that, but he seemed to degress after that. Too bad Penn State wasn't invited to the playoffs. They deserved it. They would have given Clemson a better game than OSU did. I think Franklin would have had a good game plan.

I woke up Christmas morning and it was a shiny blue PSU started jacket under the tree. We from Philly but moved to NJ. Ever since then I was a PSU fan. They beat Miami in the Fiesta Bowl a couple days later. Even when I watch them play years later at 49 yrs old, I temporarily envy that I never wore that uniform.
