The Sounds of Space: A sonic adventure to other worlds

A collaboration with the podcast Twenty Thousand Hertz: 20k.org
Soundtrack: melodysheep.bandcamp.com/albu... | Space is more than just a feast for the eyes. It’s a feast for the ears. You just have to know where -- and when -- to look.
Floating in the silent void of space are trillions of islands of sound, each with their own sonic flavor -- some eerily familiar, some wildly different than Earth’s. And even space itself was once brimming with sound.
This short film takes you on a journey back in time and to the edge of our solar system and beyond, to discover what other worlds of sound are lurking beyond Earth's atmosphere. You won't believe your ears :)

  • I collabed with one of my favorite podcasts, Twenty Thousand Hertz, to make this short film adapted from their episode on space. I've linked to the sounds directly in the description if you were distracted by the music or VO. my bad! Enjoy the ride my friends. Any questions for me?

    • @@adiyn_ there could be a species that breathes a gas that isn't common on Earth, and so they would suffocate in Earth's atmosphere. Or perhaps they evolved in a different atmospheric pressure, and wouldn't function on Earth. There are plenty of ways Earth could be hell for alien life. Another one featured in Mass Effect, depending on how life works on their planet, all plants and animals on Earth might be toxic for them to eat.

  • I just absolutely LOVE melodysheep's videos, they really convey the wonders of the universe, they tell us our own role in the grand scheme of things and most of all, they look and sound absolutely fascinating. We only understand about 5% of the universe but those 5% are already amazing, terrifying, interesting, jaw-dropping and wonderful. Thank you for all your hard work making these videos and even more, for sharing them with us!

      @connycontainer9459@connycontainer9459 Жыл бұрын
    • @@connycontainer9459 5% of the universe is visible matter, i.e. stuff made of the particles we know, the Standard Model. Then there is dark matter, we have no idea what it is made of, but we know it interacts via gravity and about 3/4 of the universe is Dark Energy, which is responsible for the accelerated expansion of the universe. Right now we don't even have the slightest idea what that really is. It's common knowledge that we only understand a tiny fraction of the universe and "traditional matter" (i.e. stuff we understand) only makes about 5-6% of everything there is.

  • I'd like to imagine that one day when technology is so advanced that people can easily travel between the planets that there will be musicians purposefully making music on a certain planet for a certain sound. It's nice to think that maybe one day "mars" and "jupiter" will be genres of music.
