    • As a is350 f-sport owner, the gauge cluster is a screen.

      @IntelCoreI77700K@IntelCoreI77700K2 жыл бұрын
    • I wonder if the future will see a return of more tactile controls. A lot of what I see coming out now seems flashy and cool, but in the end is neither as reliable nor as easy to use as tactile controls like shift levers, climate control knobs etc. When I'm driving and want to turn my fan speed up, I can do it without looking away from the road or taking my hand off the shifter, because it's a big knob right near my hand when it's on the shifter. I can just feel where it is. You can't say the same about almost any modern climate control, including the one in this car, because there's so little tactile feedback. You can't tell if you have your hand in the right place, and when you're driving, all of this is a real safety concern. People staring at a touch screen for 30secs to find the volume or looking down at a centre console to locate a climate slider thingy is a little concerning. So eventually, I think manufacturers will realise this and bring a lot of old school controls back. I notice Doug reviewed a couple of new cars that have moved the climate controls out of the touchscreen and back onto the centre console, and I think this trend will continue.

  • The IS's interior has aged well. Everything is properly positioned and very convenient to use. True, they could've ditched the touch-pad in favor of a wireless charging pad... but that's kind of a non issue for me. I've driven cars with wireless chargers and never really used them. I tend to keep a factory charge cable handy for Android Auto use anyways, and the phone obviously gets charged when/if it's plugged in. Plus... this new IS has a touch screen, which Doug failed to mention. Sidenote: As lovely as this V8 sounds, it's a shame he didn't really investigate this vehicle much. He should've known that the little dial on the left side with the driver's controls (360 camera, blind spot warning, etc) is actually a volume control for the piped in sound - so you can dial the artificial sound up or down/off.

It’s just a V8 and it’s porky which is gonna affect overall performance. As for “value” for an isf to be worth as much as an M3 or AMG of that Era it would have to be one that’s clean all original super low mile bone stock not riced out. To cost more it would have to be compared to an M3 or AMG with higher miles. Go look at a 2008 CLK 63 black series and what it commands there’s not an isf on planet that will ever cost that much even if you found an isf with zero miles. Lexus is just an entry level brand and truth be told they do copy and imitate the better German brands, the logic lexus fans use is equivalent to someone saying a knock off Louis Vuitton hand should cost more than the real thing. I think that’s what Hiro was alluding to, not necessarily bashing lexus because he’s made good comments on it before.

  • Just correcting some statements made by Doug so that there isn’t anymore added confusion about this car than there already is… 1. Lexus considers this a 4th gen redesign. It is not a facelift. Although the platform for this car is shared w/ the 3rd gen that was sold from 2014-2020, the body of the 2021+ is completely new. No panel is the same. 2. This is not supposed to be an M3 competitor. The German compact sport sedans of that category are now pushing over 500+hp. Lexus has already stated that this is an S4, M340i, C43 AMG competitor. He says that @ first but then goes back to comparing it to an M3. 3. The rear sunshade is for infants in rear facing seats because the roof line & rear window are @ such a low angle. 4. If you put the transmission in (M)anual and Sport+ it is fast. Those conditions have to be met in order for it to shift quickly as intended. It is programmed to have a shift delay in (D)rive under power. It is also programmed to be a little clunky and give you that shift shock to give it the feel of a sequential manual transmission. This exact transmission is the reason why most manufacturers are going from DCT back to Auto trans.

  • I agree with what he says about the transmission, my parents have a ‘15 GS350 that I drive from time to time. The tranny really limits its ability, it hangs gears a bit too long and the paddle shifting is more of a recommendation. I know they want to make their cars as smooth as possible but I would personally like speed and punch vs super smooth.
