light car + decent engine = major fun
Good handling helps too, but yeah it's hard to go wrong. Brakes don't need to be amazing as small cars can cut corners and the low weight gives more grip.

A good reason to suggest a Suzuki is that they are the most honest automotive buy you can have. No bullshit, you 're getting what you pay for and maybe a bit more than you expect
More reasons: Great fuel economy, light weight, good value, a 90 hp 4-cylinder for the price of the 70hp 3-cylinder competition.
Yes. I noticed that they use the best quality key mechanical components ,while cutting back on superficial aspects such as plastics .
Except when they say hybrid on the back!

134hp only makes a difference on straight roads. On roundabouts and tight roads the S/Sport is very quick thanks to low weight and sublime, consistent agility. You can get them into 4-wheel drifts, or use the mobile rear to help steer the front. The other benefit is they are incredibly well engineered being able to take serious track abuse right out of the box. 11/10.
I had one with a flow tested and optimised stainless steel exhaust and otherwise stock. it was an amazing little car, good handling, fun handling, just asking to be used and abused and still very economical to drive. I drove mine like an absulute idiot for way too much of the time I owned it and it still produced some pretty decent fuel economy. the only gripes I had with mine is that I don't like the look of it, it is too tall in my opinion, the gear lever is too far forward and I couldn't move the steering wheel far enough back to my liking. other than that am I not able to find any faults with it. I wouldn't buy another one tho cause I love my Volvo C30 T5 more than I loved my Swift Sport. the styling is in my opinionn worlds better, the power difference is insane (mine is tuned to 300 wheel horses, so somewhere between 350 and 400 at the crank), the feel of the interior is signifficantly better in the C30 and the seating position is worlds better to how I want to sit. only negative is the signifficantly worse fuel economy. but I still look back at the time with the Swift Sport as a really good time from a driving perspective and I whole heartedly recommend people to go out and try one when they are looking for a car in that size bracket because of how brilliant they really are

I bought one of these new right at the end of production before the turbo model came out - reason being I wanted something I could chuck around and have fun with at sensible speeds. I also have a bike engined kitcar that does 60 in 3 seconds and I can have just as much fun in the Swift, its not very powerful but it is powerful enough to have fun the right side of being legal. Its a case of been there and done that with faster cars and came to the conclusion that in the real world feeling like you're going fast is more important than the number on the speedo, especially if you want to keep your licence clean. Overall, very happy with the decision and it's just starting to loosen up nicely at around 9000 miles.
...because it is lightweight, N/A, modifyable and amazing weight distribution... it almost handles RWD if you lift off shortly

@@grimsanchez5928 Pretty sure he is talking about load change oversteer...when you are driving a long turn pretty fast and on the edge of understeering you can lift the throttle very quickly and you will experience oversteer. But please don’t try it out on the road if you are not familiar with such a car behavior. Try to learn to drive your car on a closed track like I did it pretty often. I drive it for almost 7 years now and let me describe the relationship with it like this...”we’ll know each other pretty well.”
@@grimsanchez5928 yep, like @bulleck said if u lift the throttle on a fast corner the back of the car keeps going and the oversteer kicks in, is useful when you are really pushing the car to the limit, but is quite dangerous if u don't expect it and u don't have the reaction time to go back on the gas (i own a 125hp model and u can really make her dance around corners with the right amount of experience)
@@bulleck only have owned RWD cars, and one was mid engined...so I only know oversteer...
@@fortheloveofnoise9298 actually all cars are designed to understeer…no matter where the engine is located or if it is RWD/FWD/AWD. Understeering is safe because ordinary drivers can handle a slippy front way better than a slippy rear. The RWD oversteering behavior most people refer to is actually power oversteering, e.g. if you have a decent amount of power you can force the tires to loose grip and therefore the car to oversteer. Mid-engined car have their center of mass in the middle of the car with pretty light front and rear ends so they turn in quite lively…no matter if it is due to power oversteering or oversteering due to a change in load as described above with the Suzuki.
I bought one of these new in 2016, then replaced it in 2018 with the new turbo Swift Sport. I still have both, and both cars are tremendously good. The handling is epic and laugh out loud fun. Absolutely agree with the 'likewayt' comment. These cars sport very neutral handling. Balancing a 4-wheel drift on the edge of grip is an absolute riot. Such composure. You've got to be really stupid to crash one of these. Competition? ...yes, a Fiesta ST is quicker and with a more precise chassis. But more precision can also mean less fun. The beauty of the Swift Sport is that you can enjoy the flamboyance of the chassis comfortably at low to middling speeds. A more precise car requires higher speeds to get into the 'fun zone'. That is not always easy to achieve safely. Yes, they are not super quick cars (although the turbo variant is pretty damn quick for a 1.4!), but the focus of the Swift Sport is all about great accessible fun at sane speeds. If you want a fun, well built car at good value. The Swift Sport hits the spot. Great car!
Although I must admit that the low weight in combination with the high revving engine and that short transmission ratio helps you pretty formidable at traffic light sprints. 😉 At least talking old SSS. 0-50kph is were this car can shine acceleration wise. But yeah....the handling is bonkers. Hopefully my NZ Sport will stay with me for plenty more years.
MrZekToR I bought one too! Epic when u ride nice mountain pass, and you’re right about the Turbo, sometimes it’s too powerful, you gotta know how to use the throttle! She also handles heel and toe downshifts pretty well! Can’t wait to take it on the trace!
And with the fiesta you would eventually spend more time in the garage than on the road.
This car is so underrated! Much like the Mazda 2 sport. No Turbo all natural. Lightweight cars that feel way faster than they are. Top review and reviewed on proper roads!

i've had my 2015 suzuki swift sport for about 6 weeks now. it's my first car and i'm loving it.
I've had mine for a year now and I love it. It's used for daily driving / commuting and does a sterling job at that. I regularly see over 50mpg on my way to and from work, the 6th gear is very welcome. Being a 2014 model, mine came with the built in Garmin Nav / infotainment system, voice command etc. It hasn't even done 10,000 miles yet and I can see me keeping it for many years. Oh, and the keyless entry is fine once you realise how to use it; approach the driver's door and either press the door button once (driver's door only) or twice for all doors. Same if you unlock it from the passenger door or boot. Simple really.
I’ll explain a bit. I only had the car for about 2 weeks as of filming and come from a Toyota keyless system which I think works better and has taken adjustment to the new swift. That being said the keyless is my only gripe. The rest is perfect. Since this I’ve got more used to the system but it still flummoxes me from time to time. Verdict: I still love the car.

Well I tried an FN2 type R. Engine’s fun and it felt like an elephant in comparison.

The Suzuki Swift Sport a reliable little car outlast any European car or you will not be going to the mechanic with any issues only to get it serviced
I've this car modded and it's a lot of fun. Old school revvy engine, light weight, nice shifter and steering, cool looks lowered, dope sound with aftermarket muffler and very good gas mileage. Less is more!
I own the same car, but no mods yet. Which muffler are you running and which suspension for lowering?

@@nikb6528 Remus, not too loud and no drone on the highway. AP coilovers are pretty basic but for the street are fine, a bit harsh with great body control

@@nikb6528 If you change all the system, it will sound ricer, drone like crazy, and pretty bad like hondas. It's a bit too much (for me). I used the eibach with bilstein shocks in my past car and it's good, but a bit soft and a bit too high on fwd cars. If you like going fast on mountain roads you'll find the limit of the eibach sooner than coilovers
Loved the video, for donkeys I've wanted to offer my Swift Sport (2013 but 5 door) but I've lived slightly too far away. So pleased to see this pop up! The 5 doors transforms its usability, I regularly chuck stuff on the rear seats in place of the boot. I took 4 adults over 6 foot from Amsterdam to Berlin in mine haha was comfy for all and averaged 45+mpg! Handling is hilarious and sublime when you take it on track, so adjustable and likes a little drift! Great review!
Agree its a smashing car - my wife was very sad to have to sell ours. There are a couple of negatives. The trip computer is a big fat liar about fuel consumption - we often saw low to mid forties - but measured brim to brim was only actually mid to high thirties. As James says it doesn't really want to go to the red line - even though peak power is quoted as being at 6900 if my memory serves me right. And the gearchange tends to get clunky (though it remains slick) with age - I know of 3 cars that have suffered in that way. Not sure if there is an easy fix.
@@johnclucas1523 it's interesting you should say that about it not wanting to rev to the redline, I have the mk1 swift sport with the same engine and it really loves to rev upto 6900 but then doesn't really want to do the final 300rpm to the redline. Very strange.
Owned a 2012 swift too, I must say the engine and handling is just perfect and I love how it drove on twisty roads. Also gets good fuel economy too. Service parts are very affordable. Just disappointed with mine, my rack and pinion had a problem after about a year of owning the car and warranty wouldn't want to replace it. Mine was an automatic and I should have got a manual instead, it fails to shift after more than a year of owning and took time to repair.
I hv wish to get one for ages, The last five years I have been a big SUZUKI fan . I have the latiest Jimny, after watching this video I m now opening my eyes wide for a low milage 2nd hand one
I love mine, it's done over 120k miles and mechanically its as good as the day I bought it. Have a tear on the drivers seat bolster, which is common, but it still puts a massive grin on my face every time I take it on a twisty A or B road, revelling in the fact I'lll keep my wing mirrors afterwards 😀
I had an old M reg 1.3 swift and it was a rocket. Loved it. Great fun lol
I'm a Swift (not a Sport though :( ) owner and it is indeed a fun car. At first I experienced it to be a bit underpowerd and sluggish, but as I got more comfortable with it's nature to understeer and learned how to get the rear to stick out some more to get a good oversteer on the dirtroad curves, as I started to find out the power was up at the 4500-5500 RPMs, and it was all fun from there! On the drawbacks, it has small fuel and wiperfluid tanks, the keyless works 100% but if you even think of having the key outside of the car while it running, it goes blaring at you, or sometimes even if you have the keys thrown upon the dashboard.
I’m very tempted to buy one of these as my first car. The fact it’s so cheap to insure, without dreaded black box, is heavily appealing

I bought a 65 plate one. Gave up my Kia soul and bought one. It's a great little drive on the twisty stuff. That engine has a great range between 2-6.5k... Nice piece of kit
Glad you got to review one of these, very likeable cars and a great sounding revvy N/A 1.6. The good thing with the Swift Sport across all generations is that they always come very well appointed. There's no need to seek out the options - all you need to pick is the colour and number of doors (though the new one only comes as a 5 door), the rest of it comes as standard.
And whatever it is 4x4 or not. In my country almost every engine is a 1,3 litters.
Great review there sir, honest and real! Sadly we don't get the swift sport here in India and we only get the swift! My dad brought one in 2013 but then it sat to the pavement for about 3 years. In 2017 I took it upon myself to bring her back to her prime. Replacing all the wear and tear parts,slapping on good Yokohama rubber, Cobra Lowering springs,stiffened dampers,a 4-2-1 header and an exhaust completely changed the character from a daily commuter to a quick zippy hatch that brings joy every time I fling it onto a corner,with a hint of over steer of course . At the end I realized that power in useless without decent to good handling and that made me a better driver!

You remind me Henry Catchpole and his £1k Clio 182 that he also uses to cleanse his automotive palette. I always remember Tiff's review of the Swift Sport, he also loved it. Pretty reliable car too, I hear.
These are amazing little cars, they never fail to put a little smile on your face, they handle great. 70mph on a backroad feels like 100 odd in These little things and if you get them re mapped they Rev out a bit better but stock they seem to die off at about 6.5k revs

No comment on the amazing standard spec of these cars, I mean what other car cam with xenons, electric fold mirrors, cruise, climate, Bluetooth and on later ones sat nav as standard........ and not one mention of the fact that the engine is bulletproof , when my brother was manager of Rent4Ring they had a an over rev on a car that resulted in 10300rpm and when stripped down the engine was fine. Also no mention of the fact the swift is mostly famous due to the ring and the amount of rental ones out there. The mk2 swift sport is ana amazing car

I have a 2008 4 door swift with the less powerful 1.5 vvt engine, but it really is just as much fun as proper hot hatches I have owned with over 200bhp, because its only just over 1000kg it feels so light, braking is incredible and corners are hilarious. I was really taken aback by how much fun the swift was, I didn't go looking for one though, I wanted a small hatchback and there happened to be one in the dealer that caught my eye, I thought I would take it for a spin and 30 minutes later I was grinning like a fool and handing over my cash!
I have an SZ3 and lookin to upgrade to a sport.. Feckin love the swift 👌
It won all the plaudits when it first came out. I remember Tiff Needell thrashing it around Anglesey and absolutely raving about it.
I had a red 1st generation Swift Sport which was amazing fun. quiet roundabouts became go kart tracks for lift off oversteer. I loved the power band once it got above 4.5k. I prefer the looks of my one over this but I’d have killed for a 6th gear in mine- so noisy at motorway speed!
The best car I've ever owned. Certainly the best gear change. It was replaced by an Audi 2.0T convertible and I purposely wanted something the polar opposite so I wouldn't try to compare. It still felt like a kick in the nuts having gone from a scalpel of a car to a lump hammer. I never tired of going to 6,900rpm for the peak power and some of the exploits I got up to in it (some didn't involve driving) will always stay with me. A car full of lads in a Fiesta ST150 can't keep up with one through the twisties, I can attest.
Great video! Try get a hold of a Fiesta s1600, the other rival to the twingo/swift sport.
Had my 16 plate over a year now and i love it. Sticks to the road like a limpet. I can give larger cars a run for there money on twisty back roads.
I've got the 2007 model and I must say it's a fantastic little 🚗 and recommend it very highly
I have a Champion yellow 2015 ,best car I have ever owned . My friends are always amazed when I take them for a drive ,very balanced all round car.

why i love my swift sport ? its done 190,000 miles ....yes 190,000 and it is still going 2008 zc31s great little car i cannot recommend enough
I just bought a 2007 Sport with 135.000 kilometres and i thought it's a lot! I glad to hear that the little rocket is still strong at 190.000 miles which is around 300.000 kilometres!
SpyrosJDM 135000km is not a lot mate. I bought my car with the same mileage and haven’t had any problems. My girlfriend bought a swift 4x4 with 140000km and it works like a dream and feels new.
SpyrosJDM but then it depends on the car. If you get a German car you need to do some major research to not get a broken down car within 2 weeks with 130000+ Km. Japanese cars aren’t nearly as faulty

You ask for suggestions on different cars to try out, so how about an old Nissan Almera of either series one or two. I have owned one of each and I really regret selling my old 55 plate 3 door 1.5 s. Very underrated I always thought.
I love this car. I've owned it nearly a year and it's been fantastic.
Reasons for buying swift sport over fiesta st or other rivals as a young driver has to be insurance. Swift sport is only group 19 and can get insured on one for under £2000 as a 18 year old. Whereas an st costs close to £4000 as an 18 year old. Depending on where you live ofcourse. Prices for insurance as a young driver are nutty
I miss my 2006 Swift Sport, shouldn't of sold it really as I let it go for basically nothing and I can honestly see them being a future classic like the 205 gti. Had it for 8 years, so many fun drives.
Great review. I currently have suzuki liana estate 2004 1.6 petrol. The bloody thing will NOT fail, i hoped it wouldnt pass this year m.o.t but it did! With 1 advisory. A ball joint... at 170k miles it still runs like new and pulls very well. But my partner wont let me buy swift sport until my liana as retired 😢but this thing is like a swiss watch.. never stops.

@@syrus1233 yes it is. Now at 184k miles. Got one advisory last year for slight blow rear back box. But i went to the shop in it one night a few weeks ago, i got there ok but got back in the car, but did not start. Got it recovered and tryed it again and it started right up like nothing happened 😂. Did a few hundred more miles init no issue's. I think i found the fault though, i found a corroded connector that leads to the fuel pump which would explain why did not hear the pump prime up when turned the key when it broke down. Sorted it now and i still have it as a spare on my dads yard. My dads wants the car now. My partner made me buy a renault scenic as needed more rear space for a new addition and i hate the scenic.
I own one and I have owned the previous generation. If you want outright 'sportiness' imho the previous generation is better however this generation in the vid is a lot more refined on motorways and in general
Bought this pocket rocket about two months ago and it sure is a fun little thing. It deserves a better/louder exhaust than standard, though.
And a bit more displacement for more torque.

Meh, I like the fact you need to keep it above 4000rpm to let it breathe. Also, the economy is significantly better (easily at 7L or less per 100km) than in the 2L cars such as Clio RS etc
@@nikb6528 a 1.8 with the power up top would have been the best. Even if those engines do not rev that high. For economy, it is to be discussed wether the slightly bigger displacement would really hurt it. There are many cases where bigger engines would consume less fuel, due to the fact that you don't need to press the gas pedal much for it to get going.

If you can keep the car's momentum up, 130bhp is all you need! I was very interested in this as my first car so it's good to see its a well made and fun to drive! Also that's probably my favourite intro right now 😂
... But. You can't on a curvy road. My motorcycle does just under 6 seconds 0-100 and on a very tight curvy road it is fun, but additional 10 to 20 hp(got58) would be welcome. This does 9.... There's alot of room. Not saying it's not fun. Riding restricted with 34hp was fun too. But. Less
I have the grandaddy Ignis sport. Only 110 bhp but only 945kg. Had it for 6 years now and is bags of fun while costing peanuts to run which is great for a daily drive.

I have a 2007 Swift Sport and my friend has an Ignis Sport. We haven't raced yet but i wouldn't be surprised if the Ignis was faster in a straight line due to lower weight. The Ignis is a pocket rocket and it goes very fast for 110hp.
I love my swift sport it's the most all round car I had, I upgraded from an FN2 Type R to the Swift and it's the best decision ever. Slightly bemused at how some commenters are getting 45+ mpg however!
Samuel Middleton I'll tell you how. My commute is 28 miles to work and I set off at 5:30am. Out of that 28 miles, 20 is an empty dual carriageway. Now, I'm in no rush to get to work, so I just set the cruise to 60mph, have the climate control in auto at 22C, some chilled out tunes on the Bluetooth and a coffee on the go. I nearly always get 50mpg on the readout, best ever was 58.9 straight after a service (fresh oil). I know the fuel economy computer can be a bit optimistic at times so I did it the old fashioned way a few times (brim to brim) and it is about 2.5 - 3mpg over reading. So my commute is nearly always 47+mpg. Strong headwinds, rain and adverse weather have a big impact, the worst I've seen on my commute was around 37mpg. At the end of the day, it's a cheap to run, reliable little car that's bags of fun. Cheers 🍻

Trust me I’ve owned one for a year, had more fun in this than I have in my Clio 172 and my mk4 golf Gti (I know they were the shittest)
I am 40 and drive that thing for almost 7 years now...and i easily get the same amount of fun out of it as I get out of my Porsche.

Even my 1,2 94 HP 2015 feel sporty to me, it's not fast on highway, but on twisty roads and in 3rd gear have very nice acceleration !
Have had my eye on these MK2 Swift Sports for quite a while. Our used car market here in Finland however rarely has these come up. Currently own a FN2 Type R but want something more economical but still reliable and fun to throw around on the B-roads so this Swift Sport seems to perfectly work out. Practicality isn't an issue cuz 99,9% of the time the only one in the car is going to be me and my weekly shopping.
Weird, I’ve just sold my fn2 and about to sell my wife’s Aygo so we can get a nice “middle of the road” car for us to share and this was my top pick Funnily enough previous car was a Yaris tsport (very similar to the SSS) and a lot of Yaris Ts owners moved to fn2 Is everyone copying me or am I copying them?
My 2nd ever car for this ageing biker/hooligan 4yrs ago. More a hoot than a hoolie though. Love that revvy engine and the chassis likes to play in the slow stuff without too much interference. Tyre choice is very limited in the OE sizes so still on Contis. Came with front Falkens which were ok in the dry and dreadful in the wet. A good looking wee car that does not look too boy racery for an old fella. Apparently the new turboed sport is a different weapon. Anyway the review was a pleasant surprise and the wee Suzuki’s sterling reputation is still intact! Your Juke Nismo review got me here by the way J , keep up the good work.
Same problem as you , ended up getting michilin pilot sport 4s in 205/45/17 and when i called my insurer ( hastings ) to ok it they said " we dont really care aslong as its suitable for the rim and the car". Just so you know of you want a change in future

It is. It’s a ex Nurburgring rental from Rent4ring that I imported. 1 of 2 in the uk. Currently at the ring for a track day upsetting a few people lol

I’ve got the Ignis shape Japanese import Swift Sport. 135bhp 940kg twin cam vvt 1.5 . Has a factory light flywheel easily revs to 6500 I’d love it if you can find an Ignis sport 2004 and review it and see if it’s better than the Swift Sport it sure is fun to drive!

So glad to see you review one of these. I bought mine a few months ago and was tempted to offer it up to you to review because you hadn't done one. I will say that I don't get the issue with the keyless. I've found it to be decent and always does what I want it to do. I'd also say I think the cars estimation of it's MPG is far from accurate, seems to be general consensus of other owners too. It's optimistic 😆 All in all, I think the Swift is amazing bang for buck and I'm glad you liked it as one of my favourite cartubers.
Mines consistently 10 percent out, done the maths lots of times with fuel receipts! So it genuinely does average 44mpg for me as it usually claims 49 or 50! Agree with all your points though, love mine too. Keyless entry was iffy for a month and when I gave the car battery a boost it sorted it all out. Been a year of no issues since 👍
The only "issues" I have are with the infotainment. Clock seems to run too fast (have to adjust it about once a month couple minutes back) and MPG is way off, well I don't do mpg but Liters per 100km and it`s about 1-2liter off constantly. Also I don't get the one foglight on the stalk and one as a button. But that's just minor nitpicking. It's not practical car for shopping, travelling or basically anything "family oriented", but we make it work and it`s just so much fun to drive. You don't need to do 150kmh to enjoy it, just find some nice twisty back road and have fun.
How did you find the front seats in this car being a larger gentleman? I sat in a new zc33s at a local dealer and found it's driver's seat tight at around 90kg / 172cm.

in Hungary there is a lot, i mean a lot of the old swifts running around the 90s ones whit 60 or 70 horsepower not the fancy new ones like this but horsepower doesn't matter that much here, you can buy a 200 horsepower old BMW or audi for almost the same money as an old swift, reliability and cheap insurance matter because people here cant afford to put 1000 parts on cars when they broke
I have to agree on reliability. My wife has a 2013 and it hasn't missed a beat. Very cheap car to maintain.

This model is called the ZC32S and is the facelift to the ZC31 and with the addition of the 6th gear, little bit more horse power and a lot more goodies like parking sensors Bluetooth etc, is considered to be sensible and fun at the same time.
I like to think of Suzukis as a hybrid between Honda and Toyota; competent and fun along with impeccable reliability.
You should try and review the older sport 2005 to 2011 I believe , most call them the zc31s I have owned both and sold the zc31s to buy the zc32s and I regretted it everyday till I sold it and got another zc31s they are a much more of a drivers car with stiffer ride and with it being a 5 speed it feels a lot more like a hot hatch and you can really tell you are in a proper drivers car , I really feel like a go cart with cup holders there is no better feeling that driving a zc31s on the black mountain pass with a empty road and some good tyres

I have driven a 2009 swift sport since 2013, amazing car, loads of fun and incredibly reliable, so far only had to replace standard items such as tyres, break pads etc, and it's done getting on for 170,000 km, when I do replace it will probably do so with the newer model. Loads of fun and very practical. Very inexpensive to own over the long run.
I know exactly where this is! This is between halstead/ sible hedingham and Wethersfield! I live just further down the road and have a c2 vts if you would like to road test it, as it's kind of in keeping with the cheap 'hot hatch' theme you have going on. Orrrr I have a vauxhall chevette if u want to do something different??

Love Suzukis. Had two old Ignis 2x4s. 1.3 89hp IIRC, engine co-developed with Yamaha (again IIRC). Brilliant engines, both gearboxes died at 100k and 120k miles. Looked like grandma's car, especially in yellow, but would happily do 100mph and go down a muddy green lane. Also had a Ignis Sport which was a rotten, rotten dog, Would like to compare the Swift to them. Perhaps when I'm 70.

It so reminds me of a Golf GTi mk I, small package, bug fun. Working in a VW dealership in the early 80's we could not get enough of them.
This is opposite, keep your golf. This is not fun. I had to find a new way to work without bends. This car handle like a icecube on a hot plate.

Mini petrol engines (from R50 to R56) are notoriously unrelaible, along with the PAS which regularly fails and ABS issues. I had one and it was a money pit. I now have a Swift and it's the absolute opposite - bulletproof and has cost me nothing, short of oil and filter changes.

I had an '08 in red. I loved it so much that my next car was the '13 model. I really did love both of them to bits. My daily commute at the time was a good mix of urban, country roads and motorways, and while the earlier version was a bucketload of fun on country roads, so was the later version which also had a sixth gear. The extra gear made the '13 much more tolerable on a motorway. If you do a lot of motorway driving then a 2007 model could wear you down, but if you're after something nippy with a lot of character on a backroad then give one a test drive and have a play. It's been a while since I owned them, but I've suddenly found myself back on autotrader looking at them... Make sure you use superunleaded by the way, the VVT engine will thank you

We had one of the Mk1's, then a Mk2 (which wasn't really much quicker) and we were looking forward to the Mk3 which according to the specs was going to be significantly quicker. And I think it was. We didn't get one as it was so effin' ugly. But I've just looked in Auto Express at the specs and its 0-60 time is 9.1 secs, which I'm sure is slower! What's going on?
A black MK3 sport still looks nice. The colour kinda helps a bit. Sure the previous version looks better but also a bit dated.
suzuki has a lot of cars, especially in india and japan. swift is one of their mid-range hatchbacks.

Too bad these were never available in North America. I have a very well preserved 1991 Swift GT and it would be interesting to compare the two.

Don't listen to that notorious hater. It's a great and extremely fun little car with a lot of soul. The handling is great and the sport badge is justified. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic - I owned one for 7 years (now long gone). Only issue with that fantastic 1.7 Yamaha engineered engine was that it had a torque limiter on 1st gear, which really killed inital acceleration. I learned from a forum that the torque limiter was linked to the speedo electronics, so I (and many others) wired in a switch (in the interior) which would temporarily cut the speedo and torque limiter for hard 1st gear pulls, after which you could flick it back on and have your speedo back and business as usual! Transformed the car!

Suzuki builds much more than 7 models. They just offer only 7 in the UK. They build ~20.
I was very lucky my first ever car was a Golf GT Tdi 138bhp very quick for a first car then i got an E36 M3 too much power for a beginner lol , now after many accidents later i drive a 1.1 litre Mitsubishi lol 80bhp but at least its faster than a Bicycle lol
