Fun fact: in the uncut version of the film, before David tries to burn the cabin down with Mia in it, he burns Olivia's body and dismembers Natalie's in an attempt to save their souls as well.
Well why did they cut that out? That would have made him even more of a hero!
@@filmfangirls9163 i think because theyre technically already saved, Natalie and and olivia both got dismembered so it would be pointless. Idk the story kind of confuses me
@Alan_Orozco yeah I guess that makes sense. I did end up watching the uncut version and it was nice to see him covering them up and getting ready to light up the place. And Natalie being cut of by the chainsaw was a nice touch on the original.
Even though Eric started everything, he is single handedly one of the the most resilient horror movie characters in history.
I think missing two arms counts as a dismemberment, and that’s why Natalie is back to human.
I think so too. Even the woman who died at the beginning of the movie from the toilet tank lid may have counted as “dismemberment” as well, since it destroyed a limb of sorts, even without actually removing the limb.
G Taylor that kinda just sounds like mutilation

Mark Krouse I know right! Like I really found this sh*t scary man, and even tho James jokes and everything I still find it hard to not get scared.
Ikr u know what's weird my parents took me to watch this movie at age 7 and also took my 3 younger siblings 😐👎

714.jazminxx x you got shitty parents ain't anything weird bout that.
Haha I was thinking the same thing, this thing is still scary as hell
I like to think that, because Eric died willingly and before his soul could be fully claimed as a deadite, the demon didn’t have enough souls to return at full power, and that’s why it was so easily dispatched.
I think I remember reading on the TV Tropes page for the movie that the reason the abomination was able to rise was because it already had 1 soul before the five teens showed up at the cabin: the girl from the very beginning so when everyone except Eric became a deadite, that was four more souls right there
I dont know about anyone else, but I think Eric is one of the most badass horror movie victims simply because he went through all of that punishment for his actions and still held his old friend before his life. He knew what came first and he knew what mattered, even if it meant him having the most painful injuries in this movie

This is probably my favorite reboot/remake ever. They kept it simple and while it does mimic a lot of the first movies they really somehow managed to make it original.
Great remake, exactly the right balance of homage and innovation. About every ten minutes there’s a callback and you go “ahhh!” And then the rest of the time you go “AAAAAAH” because it’s SO brutal. When Eric took that crowbar to the hand, I made an actual out-loud involuntary noise, and it’s been a minute since a horror movie had that effect on me.
Very easily the best remake. One of my favorite movies. Saw it at midnight on release day in a PACKED theater and hoooo boy, was it fun.
Thank god someone finally agrees with me. I swear i dont see how people hated this movie. I mean obviously I'm not saying it was better than the old ones. But with that being said, this is hands down one of the best or if not then the best horror remake i have ever seen. Why you gotta say my name
I’m really really happy with this remake. I’m usually on the same side of James where I mostly look at remakes and long, convoluted series like “why?”. But I think the director here did everything he could to respect what Sam Raimi created, paying much homage without, in my opinion, treading too heavily on the story Raimi created. The scares are great, the gore is plenty as it should be in Evil Dead, and god damn there are some absolutely terrifying scenes. I think their goal was to make an Evil Dead movie without all the camp and slapstick, just the real horror of the deadites, and I think they really really succeeded. Natalie and Olivia’s deaths/deadite transformations are just horrible to watch, in the best possible way.

True
Natalie had lot more dialogue and scenes in that "leaked" screenplay, but it seems most of her scenes and lines were either cut or never filmed for pacing\budgetary reason. She was basically like the Linda from original movie, but they cut her scenes so much that you forget she's in the movie.
The thing that annoyed me most about her was her outfit. Like what is she wearing? You're going out to a cabin in the woods why are you wearing a dress?! Get some jeans or khakis for crying out loud.
James poking fun over the magnifying glass necklace while covering this series is one of my favorite running gags
I LOVE how simple and elegant the excuse for not leaving the house is. Perfectly believable, and it makes it that much scarier. Ain’t no one rooting for a character making all the wrong choices. But here? They all did their damndest.
Except for how they ignored all the shit and the basement and decided to read the book
@johnnyringo5666 right?! There's blood on the floor and dead cats. Leave!!
Except for when they see a basement full of dead cats and a burned pole, and they just go "Hmm, that's odd", and clean it up. Perfectly normal response to such a horrific basement.

The most anxious parts it the movie are when Mia gets stabbed in the shed with the machete and when the needle gets stuck in Eric's cheek, just below his eye...
I wince just thinking about it, but for me it was extending a box cutter and forcefully licking the blade to cut her own tongue in half. It's quite vivid and easy to imagine it happening to your own tongue.
I for one have to give it up to when Eric got his hand whacked in half by a crowbar. That grossed me out before and still does 0.0.

Veins on fire, losing everyone you have ever loved as a result of addiction and finally doing whatever it takes to overcome(seems like they showed it pretty well)alot of people don't make it but to me this is a positive ending showing Mia overcame...even if it did cost her everything and an arm(ash thought it was groovy as a sign of approval)awesome job James 😎👌👏

The “deadite greeting” (“One by one we will take you”) was done the BEST in this movie. If they had turned up the came-audio then it would have been perfect, but that moment when she goes from vacant, to stiff and alert and says “you’re all going to die tonight.” Chills up my spine, every time.

BRUCE CAMPBELL RETURNS
@@charlesdavis4887 Will Jane Levy come back?
Jason Voorhees nope. Unfortunately Mia will be the main character.
@@deanwinchester8650 Is this confirmed?
Oh man, I remember seeing this in the theaters with my sibling when it was first released. We've both been huge fans of the original trilogy for many years, so we were very much excited to see the 2013 movie. It was the first movie that actually scared the shit out of me in years, and to this day, was the last movie to do so. Normally, gore in films doesn't get to me, but this one actually had me feeling nauseous and light-headed at certain points. The effects were so well-done! I know a lot of people who don't care for this movie because it was played seriously, but I really enjoyed it myself.
This was the scariest movie I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot 😂
The part when the machete cuts through her knee is the most cringe worthy scene
@@NxcturnalSounds The part that fucked me up bad was the needle to the eyeball. That and Mia ripping her own hand off to escape, that was mega fucked.
@@arrestedeffort the arm ripping part is definitely up there. 😨 Also the razor tongue...
@@NxcturnalSounds I forgot all about the razor to the tongue! Oh, and the electric knife scene! That movie just knew how to push all the buttons hahaha.
Absolutely loved the 2013 remake! The opening scene is probably one of the best horror openings ever!
Nothing beats watching a super gory movie in the theater with mature theater goes. It spices up the experience ten fold and my experience was incredible watching this one.
This movie had the most gruesome deaths I've ever seen and I've watched a Serbian film before
Wow
Yeah i feel strange after watching the Serbian film. I feel regret after watched it
You should watch Slasher season 3, it had really great deaths
spades dela cruz i love that show
You should try terrifier
For the fifth soul, since Mia's was technically cleansed or whatever, wouldn't the teenage girl at the beginning have counted? Technically, she didnt die by the fire; her dad blew her head off, so the soul was not officially cleansed, and based on the dead cats, the others made it to the cabin not long after the events of the beginning. Also, 6:48 did anyone else notice the hand drawing in the Necronomicon that was flipping Eric off? I thought it was pretty funny.
That's what I always thought as well. The girl at the beginning was the first soul claimed by the Abomination.
i think the plan was to shoot every limb in the teenage girl's body
@@d0mi3000 he probably shouldn't have started with the head then because that just immediately killed her
omgg right before this video i got your ad for shudder!! im so proud of you!!
Evil Dead is one of my all time favorite movies, it'll always be apart of me, love it.
Idiot: hey guys, I found this weird book. Me: *sees that it is made of human flesh* Also me: *walks quietly out the door and goes home*
Don’t mind me I’m just gonna grab my stuff and leave
I don’t know what the fuck just happened.
Only to find out that the only bridge out of there is destroyed and you're trapped.
@@FloridaGuy53 Guess i gotta swim then
@@bryantfrayley5421 Yes, swimming to escape. No one has ever died swimming trying to escape.
i like the addiction subplot, it makes you feel for mia and brings the movie into the real world in a scary way, plus the justification for staying there. this movie is amazing tbh
Easily one of my top 3 title card drops. I honestly loved this reboot.
