  • I love the fact that the Try Guys collectively agree to so many episodes where Zack tries new ways to cope and deal with his chronic pain. It just makes my heart happy. Most importantly, it spreads awareness and shares ideas for others to try that’ll maybe help them. Everyone’s different, what helps me may not help you. I just live for it. Love the camaraderie ❤️

    • I feel so lucky to have started treatment for my back pain when I got 23. What helped me get a fast diagnosis was that I took my recovering mother to a low impact yoga class focused on recovering patients, and that by the end of it, I was told I wasn't allowed to come back until I visited an specialized doctor. My old mom was fine and totally allowed to participate but I wasn't. It was eye opening for me and a very convincing story for doctors.

I pay $1500-2k a year on top of regular medical insurance (you know, in case I get hit by a bus or whatever) so it’s definitely not accessible to everyone. I hope all of us can find some compassion and relief 💕

But my point is that a good doctor should be able to tell if you’re faking or not and once they see that you’re not, they should do their best job in earnest even if it’s not obvious what’s causing the pain.

    • I had pain off and on for 2 years in my wrist and went to an orthopedic doctor several times. One time he took an x-ray and only held it up to the light in the ceiling and looked at it for all of 2 seconds. He said there was nothing there and prescribed me pain pills but behind my back told my mom I was faking it and looking for attention. When I went to the pharmacist I asked what the pills were and he said they were antidepressants, so the doctor blatantly lied to me. One morning I woke up in so much pain I passed out and my mom took me to a different doctor. He did a bone scan and found a horrible stress fracture which he said was most likely breaking little by little over the course of the 2 years I was in pain. Stress fractures are worse than a clean break because the bone breaks from the inside out and affects the nerves as well, causing so much more pain. That's just one of many horrible doctors I've had to deal with.

It also keeps my flow steady, liquid, and predictable month after month. Also, I unintentionally discovered at work one day that if I ever do get a clot stuck in my cervix and have reverberating pain through my uterus and down to the back of my knees, doing calf-raises somehow dislodges the obstruction in less than 3 minutes and the pain immediately stops. • I've had surgery, I've been on I don't even know how many different medications, I've seen over 20 different doctors (thank you, Canada) and yet it's been 3+ years (mine if from a car accident, I know so many others have had much longer journeys) and my chronic pain is no better than when I started. I am 33. I have two young kids (3 and 5) and it's so terrible to watch them grow and not be able to interact with them the way someone without chronic pain can. This is super interesting to me, and I'd really like to Try it. Thanks, Zach, for always helping and bringing awareness to those of us with chronic pain ❤️

  • Thank you for this! I really love that this company is bringing awareness to Chronic Pain.. I suffer from various auto immune including the same as Zach! All of that has contributed to me having anxiety and depression which until my health issues started 10 years ago I never experienced! I’m in the statistics that you spoke about.. Having a hard /long time getting a true diagnosis and what triggered it all to start.. 💞 Hopefully you do a follow up!

  • Zach, I also suffer chronic pain. I’m so glad to see someone with such a large reach bringing attention to chronic pain, medical gas lighting, and showing options for managing pain. Thank you

  • I'm a 19 year old young woman and I've had chronic pain for 6 years. When they were discussing how difficult it was for young women to get a diagnosis, I started crying all of a sudden because no one (including my own family) has ever taken me seriously about anything that was wrong with me, not my anxiety, not my depression, not my asthma (which took me 7 years and several severe asthma attacks at work to finally get an inhaler), and not least about this pain I am in every single moment of every day. Zach, the other guys and the wonderful women on the You Can Sit With Us Podcast, have truly been my inspiration for trying to take back control of my body and my life. Thank you.

  • omg, i did a research project that included something like flowly (vr related therapy) in my like junior year of college! i’ve been really interested in it since because i’ve had chronic pain issues since i was about 14 (i’m 23 rn) and severe anxiety since i can remember, but i couldn’t a vr set so i just did the project. it’s very interesting research wise! excited to see zach talk about chronic pain and the therapy for it! in my experience, often people who don’t have chronic pain just tell me to do yoga and it’ll “magically” go away. i’m black and currently overweight and even when i was super fit and athletic, i have been gaslit and ignored by doctors and even friend and family. i recently finally got a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and eds, but still constantly have to struggle to be taken seriously. thank you zach for helping me take the initiative to actually take my pain seriously!

  • Thank you for making these. Chronic pain is no joke and it's nice to see how others journey through it. I'm starting mine and some days I break because I just don't know how to do it alone. The journey of finding a doctor that cares and listens has been a long one and still ongoing. Kudos to you Zach for going through this for our education. I'm going to buy one of those neck inflates from the other video.😂

  • I really love the conversations around pain. Love to see Zach explore disability/disability justice and for all the Try Guys to really explore their mental health journeys. I think self-care has been normalized, but I'd love to see them also encourage/experience therapy or different neurodivergencies! Love this channel and all of the Try Guys

  • I'm an American woman who has had chronic pain and stiffness since I was in middle school. I didn't even acknowledge what it was until recently because everyone told me "you're too young to have pain like that" and I thought they were right. Not to mention, I didn't want to think about that pain existing for the rest of my life. I was young and a dancer. Watching my aunt, a very outspoken and driven woman, struggle to get her fibromyalgia diagnosis for years made be afraid to bother with doctors. Though it's getting worse and I don't think I'll have a choice soon. But Zach, you've really helped me accept this part of my life with how open you are about this stuff. I'm learning to face it and accept that it won't disappear if I wish on enough stars. These videos have also helped me find new ways to treat my pain until I have the energy to bother with stupid doctors. (And healthcare for civilians here sucks..). Even if I can't get a fancy vr thing, I didn't know you could use breathing for things other than anxiety. So this is really cool. Thank you for being so open and for sharing all this stuff with us. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has benefited. At least your chronic pain has been good for something!

  • My mother is 42 years old and suffers from chronic pain and she has been treated so horribly by so many doctors. Most seem to think she just wants pills or something, and some don’t even believe her. She just wants help, and I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. Thank you for this video guys 😌

  • idk how many doctors i’ve seen trying to manage what we’re almost positive is chronic fatigue syndrome and doctors either don’t believe me or can’t help bc of how young I am. I live in a state that’s in the top 2% for specialty medicine and we don’t have the kind of doctor I’d need for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Seeing these kinds of accessible chronic pain management options really warms my heart bc I’ve spent YEARS trying to get people to believe me and help me manage my chronic conditions. I really hope this kind of idea becomes more popular so less and less people have to wait years for relief

  • As someone who has heart issues who has to be able to control their breathing when I have an episode this seems awesome!! I often use my phone to distract myself during them because I often get really bad anxiety attacks during my episodes if I dont focus on another task.

  • I think this is smart, because the best way to relieve anxiety is to change the way you are thinking about whatever you are anxious about
