@@Ryanide09 It has a customizable button already and it's pretty lightweight and relatively small. Aperture ring would be nice though.

Hi Jason, are you sure that is 2 x XD motors? What I read on Sonys website the lens has 2 X Linear motor [LN] not the 2 x [XD LM]

Only if you’re getting a FF soon but the limited range on this doesn’t make sense for APSC. Better if you get the 16-55mm f/2.8 or just get the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8
Ahhh!!! I just bought the f4 power zoom last year. I was neither here nor there about the zoom but if I had the choice at the time, I would have picked this f2.8 instead for better low light performance.
I dropped my GM v1 off my monopod and have it out for a repair estimate. Might have to be my replacement if the cost is outrageous to fix.
I’m gonna need a longer review of this 16-25mm to the 16-35mm GM2 . I have a student discount from B&H that allows me to get the GM2 for $1950 , but still waiting for the edu price for the 16-25mm , I’m thinking it will be about $1050 . Trying to see what’s the justified price for a hobbiest that does paid gigs about 1 or 2 times every couple months . I have a Sony A7IV. Been looking for a good wide angle zoom lens .

I am disappointed that 16-25mm isn't also PZ. I was waiting for this lens hoping its also PZ, in my line of business 2.8 is very useful (even on an ultra wide, yes)

If your camera is an APSC sensor, then no. Stick with the 11mm

I own the Tamron 17-28 and am very happy with it. But a Sony 16-25mm f2.8 is hard to resist. It would fit nicely on my Sony a7cr. And the price seems fair compared to the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM II Lens

While the AF is still great on this lens. It does not have XD motors. Just "highly optimized" ones. Per sonys own site specs.

I want to see a review of a sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 vs the new 16-25mm f2.8 .
I am not into zoom lenses, but I am a spec nerd, this Sony 16-25mm 2.8 is 409g ($1200), so it is about the same as the Tamron 17-28mm 2.8 at 420g ($800), if you want a more light weight Lens, then there is the Sony PZ 16-35mm 4.0 at 353g ($1200). I am not into video, but if I was I would take the cheaper Tamron 17-28mm or the Sony 16-35mm with longer reach !

Meh... not excited about this one. I think the PZ16-35 is a better option for most people. The extra range is better for one lens carry, most people are stopping down with angle images, it's internal zoom, versus reverse zoom and it's smaller and lighter. Yes it's an f4 vs the sexier f2.8 but I think it's better in every other way.
*G lens As I've found out with my first G lens for my FX30 which is a 15mm f1.4*

Dang it! I just committed to getting the 16-55mm 2.8 G lens for APS-C for my a6300 instead of the 24-50mm that's about to come out, and now this? Now I'm torn (again!)
You did nothing wrong. The 16-25 is for full frame. You got a wonderful APS-C lens! Enjoy!
@@sashinger5230 Haven't bought yet, just mentally committed :). But I can use FF lenses on an APS-C body, it's just 1.5x on the range (so, 36-75mm instead of 24-50). My back and forth was between "do I want the newest and hope that its faster/sharper/better, AND future proof for if I go to full frame, or do I spend the extra $300-ish to get something wider that is for APS-C and won't work as well on a FF if I go that route?"
@@Ak47ira Yes, you can use ff lenses on APS-C but the 16-55 (or the 17-70 from Tamron) would still be the more flexible choice while still shooting APS-C. The 16-25 is a quite limited option on both imho. On another note: If you already know you will be switching to ff then do it rather sooner than later. Doesn't make that much sense to invest and think for both imho. It really helps to commit to one of both as soon as possible and keep it like that. Been there, done that.😂
All those sony 16-35 lenses are great but give me a small 16mm pancake like lens with f2.8 to pair up with the zv-e1 and that would be perfect. Sigma 17mm f4 is great but man wish it was a f2.8 at least.

Pff no need for that i have 16-35 GM II that is my perfect focal range and i don't need anymore 24-70 as well trying to sell it ! And really i don't see nothing in this lens better than in 16-35 GM II just money waste and will be need again walk around with many lenses when i can use only 1 and second take 70-200 just perfect combo ! And if this lens is only little bit better than tamron then pay for it so much nooooo way !
