  • What I feel like is flagships are reaching a point of diminishing returns, and I feel like most improvements are not exactly too important, and mostly the product page is filled with gimmicks that not everyone will need. But budget phones do still have a point of not great enough, like the A05 still has a 720p display which isn't great, where an 200-300$ will offer great improvements. So the best price range to get a smartphone for me would be an 250-500$ phone.

What makes me anti of the A25 is just the Exynos really. Even the higher end Exynoses runs badly, would never try the mid range ones. Same with the A54. I would always choose the A34 really😅

I mean when a34 is faster than a54 it's shows how exynos has issues that need to be resolved. Even before then when S20/21 launched the exynos chip on (I think in Europe/international) was worse than the Snapdragon chipset on the us version people could tell, not just performance, but also image processing. Simply, Samsung needs to resolve it's exynos chipset issues.

  • For around $100 more, you can get the A25 5G which has a 120Hz Super AMOLED display, 128-256GB storage which is more than enough for most people, 6-8GB of RAM (depends on what storage option you choose), A HEADPHONE JACK, pretty decent cameras, a 5000mAH battery which should last you a day or two, a fingerprint reader. I mean what more could you ask for? It literally has the same features, if not, more features than a flagship, and it’s 10x cheaper. Yes it might not feel premium, but I prefer plastic over anything else when it comes to durability.

Maybe you should be reviewing these phones lol I don't understand why he chooses to review these super cheap phones that obviously can't compete with a flagship let alone other more pricey midrange phones. I was doing a lot of research on the A25 & A34 because I want to finally replace my A71 5G that sucks and very laggy too after all the updates. I decided on the A25 with 256GB because unlike the A34, this one has a headphone jack, and FINALLY a physical fingerprint sensor!! I've been dying to get another phone with that feature smh. A friend of mine once said he can’t buy expensive designer sunglasses because he would just end up sitting on them or losing them or breaking them or having them stolen all the time. For someone like that maybe replacing a $100 phone every few months might make a lot of sense. My guess is that that despite its age, in the 2018 flagship, you are still getting much better performance, much better screen quality, better build overall, and much more features in the hardware. However in the new budget phone, you are getting a much newer version of software and probably much better battery life.

I'm currently onto my 4th Samsung S series phone (S23 Ultra currently), however back in late 2021, I bought an A03s shortly after watching the review you did on it, to act as a backup phone (I got it ridiculously cheap). Two and half years later, Samsung have so far delivered on all their promises on the A03s - it got two Android updates (started at 11 and now on 13), and continues to get general updates. So it's looking good for 4 years of support. Hopefully that's a good sign for anyone thinking about the A05 / A05s.

First year was totally great until my storage got full , and once that happens any phone starts lagging and underperforming especially budget phones . So i was constantly deleting stuff and videos and apps every now and then for a couple of years now. From 2020 to 2024. And don't let me start talking about the rams , too little ram that i can't heavily multitask or else apps starts crashing . And i can't tell you how much I'm suffering currently with my phone. So slow and laggy with 98% of my storage full (even with extended microsd card) and i can't find anything to delete coz almost everything is important ,and as you know as long as you use apps they little by little start to increase in storage until they bust it full .and the battery life has decreased immensely, well the main reason is me obviously because i was using it in the worst way possible. But nonetheless if i have a long day out of home and my battery is 100% i still put my phone in super power saving mode to avoid dying on me😂. And sometimes it does. I withstood 4 years with it and i still love this phone but it grew old .I've been planning to buy the A14 when it dropped but couldn't afford it at the time(180$) and now the A15 has dropped (220$)and i was this close to buy it when i had the money from couple of months worth of savings , but some urgent stuff happened and i had to wisely change my plans coz some stuff are more important than a new phone. I think I'll carry out with my A11 another year until my circumstances change. On the bright side I'll Probably get a chance to get the A16 once it drops🤞 But for the record A11 as a whole is a great phone concerning its price and fits good in the category of people only relying on surfing the web and social media only. But apparently it isn't my category , I'm more of a heavy duty gaming, searching ,multitasking, working person . It's interesting to hear that you faced the same as i did so how was your experience ? and whats your current phone if i may ask?

  • Best option: Past 2-3 year flagship phone. Phones depreciate in value rapidly and a big chunk of that depreciation happens within the first year and a half of the smartphone's release. I would rather pick up the S21 ultra and pair a S pen to it or a Note 20 Ultra. Both are still amazing phones and in the used market only goes for around $300-350 USD. A quarter of the S24U's price. In my opinion there's no reason to go cream of the crop unless $1299 compared to $349 means nothing to your wallet. If that's the case, burn that cash away.

And if you can get a used model that doesn't suffer from burn in, which is a gamble at the best of times. • I benchmarked a 2023 budget phone against a 2020 flagship (Motorola 5G 2023 vs. Samsung Note 20 Ultra). The flagship significantly outperformed the budget phone and provided a smoother user experience. The Moto lags at times and had to restart it a handful of times during the week compared the Note. If you factor in the longevity of flagship of a flagship then it could be a better value and experience. While I'll eventually upgrade to an S24 Ultra, it could replace both my phone and an aging Samsung tablet thanks to features like DeX. It's important to understand the cost implications of research and development. High-end tech often starts out expensive, but as the innovation trickles down, Samsung's budget line benefits. You really need to determine what features you want. As for me, I enjoy a lot of the high end features and don't mind paying more for them. I might not buy phones when they are first released but would buy them at a discounted rate when I find a deal. I think another benefit of entering the Samsung loyalty club is that preorder discounts with a trade in can bring down the cost significantly. Perhaps the best performance-for-price value lies in Samsung's mid-range phones or a discounted, refurbished S22 or S23 Ultra. This is reminiscent of the iPhone X, whose initial high price was partly due to its novel curved-edge glass screen.

  • I believe that for a cheap phone that is just trying to be the cheapest it can be (because that's what the A05 should be) the things that are taken away to make it cheaper are just fine. The problem is that it's still priced at $150. With all the drawbacks it should be at the $50 mark or so to really stand out for those that need a budget phone. I think samsung needs to cut down their lineup a bit to get the budget phones to be more.. budget. I know $150 is not a lot of money but I think that if they only made say 3 budget/ midrange options instead of 7 the cut in production costs could allow them to not only lower the price of the lowest end version but make the higher end of their budget lineup more appealing.

  • Personally I feel like for even casual use the extremely budget lines are a bit too low spec for purpose. They tend to be noticably laggy, the cameras are bad in comparison to everything else, you frequently brush up against the storage limits for apps, even with an sd card, and they don't tend to get reliable software updates even if they're promised. Jumping up the line to an A30 or A50 type phone is more than enough though, as those types of phones tend to be as good or better then flagships from a couple of years ago. They just feel more premium in the hand. Anything more expensive is probably redundant for most people unless they need the specific features - for example, I went from an A52 to an S21FE and although I think it's subtly better, and love the new phone, I probably didn't really need to upgrade. My dad went from the S21FE to an S24 and barely notices the difference, whereas my mam went from her A0 something to my A52 and is in love with the thing.

Almost all flagship features can be found in budget and midrange phones, with great storage options and good cameras. These phones are overall the best option for many users. It's not necessary to get trapped in the luxury of expensive phones just to feel rich. In my mindset, net worth is not determined by the phone one uses. There's nothing wrong in buying budget phones, so my suggestion is to choose a value for money and an overall great device in the budget midrange department.

  • I think we need to consider the fact that the cheaper model's LCD display doesn't have the S24U's glass tech, and despite that, it somehow manages to put out a decent picture quality and even looks just as bright as the much more expensive model. And remember, this LCD display is "CHEAP", it's not even flagship level, and yet the brightness indoors is pretty even overall (probably due to the locked brightness). Furthermore, if I you are looking for a device that's much more capable and much more good looking, just go with the Techno Camon 20 Pro 4G or the Spark 20 Pro Plus. Aside from the 1 year OTAs, which indeed, is a downer, you won't be getting the same laggy and poor performance that you get with Samsung devices...which is caused by the really ass-level optimization of their software. You could buy a different phone with the same SOC as a budget to mid-end Samsung phone, and Samsung's will still lag and stutter even at the most basic of tasks. Running games is even worse due to the software bogging the device down. The Huawei Y6p runs smoother than the Galaxy A14, which has more than 2 times the power as the latter, even when it comes to gaming, which is surprising cuz the Y6p comes with a Helio P20 series SOC. Advice: Unless you want software support, never buy a cheap or mid-ranger Samsung device. Yet, even still, you're guaranteed to have 4-5 years software support on Xiaomi's. Like, MIUI14 is out for the Poco M3, btw, and that's a budget device. Only problem is the delay between regions. Yep...

The features you can't get on a lesser device are features id ever never use or would never miss. The features I do care about have became either commonplace amongst the mid and budget range devices or have actually become exclusive to that segment. Expandable storage. I do not purchase any device without expandable storage. Headphone jack. Two absolute prerequisites fir me. I think it's a dam insult to charge 1 and half grand for a phone and not let people expand the storage. I think the people buying this kind of tech wants the latest tech and also wants to be seen with the luxury brand. These people will pay that price no matter what a phone can and can't do. Price of including AI tech on every handset ? Price of including 3mm headphone jack on every handset ? The headphones jack without question will cost samsung more. But if your paying that kind of money for a phkne you will pay regardless of the phones shortcomings. And they know that. Same deal with expandable storage. You literally get more for less with phones. Sure you won't have the latest tech but what are your priorities? Having AI wallpapers or your sd card and hesfphone jack? Things I use literally daily.

However, i believe that the A04 has cut too many corners for its price, especially when compared to 2020 midrangers. The A05 sells around $210 in Turkey (long story), for that price you can pick up a 2nd-hand Galaxy A71 which looks like a modern phone and has more features, or the Poco X3 Pro which would still pass as a performant midranger, if you find a good deal.

  • What's gonna blow your mind is that A05 is not even that bad camera wise, atleast compard to competition, samsung is making the best of their hardware, any other OEM will not be able to extract those kind of pictures from that hardware. I think people mostly using falgships have some inherent biases that people themselves arent aware of and I dont really blame them for it. But I have seen the bottom of budget phone pictures and it aint pretty

  • I've had a lot of experience with the A series, so my pick may be a little biased. A's are most likely to lag. One of my outdated device's home button deliberately froze. Now, it's more likely to crash and seeks a reboot. I have a device running android 9, and I haven't updated it since 2020. Can't support most modern software interfaces. With an S, flagship devices are superior in terms of price. You receive what you paid for. My s22 rarely lags. It's running One Ui and the latest Android version. In this case, the s24 ultra has my vote; unless there's anything to change that.

    • Your A series just doesn't get what every budget phones needed and It's daily user optimization+tweaks to make it smoother. I have the same exact A series since I bought it in Mid 2019 and I can say this phone outruns the A11, A12, A20/s and A14 despite it being 1 to 4 generations older and It's the A10s which is the device I am using to type this on. I have it running Android 11 with One UI Core 3.1 and It's smoother than the A13/14 running Android 14. Even with 3GB of RAM this phone still runs flawlessly. The speaker is good despite having Mono, the screen is vivid and bright enough despite the LCD and max of 450 nits. It stutters when scrolling because It's only 60Hz but the overall performance when opening about 6 mid range apps is still fluid. I plan to mod this phone because it has a lot of potential.

  • Hey! Andrew from Australia here. I bought the Samsung S23 Ultra because my Samsung Galaxy S9 was failing after 7 years of service. Being a single gay man, I liked the S23 Ultra. It is a beautiful phone. I bought my niece a Samsung phone for her birthday, probably a bit more expensive than the AO5. She was so happy with it and we set it up together (I'm an ex Club DJ and audio/visual engineer). She isn't a spoilt brat and she loves me because at 62 years of age, she thinks I'm cool??? She bought a case for it and it has a headphone jack so she can use her cans with it. About 2 months after I bought My S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra was released. I watched a KZhead video on comparisons between the two. When you buy a new phone with all the bells and whistles, you know that over time, new phones are gonna be released. Even today, some stores are offering an S24 Ultra (UPGRADE) to S23 owners who feel they just have to have the latest phones. The whole idea of a mobile or cell phone in the beginning was to communicate on the fly. My first phones were talk and text only and we survived. While I love my tech, I keep it real. It's a device to comunicate with. Think about that before you HAVE TO HAVE the very latest in tech. Cheers from OZ!

If i open an Webbrowser if i open the Keyboard if i use the Camera and i didnt even mention the lack of Features but now i use an A51 its way better than the A13 but still it lags if i open Samsung Internet. It takes sometimes years to choose an File inside an App because the File Manager Window takes Years to open. I wait for the A55 and look if this has improved
