Having said that, as for China, I still feel that China political system works well for China for now. As a chinaman, at least China should make sure that Judicial truly independence. Imperial China has a very interesting department called Censorate Bureau which is as powerful as the Judiciary in Old England. Singapore political system embodies both the eastern and western culture would be best fit for China. I believe Deng Xiao Peng may agree with me

As much as you try to singluarly pin the blame on him, Trump did not start any new wars while he was in power, and Trump was interested in making deals with other world leaders. But look at Biden, and he's literally detested by other world leaders and unable to make deals with anyone.

Let us be clear; Russia does not want or need to invade anyone. It is the United States that has been invading, bombing, drone-striking, and no-so-covertly overthrowing governments to install puppet rulers friendly to US financial interests. 17 nations so far on two continents. Technically the US has already started a new world war. Plus operations are underway to overthrow elected governments and replace them with puppet regimes in many other nations, including the US overthrow of Ukraine's elected government last January which is why we are in this mess now. It is the US that wants to start a war with Russia, but want to make it look like it is Russia's fault!

  • I'm an Australian who travelled many times to America for work over many years. Like Cyrus I also found it amazing how "America centric" people are there, how ignorant they about other countries and hard it is to find news there on the rest of the world. It seems ironic to me that a nation whose government is so involved and focused on other countries around the world has a population at home with no interest in those same places.

I've also traveled extensively as a pilot, Because of the woeful MSM in the US, Americans generally have a very limited and warped understanding of international affairs. Put another way. You can't take off work to be a mother, then you're shunned from society because you're not going back to work. Look, either raise my child or pay my Bills, cause I'm not going to kill myself to do both. That's why I chose not having children because it's far less stressful via trying to be pregnant, birthing a baby and nursing a baby while working all at the same time. I've even known women who has C-sections and had to go back to work two days later.

Meanwhile here in the states I pay under $400 for healthcare, $40 for copay upfront just to see the doctor, then $75 per each x-ray, lab and anything else which will be billed to me. Many of us in the US stay sick with ailments and growths on us because we just can't afford the doctor Bills.

    • @@christins.1481that is crazy. In Sweden it’s your right by law that you can take 120 working days off per year if your child is sick until the child is the day before 12y.. employers are not allowed to discriminate you in any way due to that nor question it. There is a special fund set aside for that, paying you 80% of your salary during all those 120days. Sure nobody takes all those days every year. But technically you could. Sure after few days they do need a Dr. to sign off the child’s illness. Also even the father/parent that didn’t give birth to the child has the right to 10days off work paid for at 80% straight after birth. Also during 400days or so you can split it however you want between you two just to take days off to spend with your child, also paid for 80%. But I think the father has to at least take 90days/90days are reserved for at least one parent and cannot be transferred to the other (so only if he doesn’t want it at all). Also written into the law the worker is not allowed to be discriminated in any way for taking them days out nor tried to be forced to work anyways or questioned in any way about it. It’s also kinda crazy with these laws that most swedes have very low birth rates anyways haha

Over the years I've seen the decline turning USA into a dystopia which is my dilemma and grief because my young family are here starting their lives with an infant, struggling financially . My brothers and I made sure our children are provided with superior education , equipped with ADVANCED degrees, married professionals with Masters , PhD degrees as well yet why are they living a hand to mouth existence? Only paid pittance (for example by HEALTHCARE CORPS) despite exceptional qualifications, by these well known trillion $$$$$ corporations which DON'T PAY TAXES. The mortgage they pay drains their salaries to the bottom , daycare costs leave them scraping the dredge of what's left. YET BIG CORPS ARE GIVEN LOANS BY FEDERAL BANK INTEREST FREE, even NEGATIVE INTEREST meaning the FEDERAL BANK will reward them more taxpayers money for obtaining those loans . WTF. ! ! ! SEVERAL big banks lately still bankrupted taxpayers' depositors money which they loan to SCAMMERS big businessmen like TRUMP , WYNN and more because Trump and the Republicans , SEC 's BANKING DEREGULATIONS. " Should we go or should we stay " is the refrain that keeps playing in our minds. Next door is very welcoming with generous offers . All degree holders and professionals should make a run for it for greener pastures ( USA has become a MIRE/POVERTY TRAP ) for hardworking , honest, intellectuals) and cause a brain drain, but what's the possibility of these CRIMINAL THIEVING CORPORATIONS to move next door to run their nefarious operations there , infect and spread their business cancer and corruptions ( into political systems and government) as they have done already in other countries? The USA has begun the world economic control , amassing guns, WMDs, nuclear warheads, Biowarfare capabilities - COVID was a dry run escape goating China which USA hates extremely because of the lying media and Murdoch. It's getting UGLIER here , worst are yet to come.

Believe it or not having a masters degree, and marrying educated people doesn't guarantee comfort or great paying jobs, moreover this feeling of being entitled to 'the good life' is just a false notion that at the end of the day you personally are wrestling with. The conflict in essence is that what you see going on is in stark contrast to these notions of guaranteed prosperity you hold so dear. Tell the kids to spend less, save, and lower their fixed costs. Unlike the Japanese that went on with their modernization with the Meiji Restoration, the Qing Dynasty's modernization efforts were unfocused, halting and often self defeating and in the end retreat back even further into their bubble. Until the west start craving up the country, selling drugs to the people and wage war on China, humiliating them for a hundred years while Japan went on to defeat Russia at Tsushima. Now America is like the end of the Qing Dynasty, fiercely insular, highly arrogant and refuse to learn from the outside world or its own mistakes, preferring the comfort of ideological dogma verged on religiousity. I have come across numerous Americans who have left a deep impression on me through their magnanimity, generosity, selflessness and extraordinary kindness. I don't know when it started but over time, the US as a nation appeared to have changed imperceptibly for the worse, finally culminating in a nation that is almost beyond recognition. Cyrus has so accurately and succinctly listed all the major factors. The chief culprits no doubt are the American politicians, the big corporates and the media. In cahoots with each other, they have hijacked the entire nation to enrich themselves at the expense of the wellbeing and the long term interests of the people. It is no wonder that while the US continues to pride itself on being the beacon of liberal democracy, the rest of the world looks on it as a hypocritical kleptocracy.

You can have healthcare coverage but if it is not premium coverage, and if you visit the doctor more than once (after your annual physical), be prepared to shell out hundreds or even thousand dollars. • I need some of your advice here, I'm a East Asian guy who moved to US in Los Angeles with my family from East Asia when I was 13, now I'm 25, no college degree, I do feel I'm not happy living here now. Making friends seem hard for me, people of my generation(Gen Z) are very sensitive, even though I grew up here since I was 13, I still feel I don't know enough about this country and culture, so I'd ask, but sometimes it relates to race or some sensitive topics, and people are just kinda aggressive here, despite I mentioned my immigrant background, it wasn't like this back in 2012 when I was in high school, but everything seems to change after 2014(at least for me) Should I go back to Asia? Because I do see East Asia(Korea, Japan, Taiwan) is getting better with multi-cultural and racial people, even though there's a lot of confusion going on, but at least people are very friendly and try to understand each other. I do see I might have a little opportunity there with my bi-cultural background(Like I can go help some Americans there fit in better), but I'm not sure, I feel like I can start up a business in US easier and with a larger market, I do feel American girls(especially white and latina girls)are cuter, I can also pursue a college degree here that's useful anywhere. Going back to Asia, I'm sure I can make more friends, perhaps date a western girl that speaks my language too, but my pay there will be very low, at least lower than in US, and I don't really see much of growth in Asia compare to US, in Asia it's more competitive and I already lost it when I don't have my degree by age 22, what should I do? Can some of you share your experience with me? You can also share your perspective here about US, I need some of the advice on what's the best for me as a person who has bi-cultural background, I feel very lost, but I'm 25, if I stay or leave, I can still make things work, I'm afraid if I still hesitate, then when I'm older, it's harder for me. Especially in Asia, companies judge you very hard on your age, if you're 30 with an ok experience and no degree, no one wants you, I might left Asia for a long time but I still know the language and I know the culture very well. Pleeeeeease, need your advice!!

In 2008 I didn't buy a dental insurance and I went to get a crown for another tooth. The dentist (the same one) changed me $700 for total cost in cash after I told him I had no insurance. The same kind of crown but they charged me $1500 if I have a dental insurance and $700 if I have no a dental insurance. After that I figured it out that dentists will increase your total cost for a crown if you have a dental insurance, thus it means that your dental insurance actually doesn't help you. EX: dentists offer a patient without insurance the total cost $700 for a crown in cash but they offer you $1500 in total when you tell them you have a dental insurance, and $600-$700 of which are your copay. See, your dental insurance actually doesn't help you a lot. The insurance and the dentists make money and it's still you who lose money. Understand?

I hitchhiked to the Oracle in Delphi, went to Plaka on the Acropolis cliff and from there to Istanbul. returned to Denmark to finish high school. Four days after graduation I had sold all of my library and other belongings and was heading back to Istanbul to go through the Middle East and Afghanistan (the best) aiming at India and ran straight into the 1965 war between India and Pakistan, started by the latter. Bombing is the absolute terror, something the US excells in. Europe is also awful. Asia is best and will lead in the future.

A lady said that she's visited China some 10 years ago. I asked her what she thought about it. Her reply was: I saw police carried guns at the airport! Another guy from New York replied: Our police carry guns here too! It dawned on me that the American lady who visited China was looking at China through colored glasses: The Chinese police carrying guns is a symbol of suppression, but the US police carrying guns is a sign of protection? Subsequently, I tried to explain that the Chinese Communist Party has evolved and its not the same as the old one during Mao's era. The US lady shot me another question: but can the people own personal properties like a house?

What is funny is the side effects often sound worse than the disease they are trying to fix. They put it in tiny print on the screen and speak super quick about the possible side effects of the drug they are advertising. I wonder how many rich people talk to their doctor about an ad they saw on TV. It must be working because over time there seems to be more of them. And yes health care costs keep rising faster than inflation and basic health care quality not so much. There is money for Ukraine and the MIC but not for crumbling infrastructure. But those rights cost us a lot as a nation in form of taxes and unemployment. So be careful about what you desire. • Remembering the exorbitant amount spent on health care and the benefits achieved, it is indeed crazy that the ONLY place in the world that sells car adaptors for breast pumps is the USA! My children were born before paid maternity leave but our jobs were protected for 6 -12 months. I chose not to return to regular shifts as a midwife after my first child (but did casual shifts when it suited me and my baby!) My husband took four weeks annual leave which I think of as necessary time to begin working as a team raising a child together. I don't know about "the undesired outcomes of a public policy" but I do know about how having a CHOICE impacted me personally! Our firstborn later became gravely ill (sorry about the pun) and my husband stayed home for over a year while I worked. It was the best decision we ever made. Our daughter died the following year. Parents have freedom to choose what is best for their family in almost every country in the world. Nothing is free anywhere and if the USA choose to nurture their military rather than their children and pump milk in their cars, that's how it is there. I'm just glad I could make my own decisions.

Your American bubble concept reminds me of my giving a test to my geography class at Boston University in 1977 when I was a young professor there. I gave my students a map of the world and asked them to locate a number of countries. Most of the class failed. I was on the news that evening because it was considered newsworthy. • There are many in the US that feel exactly like you do. But, with only two viable political parties, and the machines of both in every state, the choices of folks to vote for these days is down to lesser of the evils. I lived overseas myself, and that gave me a whole new perspective on the USA. The influence we have - good and bad -- is much larger than many realize. And the press..... I was asked by a German several years ago why America airs its dirty laundry in front of the world. That got me thinking about where things were heading with this 24-hour news cycle. And that news cycle is probably THE most divisive part of all this. And the politicians play to the cameras. There are plenty of examples of how this affects us, and misconceptions it leads to. Add in the agenda driven coverage of stories, or story selection more commonly, the lack of any in-depth reporting (at least on TV) etc. I get news from the internet more than anywhere (and NOT social media lol). In this way, I can fact check easily, or find opposing viewpoints. Unfortunately, many folks have chosen their sides and it has become tribal as heck. For fun, take a deep dive into Big Pharma. I read a piece a few years back about bringing Claritin to market. The R&D, trials, FDA approval process etc. cost something like $750M dollars. Now, in the US, we give the pharma folks a limited time monopoly on these new drugs to help recoup these costs. This same drug cost US folks MUCH more than in other countries during that time. There's some history behind all this that dates to WWII - and kinda made sense at that time given that the US was the only large industrial power left standing. E.g. we were paying for new drug development for pretty much the world at that point. Things have changed, but the rules are still there.

Subsidy is for those falling in lower income bracket in IRS records. Those with higher income brackets also eligible to get health insurance through the market place. Market place for higher taxable income uses income tax return checks and subsidize premiums. Good thing about American healthcare system is all procedures and treatments are available to all patients without long wait times. Another good thing is all patients under hospital care get equal attention and care in the hospital from the medical staff regardless of the insurance status. The bills can pile up for the patient with insurance issues later after the hospital discharges the patient. However, such patients get into long term affordable payment arrangements. It’s nevertheless not disastrous for the patient. Salaries for professionals & labor are higher than other countries, paying monthly premiums and bills after payment arrangement become affordable and routine for those with insurance issues or higher deductibles. Shorter Maternity leave definitely needs to be made better. It is true America is not a welfare state like many developed countries and that we have to accept and never stop working, always improve on skills and keep going, never give up.
