Daisy is an old girl with a heart of gold. This video will be a forever memory for her owners to look back on, and I'm so glad I could make that happen for them!

    • okay can I please ask you then (if you even see this almost a year later) cause in my run up to adopting my first pet very soon in literal decades, a cat, I've been doing a ton of research on both cats and dogs, I'm just fascinated. It's not like I'm only just now finding out that dog grooming exists, but from all of the material I've read and seen so far, most of the things being done to the dog are what I've seen is suggested for what you'd hopefully be doing with your pet anyway, just on a smaller scale. like I understand what this groomer here is doing is substantial and she's very good and very caring about it, but does the notion of dog grooming exist because people aren't paying enough basic ongoing attention to their dog? like right now, hell the thing I'm most worried about with the cat I'm getting is that it'll be annoyed by me, from the attention I want to give it. I'm LOOKING FORWARD to brushing my cat. And I know of course I can't really WASH my cat too, but I know plenty of people do wash their dogs on their own, and do nail clippings. But is my point of view on this whole thing just completely off? I'm glad to acknowledge that if that's the case, I'm just having trouble now seeing how it is. Is the concept of pro grooming because too few people doing routine preventative care?

When he was about 2/3 grown, he stood up on his hind legs, put his paw on my shoulders, and was looking me straight in the eye. I'm 6 '1, and was amazed how strong he was. He gave me some slobbery kisses, and repeated this routine every time i saw him. They're amazing dogs, but need a lot of space and meat.

I believe our mixture, Pauline was her name, would’ve got much older, but once around Christmas 4 years ago they got poisoned by sausages someone put poison in and placed them around our farm. We were lucky to have big dogs, our vet said, because she had a similar case, where a smaller dog ate a poisoned sausage and she said she barely found a vein when they had to put the dog down. We had to put Pauline down in February 2019, because her kidneys failed, which we believed they did because they took much damage from the poison. Our German Shepherd Balu, who ate the poison too, is now 11 years old and besides the hip dysplasia older GS are prone to suffer from, he is at best health.

Balu wasn’t himself after she was gone, normally he would bark at stranger people walking past our farm or cars pulling into our driveway, but he didn’t look at them. A few weeks after her passing we got a puppy, another German Shepherd who we named Nero. At first Balu didn’t know what to do and avoided him, but as he grew the two of them started playing. Two bad jabs of bad luck in a row. She wasn't YOUNG young when she died, but she wasn't really old either. Regardless of how much longer she could have lived, it was pretty dang sad. My grandparents were really upset. It took them quite a while (a matter of years) before they got another dog. Flappy is a havanese, who is... 6... ish... years old now I think. I can't quite remember how many years ago they got her. I think it's good that they got a dog which was very different than Neffie, for practical reasons, but also because as a pet owner myself, I believe having a new pet should be about embracing a new soul, while not trying to find a replacement for the irreplaceable. Flappy was named by one of my youngest cousins, and I've heard someone say it stands for "Fun Loving And Happy." My mom's side of the family is big, and tight-knit, so when Covid hit, a big concern of mine was knowing gramma was probably gonna have anxiety problems. I was even more thankful than ever that they had Flappy, because she was able to be a constant physical presence. Flappy is taken to a groomer every now and then. As far as I know, she does okay. I think it's a case of "Alright. But I won't like it." sort thing.

For some reason, I didn't particularly bond with him, but he was a good dog. Well, technically Winston was a lab/newfie mix, but I don't know if anyone would be able to tell just by looking at him. He was smart... even though he did eat a laundry hamper once. When he died (I was 5 or 6), my dad didn't handle the grief quite like he should have, and quickly got another newfie. She was also a good dog, but had a bladder problem, and when my parents got divorced, she had to stay with my mom because of the need to have constant access to a doggy door + yard. But I suppose my mom's karma of not giving up a big bladder-troubled dog paid off (I remember Ursula passed the summer after my sophmore year of high school), because a few years ago, mom and I adopted a pittie, who has a dang bladder of steel (I mean he'll do stuff like wait rather than go out in the rain because the Fudge boi is a baby boi).

  • My childhood dog Bruce lived to be 16. Once he started getting up there in age and the arthritis started setting in, our long hour, multi-mile daily walks got replaced with “toenail” walks, where we would walk down and back on the pavement on our street to help file down his toenails in-between visits to the groomers

  • We have a St. Bernard at our daycare and she’s an older lady and it’s so hard to watch her get up and sometimes even stand. I always tell her “you deserve everything good B” St. Bernard have such a special place in my heart and it’s so sweet to see you groom such a gentle lady 🥰❤️ loved seeing her old lady trots

  • Thank you for the wonderful Spa day you gave Daisy. A lot of Groomers would not take on a job like her. It's great to see you have that special walk-in shower that can handle the Super large and/or elderly dogs like Daisy again wonderful job.
