We caught 100 salmon in 2 hours | Cast net fishing for sockeye
Here’s the reg for those who are interested.
www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/fi...
We traveled to Sweetheart creek to fill our freezers full of Sockeye Salmon. This is a trip we make once a year and we catch enough fish in an hour to feed our families for a year. There is only one problem and that is the bears are also fishing for sockeye at the same place. You are literally fishing with the bears.

What beautiful country. Safe and successful trip. Thanks so much for taking the time to share with us. Best wishes always.
Thank you D
The beauty and bounty of Alaska is amazing.
I totally agree
This is a great program , Thankyou Brian , Hisea , Steve and Captain Funk , epic scenery . Men having fun .
Thank you Robert we had such an amazing time. I’m just glad we got it on camera this time.
This is the most insane fishing ive ever seen. Great job guys!
Just incredible! Way to stock up on the Goods B! Fun and safe trip... can't ask for more! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks buddy. We had such a great trip. Glad we got it on film this year.
*An Alaska Homestead* Bravo well done, thank-you so much for taking the time to bring us along. God Bless.
Thank you for coming along. I’m just happy my SD cards didn’t get corrupted like last year.
Mm
another great video enjoyed seeing all that fishing look forward to the next one hope we can see what your garden did this year
Thank you Shirley. Sounds like it’s time for a garden update video👍
I'm a newcomer to your channel, and am loving trying to get caught up. My brothers and I fished Sweetheart Creek years ago, and it is so much fun to recall that experience as I watch this video. I stood at the base of the waterfall you can see upstream from where you're casting, fish so thick you felt as though you could walk across the water on their backs. We live in Wyoming, but my wife is from Juneau, and she's beginning to tire of me telling her to pack her things, which I've pretty much done non-stop since finding your channel. Such fun!
😂 that’s awesome.
Oh the giant fish, the natural scenery is so majestic
Great trip!! Beautiful fish and scenery!!
Thank you Donald
Wow Brain, This was another awesome video, enjoyed watching you all throwing your nets in and catching the fish...And all the scenery was beautiful...
Thank you Pat. It was an amazing day with amazing friends.
What a fishing trip. Salmon dinner for days is just perfect. Thanks for sharing a nice video. You guys are awesome!
Thanks
What a stunning looking creek and plenty of fish too!
Alaska is an amazing place with adventures around every corner.
That would be so much fun. I think you’d have ALMOST as much fun if you only caught a few fish. The river, wilderness, everything was and is just magical! I envy you my brother! I fished for salmon in Michigan rivers most of my life. (I’m 59) but the last almost 20 years I’ve lived in Australia, and miss my salmon rivers, and hunting.
That’s awesome. What made you move to Australia? I’ve always wanted to visit but never made it over there. We had a blast and you’re right I would have been just as fun if we only caught a few fish.
Beautiful!!! Thank for sharing with us your great outing from Central Florida.
Thank you Robert
Nice,.. When mother nature blesses you like this. Bon Appetit.
Thanks
So good to see you today. I have never seen fishing like that. Awesome. Fill up those freezers👍. Thank you for sharing. Say hi to Diana. Take care✌️🇺🇸
It’s a quick way to get a lot of fish. I’ll tell her hi for you.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead Thank you Brian👍
Wow!! What an awesome fishing trip. Every time the net was thrown into the water you caught salmon. I would have loved to be there. You have plenty of salmon to last for a while. You guys was fantastic, no injuries, no bears, just the water, you and the salmon. Great videos and thanks for sharing. Bye bye for now!!
It was an amazing time with two good friends. Can’t ask for more than that.
You guys are really living the dream! I love Castnet fishing. You got the trifecta there Alaska, Castnet fishing, sockeye salmon.👍🏼👍🏼
We feel blessed everyday.
This looks like 2nd lvl at Sweetheart Creek near Snettisham. What a great place to limit out on your favorite Sockeye salmon. Your spot is the best one for keeping the brown bears away from you and your catch.
So awesome! I was in Mackinac City, Michigan during the Alaskan King Salmon run. I was just camping with some friends but we went into town where the boats and men fishing were and i saw a guy walking with several HUGE salmon on a chain. I yelled over to him and said " you got some!" He said " Sure did...you want one?" Of course i said yes! i got about 10 really big fillets off that Salmon after i got it home. A friend knew someone who processed it for me for a few of the fillets! Was a beautiful thing☺ Good job fellas
That’s awesome. I love sparking yo great memories for people.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead I can truly say that was the best salmon i have ever had 💗
There is no Alaska Salmon in Lake Michigan, there is King Salmon, however.
@@tannenbaumgirl3100 They said They were Alaskan King...so that's what i called them. The King Salmon is the largest of the Alaskan species....so maybe that's why they called them that? IDK. There are 4 diff types of salmon in the great lakes...and they are all delish!
@@colleenc236 Thought you were talking about the Salmon run around Lake Michigan.
Looked like an amazing time. Stay safe and thanks for sharing!
We had a blast. Thank you guys.
Thanks Brian! You Three really nailed it, you will be eating really good for a long time, it was awesome to watch!👍👍👍✌
Thank you Frederick. We still need to get some coho and halibut.
As always, Great video! What a great experience.
Thank you Alana. We had a blast.
😮😮 Such an adventure…. Your getting so good at editing..!! Nice job you guys. Miss the place and the people already.👊
Definitely an adventure. We are just finishing up all the caning. I’ll give you a holler later.
Kids - "what are we having for dinner tonight?" Parents - "How about some salmon?" Kids - "FFS - not AGAIN!!!!"
Smoked salmon is a treat for me tbh
The Salmon they have in the grocery in the States is inedible, just nasty tasting like Striped bass.
Yikes salmon worms.
Great way to fill the freezer or can a ton of salmon! Thanks for taking us along.
That’s the truth
Good Haul 👍
Thank you 😊
Now that was one heck of a fishing trip! Gonna be some awesome eating going down! Thanks for the fishing trip. Stay safe and have a great week!
Thank you CB. We definitely brought back some fish on that trip. We always do. You guys take care.
at 5:45 when he says I got a nightmare about this spot I felt that.....That same nightmare happened to me a few years back a super high tide rolled in and popped my anchor and luckily I was able to catch a ride to my boat before it took the turn to the Whiting river entrance. Great video my friend keep up the awesome content!
😂 I’ll show this to Funk. He drug an anchor on night and had to go find his boat. Hope you and the fam are doing good.
Well done! Absolutely gorgeous scenery! Not sure I would have scrambled right up in there w that bear around!! 🫣🐻
They typically stick to themselves. That bear must have been really hungry for those peoples fish.
That is one epic place! Magical! Thanks for showing it!
Magical is that a great choice of words. Thanks for watching.
Yall are living the life I dream of but was never able to live beings my wife and kids aren't into the natural and off grid homesteading life but we all make sacrifices for your families and that was mine great video yall
I hear you. Fortunately for me my wife was totally on board for this.
Amazing! That's a great freezer full of good stuff! You had a beautiful day and great success! And no bear. Steve's poor hands! What's your favorite way to make salmon? I like brown sugar and honey. Have a great week!
Brown sugar and honey is delicious
This was One Hell of a Fishing Trip, Oh How, I wish I could have been along for this Adventure of a Life Time, Wonderful, Fun Video
Thanks Robert, it was a great trip.
That was a great day 👍🏻 I really like the looks of those waders. Could really use those here river fishing. Awesome video
We had a blast. The waders worked out great for us.
These guys are living life!
Trying to👍
Looked like a good time & filled the pantry. 👍 I love Salmon. My daddy use to fish for the silver kings when I was growing up. (In Washington state)
We still need to get a few coho and some halibut for the year but this definitely fills up the pantry. One thing I love about making videos is bringing back fond memories for others. 👍
@@AnAlaskaHomestead yes it sure does bring up fond memories for sure.
Like 👍 Wow! Amazing and fantastic sharing friend
Thank you
Well done Guys! What a great day fishing. I call that living Free
Hey Rich. That was a great day with friends.
Your videos remind me of Simple Living Alaska. It would be fun to see a lot of the Alaskan homesteaders some kind collaboration.
We did a collab a few years ago before their channel blew up. Ryan and Von from Wildwood off grid Alaska have some stuff in the works. They may come down here this winter and I my go up their for a moose hunt next year. I hope everything works out.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead go up there? You an Alaskan wannabe huh???
Glad you got them so fast. It looked like you were going to be sore the next day though because it was so fast. Do you give the unusable parts to the chickens ? Great that you got a sponsor !!! I was wondering if you had to shoot a bear what happens ? Do you get to keep it for the meat ? Diana was probably sore but happy as well canning all those fish. I don’t remember you showing us your smoker set up. Thanks for sharing. CONGRATULATIONS !!
We will be using the carcass for crab bait and the heads will go on the halibut skate. We take both bear spray and a pistol for a last resort tool. The answer is no it’s a pain if you have to shoot a bear out of season. Lots of work and paperwork and you can’t keep any of the bear. We will show some caning and smoking with some coho. We were in mass production mode😂 trying to get all the fish knocked out before the ice melted in the cooler. We are both pretty tired😂
Fake news We don’t have like this in the desert So it must be fake !! Iam so jealous

It won’t be long before there is nothing left
Once apon a time I did a bit of part time eel fishing in New Zealand, 1989 to 2008. Few months each summer never more than 6 ton a year (6,000 kg). It fitted in well with the off season for main job trapping fur. Eel fished in very similar types of stream using fyke nets. Some times in waders, often no waders, very selective where I would use the waders as if you fell into a stream like the one shown & they filled with water you could not move in them or swim, like being in a straight jacket in water. Where the men were casting from would be a spot I'd not risk standing in waders! Too dangerous! Had a couple of very close calls in such spots myself. I Slipped in the water in waders. Once with 100 kg of live eels tied to me (in 15 kg mesh bags). Once with a net & net setting tools in hand. If you do that in waders & live like I did you tend to 1) Believe in God 2) Never ever risk a repeat performance! & If I was catching those salmon I would have for sure used the waders in the shallow bits, sure, but taken them off, left the boots on, to do the casting! As to those eels, here in NZ Government regulation has destroyed the commercial eel fishery. No problem to catch a 100 kg a day. But legal regulations make it near impossible to harvest or farm them. It should be a billion dollar farming industry here as we have massive amounts of elvers (unlike the rest of the world) plus heaps of water on our farms with a million farm ponds empty of farmed fish. A heap of free meat (wild pest animals like deer turkey canadan geese possum wallaby). But OUR VERY Different fishing laws; if you throw a cast net over salmon, here in NZ, were we have your King Salmon. Then you would likely go to jail or at the very least pay thousands of dollars in fines for doing so!
Now that's called fishing for food !!! Great video of the process of cast netting!!!
Wow! What an awesome haul! Definitely worth the hike for a reward like that! 🎊🍾🎉
That is for sure. One day gives us fish for a year. Can’t beat that.
Once I finish nursing school I plan on living up there for a bit! Idk if I’ll live there my whole life but I want to try that lifestyle before I die
Alaska always needs nurses so you’ve picked the right profession.
How incredibly ideal that whole situation was! What a trip!
Thanks KBC
This was a lot of fun great job catching those fish. The surrounding are beautiful
Thank you
Wow! Nice catch. I have visions of huge platters of fried fish. 😊. Wish I had a couple of those beauties!
I love HiSea products! Great that they sponsored you.
We’ve worked with them before and their products hold up very well.
Thanks, you guys sure were lucky. ✌🏻👊
Definitely brought the fish home that day.
Great fishing day. You 3 did well! And no bears this time to worry about!
Thank you Pat. We had such a good time and coming back with a full load of fish is always a good day.
Fantastic friends !! Fantastic sponsors !! Fantastic video !! Living the Dream !! Cheers from POW !
Definitely a worthwhile trip. Plus it’s just a great time fishing with these two guys. Hopefully your freezer is getting full👍
Next you guys need to go after some black cod..hopefully with electric reels..Mmm butter fish !!

Great video Brian! What a fun day. I used to love fishing there. You know they’re in thick when you’re hauling in 2 and 3 at a time.😁 see you next time.
Man it’s so much fun up there. This was my second trip and I look forward to many more trips with the Steves.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead I bet the bears were hunting for kings or silvers, more meat and fat for them. The bears know where to get those. Follow the bears!
Great, now I want salmon for breakfast.

Great catch guys! What a beautiful place.
Southeast Alaska is a beautiful place. We love it here.
Wow... that is fishing at its best! Have a super week!
I thought you’d like it. Hope you have a great week too.
Love to watching fishing videos, I've been fishing for, well never mind how long 🤪, but never salmon, usually pike, trout, muskie, bullheads. Matter of fact took the grandkids fishing today, comical the grandsons ( ages 12 & 14) didn't catch any, but our granddaughter (11) caught 5 😂 and the boys were not happy at least we don't have to compete with bears yikes.. Congratulations on your catch. Be Blessed. 😊🇺🇲
Sounds like you all had a great day out on the water. Maybe not the grandsons😂 Hope you have a great evening with the family.
Looks dangerous! You gotta know what your doing ! Awesome video

Fantastic and interesting video, thank you so much and congratulations with all your salmons.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day. No one else was there and we didn’t have any bear run ins. The crew that got there after us did though.
You guys are living the good life.
That looked like alot of fun but yet hard work. You three did real good.
Thank you. That may have been the easy part. For the next day and a half we processed the fish.
Well those fish were beautiful. My sister loves salmon. Me not so much. I guess I need to meet a pure bred Alaskan who knows how to cook salmon the right way over a hot open camp fire 🔥.
