I’ve made many of he same items you have made, anthology throw, purl soho 1/2 and 1/2 , dumpling the bag, a ranunculous, etc. love your Ilha sweater, looks like a fun knit. Will have to try Line, sounds like a nice yarn to work with. Also love your Steven west shawl, I gave up on that one but your color combo worked!

  • Bobbi, just found your podcast a few days ago and so enjoy. I put the Ilha top on my next make list. I promised I’d finish my Heya tank. I saw in one of Ravelry’s finished projects where someone had added a lace hem and I loved it. I pulled out my Japanese Knitting Stitch book and added only one repeat of patten 64. So easy to follow and added some pizazz to the tank. I’ve just split for the armholes, may add one motif to the center front near neckline. Another Japanese book is Keiko Okamoto’s Japanese Knitting Stitches. (More colorwork,texture and some patterns). Also a great Symbol section in the back. I’m now very motivated to finish so I can start my Ilha top! Susie

Anyhow the black I planned to knit a short sleeve Ranunculus….but after watching your video I’m seriously considering the Ilha… love the similar lace yoke and even more I love the side seam details ❣️I was going to risk not swatching probably for the first time ever and I was very curious how the Line would block out and if it would grow… so thank you very much for sharing your modification on the side seam with decreases… I’ll check out your Ravelry page for sure😍thank you for a great episode Bobbi💖

    • Hello! I truly love my Ilha Sweater. Thank you for the kind comments. Since I choose to knit with the Sandnes Garn Line yarn, which is considered a worsted weight yarn, my sweater was going to be a little wide. If I had knit a size 1 instead the fit would have been just right without having to have decreased any stitches. If you knit the Ilha, check your gauge first which is what I should have done. Lol. • Hello! I just got some great information from a viewer saying a designer, Sari Nordlund, has patterns on Ravelry using some of the stitches from the 250 Stitches Japanese book. I think this would be a great way to learn how to knit these stitches without having to try to decipher the charts in the book . I found 2 patterns I’ll link for you that use the Japanese stitches techniques. You might want to look through her patterns to see if there are more than the 2 patterns I found. I’m surprised that she hasn’t made more podcasts as she has been around for some time. In fact I met her around 10 years ago at the opening of her friend’s yarn shop! She is Canadian I believe, but has lived in Scotland for a long time now and is pretty well known in the UK. I liked that sweatshirt-style jumper she was wearing. I was chuckling at you saying “I’ll talk about this, or I’ll talk about that” and I must admit I hadn’t even noticed! I like the way you “talk about” things, so no problems here. 😅

  • Hi from California! First of all, I love your videos! Everything you make is so pretty! ❤ Second, I have that book and I have tried a couple of the stitch patterns. It's really amazing and there's such a variety. However, I have found a couple mistakes in the symbol guide. Hopefully you have a newer version. On mine on page 12, the stitch symbol 2nd from the bottom is exactly the same as the symbol on the top of page 13, but they're different stitches. The same mistake can be found on page 19 between the top symbol and the 5th one down. I've only tried a couple of these patterns, so just be careful. The mistakes, fortunately, have at least been easy to catch so far. The pictures really help so you know if a single stitch should be a purl or knit. Happy knitting 😊

    • Thank you Leah for the review of the Japanese Stitches book. I will look out for the mistakes on pages 12, 13 and 19. • Hello Debbie. The yarn I chose is a thicker fingering weight. I also knit with size US 9 needles instead of the US 10 needles. Both of these choices gave me a more fitted Ranunculus. I also used the long tail cast on for the neckband, which is a really easy cast on. Here is a link to the Ranunculus Assistance playlist. These videos helped me when I knit my first Ranunculus. I have made it twice but made short-sleeved dresses using the pattern. That braid down the side is such a gorgeous detail. I really enjoy your aesthetic. I have a KZhead channel as well where I put out weekly podcasts and tutorials. I think you might like it. It is called Mostly Knitting and I am tashbalaz on ravelry. Looking forward to watching more of your episodes from here in Sydney, Australia. Have a great week. :)

  • WIPs: two pair of socks for me, a pair of socks for my husband, Corran cardigan in short sleeves, Pi tank, winter Ranunculus, Musselburgh (purse knitting) and 1/2 and 1:2 triangle. I always have at least two pair of socks on the needles. As you can tell, I am NOT a monogamous knitter. 😊

    • Oh my gosh Deborah, you really do love to knit. Being surrounded by wips sounds like heaven to me! I have also purchased the Corran Cardigan. I think I’ll knit the v neck short sleeve version of the Corran. Thank you so much for commenting, I always love to hear what everyone is knitting. Thank you for watching my little podcast! Have a wonderful day! 😊❤️

    • Hi Barbara! Thank you for telling me about the Joni Tee. I went on Ravelry, it’s beautiful. The peach tank behind me is called the Sunshine Bliss Tank Top by Rhonda Yerxa. It’s a test knit I had done for Rhonda a couple months ago. It is knit with We Are Knitters The Cotton in the color Light Salmon. Thank you so much for watching and thank you for taking the time to comment! 😊❤️

  • Hello from South Australia. Is the sports weight chosen to compensate for the colourwork which needs to be looser? Knitting the No. 12 sweater by my favourite things. But knitting with a fleece yarn 3-4ply. So knitting with 2 strands and one strand of mohair. So its a thicker knit. As not able to get gauge. Can the Ranunculus be knitted in any gauge yarn? As I have more of the 3-4ply.

  • Love this pattern! The prononciation is Ilyah. Do you think it is good for learning like the Ranunculus? Thank you for sharing, watching from under my wool blankets in the South of Brazil, very cold here.

    • Hello! All the way from Brazil! So good to meet you. Yes, I think this a good pattern for learning new stitch combinations. The pattern is well written and easy to understand. I truly love this pattern just as much as I love the Ranunculus. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! Keep warm under your wooly knits. Have a wonderful weekend! 😊❤️

  • LOVE your Ilha top❤ I have knit with this yarn before and liked it too. If you don’t mind, I have a question regarding knitting with cotton yarn since you are a very experienced knitter. When you pick up the sleeve stitches, in the transition from the stitches on the needle and the stitches you pick up at the underarm there are always stretched out stitches - at least for me - and they are more stretched out with cotton yarn than a merino yarn. Is there a trick to avoid this from happening ? Christine

    • Hello! Thank you for the complement! I love the Ilha Sweater too. Gaps under the sleeves of top down raglan sweaters will always happen because you are changing the direction of your knitting. Here is a good video explaining how to close the gaps. It’s an easy fix. The only thing I do differently than the video is I duplicate stitch the gap on the wrong side of the knitted fabric. That is a great question. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! 😊❤️ kzhead.info/sun/g8dtdc2RimNteok/bejne.html

  • 😮Hi Bobbi, thanks for the Ihla info. Would it work with mohair and skinny alpaca too ? Looks fab on you. Did you double the yoke also ? 🥨🍻

    @fionasteinbrecht60@fionasteinbrecht6010 ай бұрын
    • Hello Fiona! I think the mohair and alpaca would be beautiful. If you go to Ravelry and search Ilha Yarn Suggestions you’ll probably find if anyone else has tried that yarn combination. For my sweater I knit with Sandnes Garn Line which is considered a lightweight worsted yarn. So I held the yarn single throughout the whole project. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! 😊❤️

  • Were you thinking of Sari Nordlund? I know she uses the Japanese Knitting Stitches in her designs.

    @verylikecheryl@verylikecheryl10 ай бұрын
    • Hello! Oh, I didn’t realize Sari Nordlund uses Japanese stitches in her patterns. I’ll definitely have to knit some of her patterns using theses stitches. That would be a great way to understand how to read charts using Japanese stitches. Thank you so much for telling me about Sari’s patterns! The podcaster I was thinking about has also designed 2 hat patterns using Japanese stitches, is Tara Kennon. Her podcast is Loop Thru A Loop. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment. You made my day!! 😊❤️
