The fact that the fold lived through a year of Linus use speaks volumes
On the other hand, the fact that his looks this terrible after only a year is absurd. Phones should last 4-5 years, 3 at minimum.
@@daylen577 not in Linus hands
@@CarlosLins1 As funny as it is to beat on him for dropping stuff, he takes ten times better care of his stuff than the average person does. I've seen non-foldable phones look worse after less than a year. The only significant blemish on his Fold is the crease, and that's outside of his control.
He probably killed at least 2 of them.
Doesn't look bad considering a vinyl wrap has been its only defense for a year.
10:54 That additional shutter button is actually a feature of OneUI. You can place that extra shutter to provide easier access while clicking photos. It can be removed by simply dragging it on top of tha main shutter.
How does he daily drive the phone and yet he doesn't know that? Matter of fact he's daily driven a Samsung phone for years it's baffling he doesn't know it's a feature
@@defnotatroll same with the saturation 2mins earlier..

@@pandapolygon that as well yeah I was yelling "screen modes!" in my head
@@defnotatroll maybe he uses another camera app than the standard Samsung one, such as OpenCamera.
The reason why you didn't get a 3x zoom option in the camera app is because you used 3:4 50 mp mode, meaning that everything that you shoot comes from the 50mp sensor. Click on the 3:4 icon and change it to the regular 3:4 instead of the 50mp one. You'll get the option to use the ultrawide and the 3x optical zoom. The pictures that you showed were not from the 3x optical zoom sensor.
Thank you, that was frustrating to watch.
still this should be more clearly pointed out somehow in the camera app
@@suomipoeka when you're in 50mp mode you'll only use the 50mp camera...shouldn't that be obvious?
This proves the point, that it should be more clear. Your reply sounded like something I’d hear in a university class.
@@skybuilding5182 its pretty logical to me. If there's only 1 50mp camera, how could it use the other shooters
10:44 The second shutter button it's actually a feature. It can be moved around on the screen for better accessibility.
it is a feature in Samsung phone for many generations already!!
And it is not limited to the top shelf models! All models have this feature.
This particular one is in fact a bug as I have seen the same thing happen on an M20. 🫠 The second camera button cannot be moved over the main button as far as I'm aware. A relaunch of the camera app fixes it.
I thought it was a bug on my s10 and got so annoyed. I still can't figure out how to turn it off
@@Zender- it’s a bug in this particular case.
13:34 If you want to use the other lenses you have to change the aspect ratio to the regular 4:3 and not the 4:3(50MP) as that mode only uses the main shooter to capture maximum resolution photos, it works the same on my s21U except it's 4:3(108MP)
On the same topic, the double shutter button is their movable shutter that makes one handed pictures easier. You can get rid of it by dragging the second shutter back onto the main one, or just disabling it in settings.
Yes! I was about to comment this but you beat me to it.
Exactly! I was silently screaming at my phone at work. XD
Yeah I was screaming when I saw that but I get this is just a first impression rather than a full review.
yea thats what i noticed
10:43 the second capture button appears when you drag away from the main capture button. You can move it wherever you want, very helpful for one handed use. Not a bug.
sheeeshh i just realize that, lmeo im also thought its a bug xD
Not a bug, but it looks like whoever first used the phone left it on top of the permanent shutter button.
Yeah even my s10 has that feature, it's been around for years. Comes in handy sometimes.
I have a samsung as well and wasn't aware of this feature. This actually a game changer for taking photos using one hand. I don't need to do the hand yoga anymore.🤣
Definitely helps when it comes to taking photos and moving the camera lenses around. Sometimes I hold my phone upside-down for the best camera shot and can still hold the phone comfortably and move the camera button to me
I loved the immediate realization when he said "warranty nonsense" like "Oh crap I have to watch what I say (more than usual) right now!"
yeah, that immediate realization.... after the cut :D
it is in the video to give this impression, since it was not edited out

The fact about the zoom is that it was using main camera to zoom. As it was set to 50mp it doesn't allow you to switch lenses. So bringing down to normal 4:3 or 12mp mode it would work as we expect to.
Yeah rookie mistake lol
would’ve made sense if it let you use optical zoom tho
@@alyx6427 yeah but then the photo wouldn't be 50mp, the S21 and S22 ultra only let you zoom in 6x in 108mp mode

Fold 4 shows that lack of true competition is stifling innovation in the foldable phone form factor.
Have you seen any innovation in any other form factor?
except there is, iirc Vivo did a foldable phone for like 1400$ in fact I was wondering if FINALLY we would see Linus reviewing it but I guess it still a no, quite unfortunate since we got to see it here in europe 3 months ago. Maybe it's not available in NA ? well I'm waiting for a comparison because it seems like you can't see the crease on the Vivo X Fold and it's bigger which makes more sense when it's folded.
@@YOEL_44 foldable phones are still in their infancy so it should be expected that each iteration would change more compared to the more mature conventional mobile phone.
Yeah , samsung is the only mainstream company doing foldable so needless to say they are the only one innovating ,
Lack of demand = lack of competition.
Definitely agree on using the small screen more. A week in of having the Fold 4 I've probably used the small screen 75% of the time, but being able to open to a small tablet when I want to relax and read something is a great feeling
I upgraded from the 3 to the 4 (primarily for the free watch and new buds) and the biggest things for me are the bigger front screen and the fact that the 4 feels like 10000 lbs lighter in my hand and pocket.
I'm still on the 2 , Funny that people worry for its durability and yet I throw it around for 2 years + and its still going strong apart from the battery life now
Not the case for me. I do use the small outer screen, but by far not as much as the inner screen. Typing on the small screen is bearable but I don't like how flimsy the layout of most apps is. Thus, I usually open it to use the inner screen. Especially for reading, it's incredible.
It is ❤️
I have the 21 ultra and I love the ultrasonic fingerprints sensor and it works better than several regular fingerprint sensors although be it they were slightly older fingerprints sensors.
Had mine a month, Never go back to ifone stuff . With a few adjustments, end of day is about 30% or more charge left ,,and lots of screen time done . Love it to bits
With the camera zoom problem, if you press the "4:3 50MP" and switch to just"4:3" it should work. Also, the 2 shutter buttons are not a bug, it's a feature you can enable that means you can choose were to place a second shutter button. Hope this helps :)
Honestly this makes me think if his channel really is "tech tips"🤦
And they plan on opening labs soon? I know Linus is getting the first look and maybe phones aren’t his main suit, but this has been a feature since the S20. Though to be fair this is a first on folding Samsungs to venture past 12 MP sensors. But yes it’s the 10MP sensor that’s actually a 3x optical, not the 50mp main.

This point, I feel like it’ll be mostly iterative updates until Samsung figures out how to get rid of the crease. That said, I was hoping for more of an improvement with the inside front-facing camera.
They actually can get rid of the crease it'll just come at a cost of no water resistance. Unless you know of a better way to remove it then don't worry about it.
@@tristenwilliams558 Hopefully future technology can make it to where that sacrifice isn’t necessary, but I’m fine with what we have for now.
It will be solved with rollables, its not even worth the effort for this design as rollables could even come next year.
It was improved. It is supposedly harder to notice than the previous generation while maintaining the image quality (or lack thereof). It is designed for video calling and conferencing and it is completely serviceable in that regard. Want a better selfie? Then use the front camera while folded. Or even better, unfold the phone and flip it around so you can use the main cameras for even better quality.
@GH0STST4RSCR34M Oppo Find N, Moto Razr, Xiaomi Fold 2 etc all fold in half, & they all use Samsung displays. They've sacrificed water resistence though.
Other than the wear on my flip3's finish, the phones been amazing. Keep in mind though if you work around metal working, the magnets can attract metal shavings and stick to the magnets that keep the screen closed and potentially kill the display.
I'm sure someone else said it already, but the reason there are two shudder buttons is so you can move one to a more convenient place. You can also auto shutter in selfie mode with an open palm. Pretty thoughtful considering how shaky we can be when we press.
50MP is only the main sensor. The rest are not 50MP just set to 4:3 (non 50 MP) and you'll have the other lens options.
The software should make this distinction invisible to the user. It should choose the appropriate lens/sensor for whatever you're doing.
@@TalesOfWar also it should never be on 50mp mode by default, then it would always dinamically switch 50mp mode is worse 90% of the time anyway

As far as I know the "V" shape comes from dust entering the hinge and gets stuck there. There's no way to remove it so it isn't able to unfold completely after some time. Both mine ended up like that.
Mine's like that too, i just have to crank it a little more to have it completely flat
i think its true, as i went to the beach about 2 months ago, and now my fold 2 has a V

i've seen on our insider spreadsheets for new folds that both screen are actually 100nits brighter than previous generations, also the main screen now goes down to 1hz and not 10hz like in previous series

Hey Linus, I also have the fold 4 If you are in 50MP mode, it locks in the main camera no matter what zoom you are using And the main camera selfie mode has a terrible lag on the cover display
Genuine question here @Olly As someone that has noticed the steady incline of MSRP costs for smartphones since their inception, and quality control becoming much broader in terms of what's included in devices, what is it that draws you to an ABSOLUTELY brand new device, that costs around 2,000 USD (and more) from a series that has been known to be plagued with issues? Are the bleeding edge features much more prominent than downfalls? I'm not even gonna pretend I know what it's like having a PHONE with 12gb of RAM, and a mobile GPU that's arguably the strength of a GTX 960.

I don't get it they literally come down in price every single year and Linus basically said they're exactly the same so why not go to eBay and buy one for $900-1000 brand new Fold3?
I was this way about the s22 ultra but at the end of the day as someone who switches between Apple and Samsung flagships every year, I really do appreciate the fact that my iPhone works 98% of the time. When I purchased my s21 ultra I was unbelievably disappointed in how inconsistent Android is, to no surprise.
I love it when the finger sensor is built into the power button.

From 12:39, comparing the cameras on the fold 4. The reason why u couldn't switch the lenses is because u were using the full 50mp at 3:4, if u switched to the regular 3:4 it starts to use pixel binning for the main sensor and also allows u to use other lenses for zooming. It's a similar feature u can use on the s21 ultra where u switch to full 108mp, 3:4 and then u can't use any other lense

I find I use the inner screen much more. Only really use the outer screen for quickly reading txt, notifications, calls and my bank app. Pretty much everything else I will open it up. The fold 4 is my first fold and LOVING it, don't think I will be able to go back to a normal phone. Just hope apps get better. I plan on trying to use my fold as a second m9nitor for my laptop on my next trip, if it works and we'll it could be an awesome use case. I have had an ipad for years, but never use it as its never nearby when I need it, end up just using my phone or going to the pc/grabbing the laptop, now I don't need to.
I bought a Fold 3 based on reviews from Linus and others and can safely say its the best phone i've ever owned. Having the ability to use the front screen like a normal phone, then immediately open up to the inside screens to show my aging parents photo's or even just to watch a video is something i never want to loose. something to keep in mind, the hinge feel between a daily driven 3 and a brand new 4 is hard to compare. my 3 when it was new was stiff as a board. now, it's quite a bit softer than what it used to be. either we need to compare brand new to brand new, or compare both after being broken in.
Same goes for the crease. How can he compare a brand new Fold 4 crease to a year old Fold 3?

Own a Fold 4. The colour difference is a setting in the phone, you can get that pastel saturation like on Linus' old phone with a button press. Battery life is better than his stated for the Fold 3, the CPU is more efficient in standby. Took me a while to realise you have to enable fast charging on cable in the settings though, charge time kind of sucks ~2h for something lasting a day. Wireless charging consistently fails, the point on the phone where you get the sweet spot is really hampered by the camera bump. So waking up with a phone at like 10% charge and then having to wait 2 hours isn't a good experience.
2 hours is a long time. Is that how long it takes to get to 100%? Is there a higher wattage adapter one can use to bump the charge time down?
Try a different wireless charger. I have purchased this model - Wireless Charger Dock Fast Charging Stand with Cooling Fan for iPhone Samsung - Its a nice dock that has given me no issues with my Z Fold 4.
The phone does not take 2 hrs to charge thats wildy inaccurate

If you're using 4:3 50MP then you are using the main Wide camera, to use 3x optical you have to switch over to regular 4:3 (12MP?) and then you have the option to select 3x. If you're telling the camera app you want 50MP, it won't know "Ok NOW I want 10MP 3x optical"
@ShortCircuit the two shutter buttons is not a bug, its an options in settings. You can move the 2nd shutter button to anywhere on the screen to make it easier to take photo if you have small hands or something.

After a weekend of moving over to the fold 4, I've been really happy with the folded closed experience on the fold, I feel like its a galaxy s10e like screen and It does the job for day to day texting. Best part of the fold 4 is the most underated part, the fold being wider and shorter on the outside means the inner screen gets TWO wider/shorter screens to work with, multi-tasking is amazing even more so now than before. It used to feel like I had 2 sides of a super tall janky screen, but now I have 2 galaxy s10e's glued together which makes things much more enjoyable.. Media consumption has gotten better on the tiktok side of things at least, as well as instagram, both have new features (i imagine will come to the fold 3).
If I had one of those I think I would use the small screen most of the day, then use the tablet style screen at home or on my break at work. So the small screen is very important imo.

It looks like the shorter fold4 suffers from wider black bars on the top and bottom of the video in landscape mode. When zooming in to blow the image up you lose more of the sides of the image. How does making it more square improve the aspect ratio? Seems like they made it worse.
To clarify, the duplicated capture button in the camera app is a feature. You can slide it anywhere, so you don't have to reach for the original capture button. You can toggle it from settings, but it has been removed in OneUI 5 beta as far as I can tell in my S22 Ultra.

I'm new to foldables having just bought the Fold 4. What an amazing form factor for consuming content. Total game changer and I'm all for it. It's a little weighty and thick when folded but I otherwise love it and will happily daily drive it. What I can't stand are the case options. I typically armor out my phones but you can't really do that with the Fold unless you make some annoying compromises. I hate adhesive use with most front face covers, having to carry a chunky S pen separately makes a chunky phone even chunkier, hinge covers either will not close by itself or magnets will do it but leave a dead spot when using the pen over the magnet regions, hinge covers block a portion of the front face for main camera selfies, wireless charging won't function with certain pen locations, fabric pen holders will get stretched by pen tips, etc. I ended up getting a knock off S View cover since they don't make an official one (so no S View functionality or S pen slot 😟). Eh...
Same. Best phone I have ever owned.

@@davetechme I've had no issue at all. Also, the pen is kept internally in the hinge cover. Even if one did break, it would probably still stay inside the cover. And even that seems unlikely, since the plastic is softer and not brittle.
Ironically watching this on my new Fold4, and I have to say I love it. Media consuming is just on a whole new level over my previous non folding phone.
The fold series is such a banger - you just know if Apple released the same thing but with an apple logo on the back, influencers and news outlets would be raving about it nonstop
Exactly. Samsung is kicking Apple's ass and nobody is talking about it. Apple is so far behind. I used the iPhone 6S since 2015 and switched to Samsung this year and I'm so happy about it.
Yes, but Apple would charge 3K for it :)
An Apple foldable would be so much better than a Samsung foldable tho.... Especially for designing things.
@@BlackParade01 if apple brought out an foldable it would have the same specs as the fold 2 like they do with the iPhones there phones are always 2 years behind all the rest
@@Adam-uz9sc that's funny, because the iPhone's chipset is literally YEARS ahead of any Android flagship chipset. Also, they have literally the best display, with Dolby Vision and 2000 NITS! Samsung is the one trailing behind. It's 2022 and Samsung flagships still don't even have Dolby Vision
You have to select 4:3 mode to access the 3x camera. It's same for S22 ultra's 3x and 10x
loving mine so far. I suggest get the case and front screen protector for it, make sure the case covers the hinge.
This seems to be the common denominator with people having issues - dbrand having their case with a hinge cover sounds like all you need to protect it.
About the crease: according to other tech tubers the crease is necessary to get the IPX8-rating. If I'd use a foldable I'd prefer IPX8 over creasefree display. About battery: the new processor is so much better in energy efficiency that the fold 4 outlasts the the S22Ultra in movie-playback endurance test, despite the S22 having a smaller screen and a 5000mAh battery compared to the 4400mAh of the fold4. I have to admit that I'm not sure how this translate everyday-usage.
Where? Who said that about the crease? I watch a lot of tech yt and I haven't heard a single one give this explanation
toss the source of the tech tubers?
I've gotten a consistent 6-10 hours of SoT since I received my Fold 4 on Tues. It's very impressive
@@Lucid_XP I saw it in a video from TechTalkTV with the title "Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 - We finally Know Why Samsung Let Oppo And Xiaomi Win". Not using a fold3 or 4 doesn't mean I don't know how the crease looks. My partner had the fold3 and switched to a fold4 and I stand with my statement that for me IPX8-rating is better than a crease-free display.
@@alexk.1168 gotchu, and I wasn't doubting you I was genuinely just curious to know more
Just bought the fold 4. I held out for it, and the front screen was a deciding factor for me. That little bit of new real estate seemed worth the wait. That being said I'd love to know what keyboard Linus uses. I'm sure I'll improve but my typos are through the roof on the front screen. Also, I've been waiting for his review. I'd already made the decision to purchase as I also believe in the form factor but I haven't had the luxury of daily driving one. I'm truly looking forward to it. I'd appreciate any pointers.
Have you tried using swipe on gboard? Once you get used to it, it's amazingly efficient with minimal typos
He uses the default samsung keyboard
I also found gboard to be the most versatile on both cover and inner screens. It was the best one on the ZF3 because it handled the narrower screen a little better than Sammy's own (better height adjustment options in gboard).
I switched to Gboard on my Fold 4 and I much prefer the split layout on it. The keys are aligned on a nearly ortholinear grid there which makes it much nicer to use (for me). I occasionally swipe type on it with one finger, but usually type with both thumbs.
I ways open my fold to type. Linus says he dislikes typing on the split keyboard, but i prefer it.
Been having my Fold 4 for a couple of days and I'm loving it. Never have I owned a foldable device so I gotta say this one met every expectation that I have for a foldable phone. It's true Fold 3 to Fold 4 isn't a huge improvement but if this is your first foldable phone, Fold 4 rocks!
I've had mine a couple hours,stoked

Since you were in 50 megapixel mode all of your photos were using the main sensor. You have to select the normal "4:3" aspect ratio so that the telephoto is used (and that way you'll have the options to switch lenses like you had in video mode)
One of the "two" camera "buttons" is an option even on the Note 9. One is fixed and the other you can move around or choose to turn off in options.
Floating shutter button, it turned on my s20 after an update and i literally just figured out how to turn it off a few weeks ago
... I think I had this on my S2.
@@alexandermackinnon7596 It can be really useful depending on how you hold the phone and what you are shooting I've found so glad it is an option.
5:57 My S21 Ultra's fingerprint scanner actually works very well in my opinion, although I do feel like my OnePlus 7 Pro's was slightly faster. It's very reliable (even in rough conditions) and pretty fast.
The onscreen fingerprint scanner is my favorite thing when it comes to my s20 FE, I would hate to lose that especially because now I hardly ever use my power button.
@@johnellis8401 same with mine, it's amazingly fast and works almost everytime
Ultrasonic FP works even with moisture on my thumb. I checked that. Was not a thing with side or back mounted ones I have used in the past.
Ditto, i always had issues with "classic" fingerprint readers but unless my hands are dirty my ultrasonic one works almost 100% of the time
It's super fast and reliable on my s22 ultra
I've kept my fold 3 in power saving from the day I bought it. This keeps it running throughout the day, no problem. It is still plenty fast
Yeah, I don't have the "V" folding problem either after a full year of use - I wonder what everyone else is doing to their phones
Setup a Bixby routine to go into power saving mode at 30% and that solves battery problem. You are welcome.
1:15 Ah sweet victory! Looks like we were able to beat it into him xD
Tip for the underscreen fingerprint readers... Put each fingerprint that you want to use into it 2x each. That way you are MUCH more likely to have it read correctly on the first shot.
That's true even with not underscreen.
Whenever i try that i get a "fingerprint already exists" popup
@@woutchauvaux6672 just try to rotate the finger slightly
Still rocking the Note9 with a headphone jack and microSD card that I use pretty often. However, the fold phone looks really awesome.
same here, might get something like Fold3 refurbished it they are this mature already
I have the fold 3 and I'm switching to and iPhone for a couple years and the. I will check back on the fold 6 which should be so much better then where we are now. Great first look / review!
I kind of agree with the concept. I like the idea of a larger screen as you need it. But I feel like the folding action itself is kind of a self destructive process. Let's see a roll out screen like the global link in Earth Final Conflict.
I love my fold 3, fold 4 wasn't enough for me to spend 800 (after trade in and pre order) for an upgrade.
Same here. Just got mine in March. I was disappointed until I saw this video.
Also same here!
never seen a video posted 10 seconds ago
Of course not, you're too busy commenting on videos you haven't watched yet.
I have the under screen fingerprint sensor on my S22 Ultra and its excellent, certainly a big step up from the first edition of the ultrasonic sensor on my old Note 20 Ultra. Worth noting I also crank the screen sensitivity. Also the main 108MP shooter doesn't have the same zoom options as the other standard pic modes, not sure if its the same on the Fold.
Yeah I don't understand the hate for it. I never had to tap my finger on my S10 Plus more than once in the location is so much more convenient than the power button.
100% Feel Linus on the work it takes to get setup on a new device, or to start fresh on a device that may just be acting up after updates. They can have all the backup software included they want, outside of full root access and being able to Titanium Backup and Restore, you almost always, always have to Download, login, 2FA, ETC and it will be a multi hour event unless you just don't use very many apps. Also I have to say I am getting slightly more tempted little by little for one of these foldables, just for the usefulness and overall different sake as I continue to DD a LG Wing that, while not Top Tier hardware spec wise, the dual screen is still super useful especially when traveling, and the overall phone continues to work extremely well for most all my use cases even though I have a Pixel 6 sitting unused with its better screen refresh, camera performance, and overall SoC performance. But the Wing just has me hooked and damn do I wish LG was around to make a Wing 2 with possibly better specs. The only thing that I wish it didn't have was that dang curved edge screen.. Ugh that is a "Design Feature" that needs to die forever.
I tried the fold 4 out in a Best Buy the other day. I've tried other folding phones before like the older z flips and z folds. The screen on this phone and the z flip 4 feel remarkably like glass. Obviously they are still mostly plastic and are almost as fragile as plastic, but the feeling is uncanny. If feels exactly like glass. It's a small thing, but super impressive in my opinion.
I will be impressed when that crease goes away

Linus ain't really the sharpest tool in the shed, I reckon
I've been driving one for 3 days or so now and this is w/o a doubt my favorite phone yet
definitely hope that this phone line isnt niche enough that they decide to stop it cause i definitely think that in a few more generations fold 5, 6, 7 etc i definitely feel like the crease will get better and less noticeable and that the front screen gets slightly bigger. i saw a folding phone that had a regular screen on it
I don’t think they’d have made it to a 4th generation if it were still widely seen as a gimmicky concept phone rather than a viable driver. Apparently they’re even more popular in Samsung‘a home market of South Korea, and possibly China too but I can’t say for sure.
This type of device would make me watch live TV more often
You should talk about what accounting is required to have a warranty.
im curious, can you when you open the fold 4 in "laptop mode" can you use the bottom half as a full keyboard to use 2 handsish
You can adjust the size of the view & font in a browser and in OS settings 🤷🏼♂️
I love been daily driving fold for years. I skipped the 3. 4 is a nice improvement over the 2. The fold 4 is definitely sharp and uncomfortable compared to the fold 2
Interesting...I find it the most comfortable of the Folds thus far
The fold 4, although subtle changes do make a big different in daily usage. Linus, you should give it a go. Apps do now open up in full screen automatically if you change the setting.
That was available on Fold 3 with Labs Settings
Can't see myself going away from the fold now that I've used the fold 3 since launch. This however seems too early for me for an upgrade. I don't have any issues at all with my fold so I guess I'm running the fold 3 until the 5 or something like that.
An idea about the s21 ultra sensor it's best to record the thumb print or what ever finger they use more than once. This will make the sensor more precise
Is it possible the Fold doesn't lay flat after a while because Linus customizes all his phones by dropping them?
With the two dents on the hinge... it's a possibility.
6:17 What's up with dbrands attitude?
At some point will you comment on the screens and hinges that fail the Z FOLD 4 and FLIP 4?
i also daily drive a fold, and that new front screen is a very noticable enlargement. the other thing they need to do is give the front screen S pen functionality, currently is does not. also the front screen camera needs a mega overhaul not just the inside front camera
14:45 You can customize the scaling for the inner display (Fullscreen, 4:3, 16:9). Most apps are Fullscreen by default but you're able to customize it to your liking in the settings. I know Linus has been daily driving Samsung phones for years but it seems like he has barely tinkered with the settings and considers customization options as "software bugs". Makes me a little sad inside hearing the same misinformation over the years but I understand Linus is a busy guy and represents the experience mainstream users will likely have.
If Linus is reading this, the Fold 4 does actually have a battery level increase since the processor is more efficient especially since it is on 4nm.
Yeah I think the sd 8 gen1 was just too new of a system and they didn't have it refined yet. The 8+ seems like a much better chip.
That's not going to make a difference. Most of your battery life comes from your screen, not your battery life. Notice how battery life has not changed much over the years. In fact, I still remember the 3 days of battery I would get from my old droid incredible2 with its 4 inch 720p screen.
That's not really true though. The battery is the same size but discharges slightly slower. It's not an increase, it's just a slightly more efficient processor.
@@flyingtentacle7631 ohh trust me it does, comparing my fold 4 to my co workers fold 3 i get atleast 4 hours longer per charge than when his was brand new, similar working roles too so our usages are roughly the same. the 8+ gen 1 is much more power efficient overall.
@@flyingtentacle7631 I will, with respect, say that you are wrong. Go watch various reviews and videos on how the battery in fold 4 is. It beats the s22 Ultra 5000mAh with longer SoT, while having multiple screens. You may read through socials as well if you don't have time for videos. I assure you, the SoC improved the battery life by a lot
I'm really looking forward to Linus' review of ZF5. Especially after a couple months of use.
Now using a fold and love it. I guess thanks Linus for using it so much on WAN Show.
The outside screen getting a wider aspect ratio is enough of a good change for me
honestly, its the worst thing about my fold 2... i mean my Huawei P30 had a better camera setup, but heck i dont really care about that
or the crease, i really am not bothered with the crease
I daily drive a Fold 3 as well. I went to a local Best Buy to see the Fold 4 in person. The Samsung rep tried really hard to upsell the benefits. I dont see it yet with this version. I initially had the Fold 2 and went with a Fold 3, due to what then was the new IP68X resistance. IMO this newly designed hinge, I feel like it's a mk I update again. Plus the Fold series is likely going to be a biannual upgrade versus annual. For what it's worth, Samsung was offering $1k trade in value for the Fold 2 when pre-ordering the Fold 4. That theory leads me to believe/hope the Fold 3 will still be worth $1k when the Fold 5 comes out.
The benefits cant be seen in a short term review, the fold 4 is all about the new processor, much longer battery life and much better responsiveness.
Yep, the Fold 4 isn't aimed at people who already have the 3. It's aimed at addressing some of the things which were dealbreakers for people who want a folding phone but weren't convinced by the 3.
I own the original fold 5g .. my contracts up very shortly so I'm seriously contemplating the fold 4! I've always hated Samsung for the bloatware but I really don't think I can return to a standard sized phone after using the fold for everything games, films, anything...its just awesome to have that kind of convenience in your pocket.. the front screen will definitely be better for me as the one on my og fold is shockingly small 🤣 Thanks linus 👍🏻
My fold 2 lasted 14 months and I still looked new 0 issues and I still sold it for £600 and I now got the fold 4 and fell in love all over again
