  • I love the deeper meanings of this animation, the characters were never Disney characters at all. It was all the result of the broken mind of a war veteran who had to live with a horrible mistake he made. His slow and steady fall into madness caused his sense of self and reality to blend with so many things he had seen before until he couldn’t tell the difference between the reality he’s trapped in and the fiction he watched as a kid. It was all a blur, a blur that only gained clarity when he realized and accepted his mistake and the way it affected everyone and himself

    @designationc6042@designationc604210 ай бұрын
    • I was thinking exactly the same and was about to comment about it until I saw your post. Yes, the protagonist's mind is so broken he is replacing them with his childhood shows. It's sad. Tragic. And this just only shows the masterfully crafted work of art which is this video. and its prequel.

  • I just realized that the reason Mike/Micky saw everything as the cartoon and his reality was so distorted was because once he got back from his mission the CIA put him through MK-ULTRA to make sure he stayed quiet and genuinely believed in what he did. His lying and keeping the file was his psyche in some way absolutely refusing to believe that and refusing to let it go. His mind tried to crawl into his childhood, making everything a cartoon to cope, but it didn't work. No matter what he couldn't leave the war, couldn't leave what he did. Irregardless of how hard he tried.

He kept the documents all that time, despite his orders to destroy them, because he couldn't bring himself to destroy the thing his best friend gave his life to protect. That's amazing storytelling right there in my opinion. It was only because he never destroyed the documents out of respect for his friend's determination that the only friend he had left gave up when he was forced to read them.

This was a man who was driven so mad, that everyone everything turned into cartoon characters. Or maybe, this was a way to tone it down. But the fact that before he was sounding like the actual mickey, but now, it's a whole different voice. It's just honestly insane what could happen to a man after he truly snaps.

Being able to see all the characters interact with each other after what Mickey has done to Goofy is phenomenal. What is profound to one person is mundane to the next. As for the animation, I don't care about the work put into it. Everything we do only matters as much as its consequences, and the consequences of animating this video are a neat psychological story in my eyes. Still more work than some of the videos in my feed. Damn I need to get off of youtube.

    • @dickrichard626 You make a good point. There are some videos I love and some that I hate. I wish the youtube algorithm would change to get rid of stupid youtube videos like those cringe and childish animated SCP videos. I hate those, but at the same time, I enjoy youtube videos from dj Peach Cobbler because of the ideas he talks about. You might think that he is cringe, and I can not in good faith say that you are wrong. But presumably, people still enjoy this cringe induced content, and we should present our case, but also be prepared for people to reject it. One day, maybe people will understand how to make a world without cringe, but until that day comes, we will endure the chaos of creation. (Edit: i just realized I failed to address your main point. I will correct this in the morning.)

Because it's an animation made by one person, not your normal animation made by 4/8 animators, it's an individual work, and the whole point of this being lazily made makes no sense... did you even watch another video on his channel? This guy profundizes on weird and surreal art, which means he's not interested in money, and genuinely makes things to improve his all-kinds of art (which goes from 2D, 2D with 3D-like features, 3D, you get it) Also... uhhh... what? You dont like new stuff because it's easier to make? What are you? An anti-technologist? Why would you not like things being easier? Although... i do get your point on things requiring less effort... but you still have to appreciate that art is becoming available to more people because of this. But like... This is completely hand made and doesnt use any CGI, voices are recorded and tested and music is produced by the creators. Although i dont know what you mean with this not making sense or not getting things straight since multiple war veterans or conscripts have visited the channel and OST, reporting that they took the story seriously and understood it. BUT, again, this means that this is content of a genre, implying that some people will love it and others despise it. Last drispoval of your point. How. How the hell is this for kids. It is very clear that this animation did not find it's correct public, and the posibility is that kids were attracted to this animation, somehow werent noticed by their patents, and did not get what it was about. It is also a fact this channel is not that famous But as an ethereal snake fan i can say i do see your perspective.

  • So, I've watched this again after a year and... it's hit me really deep. In the time between the first and second watching, my service-related PTSD has gotten bad. My mental health is slipping. I sense threats everywhere without seeing them and my heart feels like it's going to explode the moment that I hear something frightening. A sound. Anything. I didn't even do anything in the Navy. I was at Fukushima providing relief. I was in the Gulf of Arabia and Oman watching sandstorms roll over the ocean. But I'm trapped back there. Thinking, being told I was going to die every day as a naval firefighter. I'm trapped. I can't escape and I'm going to die trapped. The commonality between PTSD sufferers is a strange one. Mickey and I are trapped. And we can't escape what haunts us from the shadows, from the corners of our vision that are almost made realized. Thank you for making this.

This isn’t a story of Disney characters in Vietnam, it’s the story of a Vietnam vet turned detective that copes with what he saw and did by imagining his friends, family and himself as Disney characters. It’s the only way he can remember, as you can clearly see the military wiped (or tried to) his memory, leaving only his childhood for reference. And because of that he mistakenly sees people as Disney characters. This story is actually really sad. And I did not expect this out of a shit post.

He ignores the memories and faces of the people he hurt, by replacing them with childhood memories, but no matter what, he can never truly forget his own actions, the man he has become. He tries but the sins of the past are always lurking in the background, never to be forgotten. What a masterpiece.
