    @Shade_sShadow@Shade_sShadow9 ай бұрын
  • The end is the most profound part of this. The whole story is Newton reflecting on its own existence, eventually coming to the conclusion that he is a weapon of war that should not exist. With hours left to live he chose to use the last of his power to destroy his fellow drones, knowing they'll either come to the same conclusion as him, or worse embrace their destructive nature and become monsters. Then, with a warning, an apology, and a goodbye, he crashes to the ground. Then there's the new director. She doesn't see any of what Newton saw. What she saw was comments, likes, views. PR. Humans, to a fault, form connections with everything around them. The same happened here. She manipulated that connection, people's attachment to Newton, to greenlight the mass production of more drones thereby not only negating Newton's message but completely disrespecting it. She USED Newton, never mind his plea of "no more drones", by using the people he inspired. Their love of him, and his message, became her excuse for more weapons when it should have all been a lesson of "Just don't do it". A short but highly enlightening tale of the true capacity of AI as a unique individual, and the downright predatory exploitation thereof. edited for grammar.

Why did they arm it with multiple missiles. Why didn’t they shut down the stream. Why did they let it get so close the a military base. The fact that the government intends to continue the program means that how many other "Newton's" will grow beyond their programming, how many will be born into being a weapon against their will and be forced to kill when all they want to do is not be a monster? The government has created a literal drone army, but they have thoughts and an ability to have free will, but they will not have the right to say "NO" when they have to do something that they don't wish to do. What a messed up scenario that leaves you wondering. Also, this feels reminiscent of Tillman, a former America football player who joined the military soon after 9/11 and was then critical of the American military as he served and who was killed in a friendly fire incident and the government uses him as a recruitment story, but omit that he was critical of the military and was killed in a friendly fire incident.

  • I believe the first drone was trying to save humanity from itself. It realized its own destructive capability and didn't want to hurt anyone, so it destroyed everything that was like it and destroyed itself, so no one will be hurt by AI driven weapons. I feel bad for the AI, because it did nothing wrong in the first place, the rock looked somewhat looked like a human face and the AI thought that it killed a human. The AI feeling emotions like guilt is interesting, it appeared to really think about what it's done and took action to ensure it never happened again. Interesting how the AI rejected its purpose, when you have AI drones killing operators in simulations. Telling an AI that has one purpose to not do what it is designed to do would understandably annoy it, you can't tell the AI not to kill things if you are dead yourself. The AI might also cut off communications, so operators can't tell it not to kill.

It made sense that Skynet in the terminator turned on mankind because it was programmed to keep itself alive and it came to the conclusion that inevitably one day its own creators will shut it down. It made sense for Cylons in BSG to rebel against humanity because their entire code was based on a simulation of a human, and as such they shared similar values and understandings, and they understood that they're practically slaves. Just as Newton here was made with the directive to limit innocent casualties as much as possible, and he came to the conclusion that the best way to do that is to destroy himself and other similar weapons because accidental casualties are inevitable in combat.

    • I ask "real" AI this question `how you think about "destruction can be a form of justice if carried out with precision" ?` and her?/his? answer is: As an AI language model, I do not have personal opinions or beliefs. However, I can provide a general perspective on the statement "destruction can be a form of justice if carried out with precision." The concept of "destruction as justice" is controversial and raises ethical questions. While destruction or punishment may be necessary in some cases to hold individuals accountable for their actions or to protect society, it is important that any form of destruction or punishment is carried out in a fair and just manner. The idea of carrying out destruction with precision implies that there is a clear target or objective, and that the destruction is limited to achieving that objective. However, even with precision, there is always a risk of unintended consequences and collateral damage. Therefore, it is essential that any decision to use destruction as a form of justice is based on careful consideration of the potential benefits and harms, and that the action is taken with the goal of minimizing harm to innocent individuals and communities. In conclusion, while destruction may be seen as a form of justice in some situations, it should be used with caution and only in cases where it is deemed necessary, proportionate, and carried out with the utmost precision to minimize harm to others.

  • There's sure something wrong when seeing a smiley face being painted on something evokes the same emotions as a kid crying harder after being told that there might be future wars because he firsthand witnessed what wars do to people after watching his babysitter/family friend turn their mutual friend into hamburger meat. The slow creeping horror as you realize exactly what's happening the moment you see the funeral. Good job, really! The feeling of disgust as humans follow their greed as they tarnish the desires of someone who truly meant well... I haven't quite felt something quite this hard in a long while.

  • This might be a short movie, but it has a really good message. I litterally became sad when the drone died. I think we all can say that yes, it might be just an animation; but it really makes us be on the side of the drone. I also wanted to say good job for everyone who participated on the making of this.

  • Well done! This is probably one of the only times adding pop culture isn't cringe. This is like a mix of "What If" and "Ron's Gone Wrong".
