After tearing apart my E46 BMW M3 that was abandoned at a race track, I started to replace and repair alot of the common problems and some of the surprise issues with the M3. I got as far as replacing the Rod Bearings, which have actually been replaced by a BMW recall when the car had 18k miles on the clock. 100,000 miles later i thought it was a good idea to replace them again, only issue is that ive never done it before and if i make a slight mistake it could cause some serious engine failure! Lets hope i get this right and the engine starts!

There is no better feel when you do major engine work and it start right up. Did my first engine rebuild on my 2010 ram 1500 and I was scared at first but everything came out great. Started right and still running like a champ . I love what you do keep it up you will inspire people to get out there and do what they think they can’t.

Hey Mat. It's Julian here all the way out in South Africa. Just wanted to let you know I've been following you for just over a month and I've covered quite abit of ground on most of your project. Considering you not being an expert lol as you remind us, you doing a really good job man. I really have to give you kudo's for going out each time taking risks and trusting in your ability! That in itself gives me the confidence to tackle these challenges myself. Oh and let's not forget Hannah, thanks to her aswell.. In closing mate, just really like what you doing, keep going. Well done Matt. I had one of these cars in 2003 and it had the shells done on recall by BMW and the engine failed when the technician took it on a test drive. I was waiting in the service area saw the car leave the workshop and it never came back and the service advisor said “sorry there is a problem and they have gone to retrieve your car” New bottom end and a three week wait to get the car back.
I'm loving this series mate. I own an e46 individual aswell. Watching this series is encouraging me to do the work on mine that needs doing. Already ordered new headlight covers. So thank you for motivating me and keep up the awesome work. Never miss a video.

Currently doing the rear subframe reinforcement plates as a precaution on my E46 330d, whilst basically renewing every single part of the rear suspension at the same time and installing an LSD. What a pig of a job on the floor on axle stands! I've also got the headlight lenses and grille to paint at the front too! I'm with you all the way in this one, then again I watch all of your builds anyway. Nice work!

I just bought an a BMW 3 series E91 estate 2005 Definitely gonna help me with your videos, learning and doing it at home. The point of rebuilding cars is that you really enjoying it and learning. Just start to work in to your car. May be not a really powerful will be, but the placer to do it also open you many things that you would like to learn. Specially when you take the car to mechanic who gives you 500£ por fix it but afterwords you find out how to fix it properly later with only buying that car part. Thanks Matt! 👏 Well done, if you need good coillovers, my brother have them new for the M3, literally from box(aftermarket) but 100£ should be fine. ✌️

Its good thinking doing this. I didn't do it on my mk1 s3 and it span a shell and bent the rod. Loads cheaper of a way and good maintenance

MA killing it with the E46 build, can’t wait to see it with the black leather interior and the rear end will look sick when it’s a little lower. One recommendation for a modification, big bucks, but if you can get hold of a CSL carbon intake/air box it will transform the engine note, the induction noise on the CSL box is INSANE!!
