My mother worked at a old folks home where Perry's mother was at and he was frequently there to visit her something a lot of the other people who had parents there rarely did. One of the things she witnessed with her own eyes was as Perry was leaving a little black boy came running out with a pad and pen asking for his autograph as the car was already on the go as the kid was hoping to meet him. The car stopped and went into reverse and backed up as close to the boy without being a danger and Perry got out of the car and signed his autograph book and talked to him a few minutes before taking off, there was no paparazzi following him around or was there a photographer there to show the love of this great singer and his care to a little boy who wanted to thank the singer for his singing. Magical.

Today as in NOW? Because Karen Carpenter blew this version out of the water back in the 1970s when she did hers. That to me is the best version and made the song feel more holiday-like.

When my boys were little ( 1990s-2000s) I always played this kind of Christmas music.. 7 years ago I lost my oldest, and pretty much stopped celebrating Christmas until this year. This brings back so many memories. I’m trying.

Way back “in the day” my uncle used to get his hair cut by Perry Como. Uncle Boyce Pinson was in the Air Force. I don’t know where he was then. I’ve ALWAYS loved to hear Perry Como.
I was born in the late fall of 1978. Perry Como is one of my favorite singers! This is one of my favorite Christmas/Holiday songs! He was the first artist to introduce this Christmas Classic to the world! Thank you for posting and sharing this!
Absolutely love this song....Partly because I left home at age 18 for the service, and never went back, except to visit. I still remember my parents playing this, and my father singing it.

My father's favorite singer. My father would have been one hundred eleven this year. I'm 71 myself here in 2024. I love to here Perry sing also. Also Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Bing Crosby.Between the four of them you had the best singers ever all at the same time. Wow. That'll never happen again.

Another treasure from Mr. C. Also, please pray for those in hospitals, as of this writing, who can not make it home for the holidays due to COVID. Thank God Christmas provided a break from the world's madness for a lot of people, me included, except for those caught up in it. All we can do is to pray that 2022 will be a better year. As a Pennsylvanian kid, this song always warms my heart, as it is by far one of my most favorite Christmas songs ever. It just reminds me of home, and it feels so nice being reminded of my home here in Pennsylvania, as it will always remain in my heart. Perry has an amazing voice, too. Just warm, lovely home memories and Perry's singing voice just made a sweet song I never hesitate to sing along to, although nobody could ever replicate this perfectly, really. One of my favorite christmas songs of all time....growing up in PA and hearing this on the local radio station (24/7 christmas music) as a kid made the holidays that much better.....miss those times the 90s were great
I can tell you the moment the Christmas Season started for me in 2019. It was in mid-November and I was driving south on Interstate 79 on the way home to West Virginia after visiting friends in Pittsburgh. One of the Sirius XM Christmas channels was on my radio, and as I rounded the curve by the business park and saw the sign for Canonsburg, THIS SONG CAME ON THE RADIO!

This guy had a great voice and terrific style. Hard to find singers these days who can just wander through a story in song like Como. He made it look so easy and casual, and he was master of pitch. Man, he could belt it out when he wanted to. Listen to his sustain at the close of this song. Perfect vibrato throughout.

This song always reminded me when I would return and visit my family members in Pittsburgh, Pa.. Surely there was no place like "Home For The Holidays!" Even my grandmother and aunt were from the same town where you were born and raised, Canonsburg, Pa. How lucky I was to be born in the same State as you. You're the best Perry! When I was a boy in Pittsburgh, my mother would take to my grandfather's luncheonette, "Ideal Restaurant" in South Side, and I would ask my grandfather to give me a nickel (back then) and play the songs that were on the Jude box in his restaurant.
