  • Once during the summer when I was a child I was playing in the yard with my brother. I remember hearing faint music, soft bass coming from my grandmas living room. I recall looking through the window and seeing my grandma and grandpop dancing and twirling around the living room to this song. I’ll never forget it.

    • You are the same age as what my grandmother would have been she passed away when she was 54 of lung cancer, she used to always say this to me when I was a kid "put it in your pocket and save it for a rainy day" but she would give us a coin and told us to keep it and its planted a seed, im now 31 and still researching the things she'd say that I never understood 😂 and came across this song.

So, to keep them distracted as I changed them, I put my phone in my pocket playing Perry Como. For a brief moment, we made eye contact and they smiled at me. A simple song, and the irony behind “Catch a Falling Star”... 💖 my heart melted. I love my job. 🎵Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, save it for a rainy day.🎵

They loved the tune and lyrics so much they sing it regularly I am told by my son. My father used to whistle this tune and sing it. This song just popped into my head and I realized it was my father's way of saying hi to us all.

  • I remember fondly watching Perry Como's television show in latter 1950's and early 1960's. At a time when the "Rock 'n Roll" genre was consuming the Top Hit Parade of song, Perry Como endured! He had great voice (could genuinely sing), and exuded warm personality. "Catch a Falling Star" has always been one of my favorites.

They had their entire house rigged with a fancy music system and although it was the early 2000’s…. It was filled with music of their era. I remember and have memorized this song and many others as it played daily. They were a sweet couple who did prefer to enjoy the past. I miss them so much. This song was a regular. I definitely wasn’t old school at the time. I was 22 years old. But I learned to adore Perry Como, Dorris day, Sinatra and so many others from this experience. ❤

  • I'm 75. I don't seem to remember radio but my mom had a stack of 78s I use to sing to when she wasn't home. There were also lots of Christmas specials on TV in the 50s. Sooooooo glad I grew up then.

  • I can still picture my two year old sister singing this and acting it out. She was so cute and we let her know it.

  • One of those sweet oldies I have always liked to hear, it is different from other songs and has a nice original idea. We cannot catch a falling star really but we can save the good memories, to help us when we are down or in problems.
