On UFC 254, Khabib Nurmagomedov was about to face Justin Gaethje in their now famous lightweight championship fight. That fight would end up being the final farewell for Khabib, who announced his retirement after submitting Gaethje in a ruthless triangle choke.
Leading up to the fight, the spotlight was often shined on one fighter who was a replacement in case one of the fighters would be forced to withdraw. He was itching to get inside the Octagon and show the world what he can do.
No one would blame you if you didn’t recognize that face from seeing it in the UFC Octagon. His name is Michael Chandler, and he was there to see if his debut in the coveted UFC roster would be in a championship fight against one of the legends of the promotion.
He wouldn’t get the chance to fight that night. However, we could witness his intensity, his desire to fight, and one could sense that he was destined for greater things down the road.
Michael grew up in High Ridge, Missouri, in a blue-collar, hard-working, American household. High Ridge had a population of 4,305 per the 2010 census, so it was a tight knit community where most knew each other. From early on, Michael learned the importance of hard work, instilled early by his parents. He owes a lot of his success to that same work ethic that he demonstrates to this day. A relentlessness that helped him bounce back from many setbacks.

I was listening to this in my van while on the road and I just had to pull over to comment. This was just pure class. Chandler would be proud and I hope he has seen it. Well done on a fantastic documentary.
You did not pull over 🤣
Better you pull over then get to pumped up and start speeding..🤣
I was reading your comment and I had to pull to agree with you . Bravo
I don't even own a car and I also pulled over to comment.
I was piloting my plane and had to parachute out to get better reception so I can comment. Excellent documentary. And ps, I was over the ocean no one was hurt.
Ending brought me to tears man. Dude is such a respectable, stand up guy. Genuinely a great role model. Wow.
I have a new-found appreciation for Chandler after this production 💯
Str8up man. Pure class. Even the way he handled the Poirier situation recently....such maturity and class.
Also a juice head . But yeah. Agreed
When he finally found his son and immediately broke into tears that had us all tearing up lol. Such a fantastic documentary. Thank you.
This was incredible man. I love how you focus on the human side of these fighters rather than just the fighting. That’s what I find most beautiful about the sport. Thank you for your fantastic work.
One of the best I’ve seen.. been watching him for a long time and he is an animal! If he fought “safe” like other fighters he may only have a couple losses but he puts it all out every time! Reminds me of Justin Gatche
Damn good documentary on Michael Chandler. I've followed his career since his beginning in Bellator. And even though he had some rough patches in that organization you just knew he was the best lightweight there and needed to be in the UFC. He's fully taken advantage of his time since coming to the UFC. Even though he's 2-2 at the moment, every fight he's been in has been tremendous and memorable. I hope he wins the title at some point. Even if he doesn't hold it for long. He needs that title in his trophy case. GOD BLESS!!!! SEE YOU AT THE TOP!!!!
Absolutely. In one loss he came within a hair of becoming the UFC champion. In the other loss, he took who many consider to be the most violent fighter in the UFC the distance, and went shot for shot with him. There might be 2 L's on his record from those fights, but only a fool would believe those fights were losses in the grand scheme. I can't wait to see him fight again. Every time.
Yo bigsmizz comment on this I've never had some one answer me in comments on KZhead lol
Got to love Chandler !! He's a class act in and out of the ring !!
Wow.. up at 2 AM and can’t sleep.. didn’t plan to watch a 50 minute video but this was captivating. Excellent job on the documentary. The ending was heartwarming. He truly Is a champion regardless of a belt or not, this guys spirit is unlike anyone else.
This channel is absolutely incredible. The sheer amount of work going in these videos is astonishing ! It's even better than big Netflix documentaries
Love this feedback brother. Thank you so much🙏
Watched Chandler since his first fights in Bellator and always thought he was among the best 55ers in the world. Good work 👏
💯🙏
Str8up. Same here bro. Dude is a str8 savage. The only one who wasn't afraid of Charles' guard or groundgame. He literally exploded when charles had his back and he wound up on top of do bronx. Beast
Among us
man Chandler has brought soo much to this lightweight division. The ufc did a fantastic job at promoting him, some people hate on him for being rushed to the top but this guy has been around for a decade. his resume is miles better then someone like islams. Anyway i hope to see chandler fight for the belt one more time
Lol such an uneducated comment. Just look at their fight record, it's clear whose the better fighter.
@@zerenadli uneducated? Lmao dude I have seen every single fight of both fighters. Islam is the better fighter of course, but just bc Chandler wasn’t in the ufc don’t make his resume not impressive. He has fought the way better competition in his career the fact that u even question this makes u more uneducated then I can’t fathom
Chandler goes all out there's no half measures with that man love watching him fight...
This was really good. Chandler is one of my favorite fighters. Thank you for taking the time to build this awesome content 🙏
Win or lose, this man brings it, he's amazing to watch, and incredibly skilled, a true legend of the game
You've done a great job on this one, I really enjoyed it. Purely academic side note: Mizzou is pronounced "miz-ZOO" :)
One of my favorite people in all of MMA and in all my 28 years watching this sport.
Let’s all appreciate that Chandler made it to the UFC or we may not have even seen a fantastic documentary like this!
Followed him throughout Bellator Always rated him 👍🏼 Hope he gets that belt

When Chandler says in the first 20 seconds "i fight smart"😂😂
Only heard of Chandler when he came to the Ufc, i had no idea he had a strong wrestling background or that he had so many submission wins. Awesome edit!

This was awesome. It reminds me of a how it's made a UFC fighter.
I've been a fan ever since Bellator but this fantastic documentary has shined a light on how wonderful of a person he apart from being a world class athlete. Chandler is the man.
Thx bro
Absolutely awesome production, shined a bright light on a future champion no doubt whatsoever.
Great video bro awesome work loved to see a pereira movie! 💪🏼
No doubt Pereira will have a doc soon!
Great video, really glad you included his decision to adopt children (that’s what made me a lifelong fan) really great guy!
legend 🔥
Well done my friend! WELL DONE!!! 🤜🥴🤛
This Is Like a Superhero's Origin
That switch from the romantic setting of Chandler meeting and marrying his wife STRAIGHT back to Bellator had me weak 😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Keep it up ❤❤❤ this chanel it great
Chandler is force of nature and it has been a joy to follow his career. I have not missed one of his fights and i sincerely hope he becomes UFC champion one day. I don't see Mcgregor as more than a money fight, one that Michael Chandler will most surely win.
Woow bravo 👏 👏 Just beautiful ❤
Top Guy, all my Respect 🙏💪🏻💪🏻
AWESOME 👊
awesome story .. Chandler is a quick favorite .. love that guy .. amazing fighter ...
Gr8 material, you cover interestong personalities
Good fighter, Great man. Happy for him and his family. will see if he can win the UFC belt but that is not what really matters, What matters is his will and his greatness. Thank you for the years you gave to the fans.
One of my favorite fighters.
Fav fighter ever now. Seems like a A+ human.
these guys do a great job on their documentaries this is like the fourth one I've watched , Michael Chandler does a lot of listening to Grant Cardone ,cold hard truth , "nobody cares work harder"!
Both my little brothers went to states and they both went to last round one lost and one won he won first place while he had the stomach flew and still won in Michigan , found out about him when he first fought the champ Eddy Alvarez , He found him a wonderful woman who was so giving and passionate to make a change in the world she became a Dr. And he a fighter but both inspire
Was looking at my KZhead feeds and what do you know, I see you at the top. 😏 Ps: I didn't come here to see a long documentary but I came here to see a good one !
Michael Chandler ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌🏽
haha love the Justin fight. Tony is old but Chandler did a damn good kick, damn!
Awesome
amazing danggg i hope he sees this
Win or lose, he's one of the most fun to watch
Chael at the beginning on this vid has a point. "Do you want to entertaine people or want to be World Champion? But i honestly think he only knows one way to fight and thats all in.I can honestly put my hand on heart that ive NEVER seen Chandler in a boring fight. Hes electric. I know a lot if people say hes got a few L on his record but man have you seen who those L are too?? Usman ,Da bronx,Chaos,Gaetjhe etc and hes pushed all the way
What a man.
I truly hope this man gets his belt
Excellent documentary about one of the most exciting fighters ive ever watched but also a genuine nice guy who doesnt lower himself to trash talk like McGregor.Hopefully Chandler will beat McGregor and shut him up for good.
Wow this is really cool they got the Northwest wrestling footage!!! I'm from high ridge as well and he isn't wrong we're in the woods
🙏🙏
This was great. What a wonderful guy. Much respect
