With the first John Wick being such a surprise hit at the box office in 2014, Hollywood had no choice but to immediately green-light some more. Fans of the Keanu Reeves movie were given John Wick: Chapter Two and then John Wick: Chapter Three - Parabellum, which had a neat little latin word on the end for its title for some reason. Pretty neat, I guess!
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum definitely raises some questions. Like why did John head directly to one of the most people-dense places on Earth when trying to hide from assassins? How did he get so much done in the 60 minutes before his excommunicado status? Why does everybody insist on talking to John Wick before trying to kill him? Did he just slap a horse? How many favors and symbolic doohickeys does this guy have up his sleeve?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

    • 2 and 3 are good. Like standard movie with elements that are above average, the action scenes are brilliant. But on a script and narrative level. They are ultimately not that good. John Wick was a perfect masterpiece of action genre filmmaking. 2 and 3 are just more for the fun of it. Like everything in Dragon Ball after Frieza is defeated and Namek blows up and everyone is revived and those threads all get resolved. Everything after that is just sort of for fun without any real meaningful narrative. Robo Frieza and time travel and evil androids just exist to make big fights happen. "A good story with lots of great action" vs "A story only there to justify great action."
