Step inside the pitch meeting that led to John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum!

With the first John Wick being such a surprise hit at the box office in 2014, Hollywood had no choice but to immediately green-light some more. Fans of the Keanu Reeves movie were given John Wick: Chapter Two and then John Wick: Chapter Three - Parabellum, which had a neat little latin word on the end for its title for some reason. Pretty neat, I guess!
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum definitely raises some questions. Like why did John head directly to one of the most people-dense places on Earth when trying to hide from assassins? How did he get so much done in the 60 minutes before his excommunicado status? Why does everybody insist on talking to John Wick before trying to kill him? Did he just slap a horse? How many favors and symbolic doohickeys does this guy have up his sleeve?
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Corporate Exec: "Can't those guys just shoot the horse?" Movie Pitcher: "Well we wouldn't want to see any animal violence in the John Wick franchise...oh wait"
Yes, they can shoot the horse, of course But they won't shoot the horse, of course Because...reasons...?
I mean, they probably remember the last time someone hurt an animal belonging to John Wick.
‘Cause they know horses are badass
we also never explicitly see the dog die. if they shot the horse it be right on screen and then ppl would be sad and mad lol
Knowing what happened when John's days old puppy got killed, I too would be hesitant to shoot any animal close to him in any way. Even if it was just a random horse he was riding.

Here's the only difference: the action is too good to ignore.
@@jeremiahbell6129 it was too over the top in this movie, it’s starting to get annoying
@@MrGNugget Yeah, it's definitely lost much of the gritty, down to earth realism from the first movie. I'll most likely watch the 4th one, but the series is dangerously bordering Fast and Furious level of jumping the shark.

They just tickle John Wickle's ickle pickle
Wick must've learned how that stunt worked early in his assassin career and now he just does it for practice.
He must enjoy being run over for some reason, or else he would've just snuck into the brother's business at the first of John Wick 2 and arranged a truce with him BEFORE killing most of his men and getting his car trashed unnecessarily...

The one excuse i have for that is the special kevlar suit and i know its not enough but hey its john wick right
The fall had lots of respect for John...
The John Wick universe, where the secret organization of assassins employs 85% of the world's population. The other 15% are not even phased by massive gunfights sporadically popping up around them.
If you think about it, with 85% of the population being assassins, that kind of crazy gunfight/martial arts tournaments must be commonplace events. Everyone's used to it by now.
Because the other 15% are ALSO employed, but don't know it. John Wick 4: They will reveal that average citizens have been subconsciously programmed to attack John (and only John, for some unexplained reason) if a certain phrase is said.
The doctor that worked on John is also the same guy who played The Keymaker in the Matrix. Further cementing my conclusion that this all takes place within the Matrix.
Matrix is the name of the other movie!!!
@@Marcus-oy6up that's right sir!
So what you’re saying is … John Wick is almost certainly a videogame franchise that was made by Tom Anderson’s Deus Machina company?

In John Wick, John kills a gangster played by Daniel Bernhardt, who also played Agent Johnson in The Matrix Reloaded.

"Car accidents just kind of tickle John Wick" I lost it 🤣 These videos are gold
"Why didn't he just shoot John instead of coming up and talking to him first?" I mean, they've spent the prior two films showing that they are VERY polite assassins, you know, and quite professional, even when they're breaking the rules like the giant was.
You know they all went to Grammar Schools. If they went to State Schools they would only be working for street gangs. Ya gotta have those Elitist connections to get those high paying jobs these days....
Polite enough to kill
In the first movie the lady assassin was breaking the rules and try to kill John while he was in bed. No talk, no warning and yes she use a gun and try to shoot him. You using excuses justify this bad writing is hilarious.
The idea that assassins would let someone know he is hunted and even give him free time to prepare is absurd.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah.
I loved John Wick 1, where we only had a relatively modest & subtle peak into this assassin world and we could fill in the blanks with our own imagination. 2 & 3 though are just over the top and so have lost the magic. Poor Keanu. Always great first films, followed by film studios cashgrabbing with a sequel and a third one.
There are many adjectives to describe Keanu Reeves, but I don't think "poor" is one of them! xD
Nahh JW 2 & 3 are really good
2 and 3 are good. Like standard movie with elements that are above average, the action scenes are brilliant. But on a script and narrative level. They are ultimately not that good. John Wick was a perfect masterpiece of action genre filmmaking. 2 and 3 are just more for the fun of it. Like everything in Dragon Ball after Frieza is defeated and Namek blows up and everyone is revived and those threads all get resolved. Everything after that is just sort of for fun without any real meaningful narrative. Robo Frieza and time travel and evil androids just exist to make big fights happen. "A good story with lots of great action" vs "A story only there to justify great action."
@@jonathanjovonovich4348 2 was ok, 3 is litterally plays like a video game or cartoon. Its downright silly, and John Wick should have died on at least 20 occasions. It seriously brought the frachise down several notches in my mind.
